It was disgusting that Osaka was booed at the end. She deserved the win and even without Serena's meltdown Osaka would have won.

“I don’t cheat, I’d rather lose” Serena still managed to do both 😭

The first thing Serena said was I would never cheat, I am a mother. To this day I don't know the connection.

The umpire stole Osaka's moment ? Serena did ! Serena is the worst sore loser, we all know that.

Even two years later, Serena's sly determination to win --using her tantrums to disrupt Naomi's concentration. with a disorderly mob cheering for her, was a baptism by fire for a 20 year old champion. What a disgrace Serena is.

I cant believe these people are justifying that disgraceful act of her.

"As a black man, I am..." ... again, race & gender are being brought up when neither is necessary. I'm getting so sick of this black/white, men/women, etc. Why can't we just be human? Period!!

Serena knew that she's losing the match... she intentionally made a scene for Osaka to probably change her rhythm and mood... but it's definitely Osaka's moment to shine! Go Osaka my new Tennis Inspiration 😍💪🎾

Serena Williams didn’t lose the US Open final because of what she did with the coaching, the racquet smash and verbal abuse. She lost it because she was outplayed by Naomi Osaka. And let’s stop focusing on this controversy. Let’s give Ms Osaka her dues for outplaying Serena Williams.

Carlos Ramos was incredibly calm and professional while receiving threats and abuse. Serena began by screaming, demanding an apology, threatening his entire career and ended in tears complaining to his superior while claiming discrimination. Carlos' ruling were upheld and Serena was fined. Carlos deserves an apology plain and simple. A great example to all Portuguese people to how to not be bullied while remaining calm.

Watch how many penalties Nick Kyrgios gets and you realize that this isn't sexism

Thank you, Stephen A, for telling it like it is. I love tennis and have the greatest respect for Serena as the greatest female player of all time, but she crossed a few lines here, and, worse, showed no respect for her worthy opponent Naomi Osaka.

Carlos Ramos took the moment from Naomi? Please! It was Serena’s poor sportswomanship that did it. Even the black commentator acknowledges it!!

anyone who knows anything about tennis knows that Serena was wrong here. I agree, males have said a lot worse and have only been penalized a point instead of a game. BUT, Serena KNEW she already had two previous code violations and therefore her next violation would be a game penalty. I agree, both men and women have said worse but not on the brink of a third offense. I would also like to say that Serena went on and on and on. She did not only call him a "liar" and a "thief," she went on and on and on demanding an apology from the official. this was not sexism. this was not racism. this was Serena Williams being a sore loser.

''She's probabily right'' - Gotta say, great journalism right there.
