This is one of the most mixed emotion inducing sporting moments in history. I'm sure people who loved Serena couldn't help but love Naomi for her humility and tenderness. This is one of the most mixed emotion inducing sporting moments in history. I'm sure people who loved Serena couldn't help but love Naomi for her humility and tenderness. I could just imagine the cognitive dissonance those people experience but with good reason. It was sad to see how Serena behaved... Even her speech was not respectful an full of pride. All I could think of is that saying that goes "never meet your hero". Naomi is wonderful young lady. I hope she remains humble like a lamb. Most people, when they get famous for the right reason, assume that fame itself is a reason enough to flout the same rules which had helped them to reach that fame in the first place.
Naomi was awesome... Serving bullets, winners where most would be happy to just get the ball back in play, pinpoint returns with interest and never once let her head drop. She reminded me of a young Boris Becker, particularly in the last game where many would have crumbled trying to beat a great champion with all the tornado of discord swirling around the partisan stadium. And afterwards she is so sweet and humble, endearing many to her.
Watching Serena was like viewing a compilation of McEnroe bloopers, only the chalk dust and serious were missing. She got well beaten, even after leading 3-1 in the second set she got turned over immediately.
An unforgettable night which may yet be the end of a great champion and the first of many majors for a brilliant new star.

2009, 2011, 2018 US open what happened? she was losing those matches when she made those infamous outbursts. people who think she is right fail to realize there is a progression of penalties in tennis. serena didn't get a game penalty out of the blue. she commited two previous violations and she should have realized her next one will be a game penalty. even with that in mind she continued to rant and berate the umpire. this umpire is well known to be a stickler for rules and she knows that but she couldn't control her emotions and let it get the best of her. using sexism as an excuse to validate her rant belittled osaka's victory. other players male and female in most cases would shut their mouths after receiving their 2nd violation knowing that the next one will result in game penalty. however serena chose to continue to berate the umpire. she talks about her integrity but what about the umpire's integrity when she calls him a liar and a theif. the umpire just followed the rules. i've lost complete respect for serena to pull this kind of behavior and use sexism as an excuse. NO RACISM! NO SEXISM! JUST TANTRUM! ALL ABOUT HER! ME ME ME!!!
