One thing i might add, well 2 thing... Lighter tinted clothing (yes the helmet too) WILL stay cooler in the sun, that's a fact, second, and most important, always, always try the helmet on, the measure of your head is nothing, it's the shape that matters, and an helmet that is too tight will become unbearable quite quickly, a brand new helmet should fit you snuggly, it will loosen up with time, and if you are trying a modular helmet (flip front or whatever you want to call it) try it both open and closed, because it will get tighter in the front when closed. And yes, i do sell motorcycle gear for a living...

On hot days, what type of gear would you recommend for staying cool while riding?

Good advice, I would also add, that most people, after a season or tree, want new gear, so buying the most expensive is often not a good investment as well as buying the cheapest that often wont last you even one season (like them gloves) helmets do get old, both the inside and outside and buying a +1000$ helm will not guarantee it will last you more then max 5 years imho and I would say 3 years if you use it on a daily base, also if you do buy an expensive one, do add an extra visor, so you have a spare one on hand, annoying to find out after 2-3 years that it is out of stock and you now have an expensive helmet with a scratsy visor, I ride close to every day and I buy a new helmet every 2-3 season, so I found that a nice 400-600$ helmet that on sale cost around 300$ is the way for me.

@@alexanderbrooks1313 Light colored, with the least amount of black possible (i don't know why people love black clothes (yeah they keep the dirt best, but the world is so full of color!) perforated jacket (with armor), if you want perforated trousers, but in my opinion reinforced motorcycle cargo pants (no extra lining) work just as good, perforated gloves and shoes (all must be certified, well at least in Europe we the labeling not only for helmet, and a well vented helmet, LS2 , Shoei (at lest these i've tried), Nolan, plus Nolan does a crazy ventilated helmet (N30) which looks like a bike helmet but it's a fully certified motorcycle helmet, but it's crazy expensive (and i don't know in which market outside Europe is available.

There's a saying when it comes to buying quality goods "buy once, cry once"... I've just recently got into riding myself and my initial plan was to go top dollar on the helmet in boots, then go a little cheaper on the gloves, pants, and jacket. That was a mistake I discovered... My coworker recommended me to check out a brand called HWK, he said the price is very reasonable and I can get gear for a third of the cost of any other brand. So I bought a jacket from them and then immediately returned it because their sizing chart is way off and more importantly I found tons of defects with their jacket. The mesh liner feels like it's made out of old fabric softener sheets, it lacks any real integrity that I would expect to find in a jacket that's meant to withstand constant wear and tear, the stitching was absolutely awful especially around the zipper for the thermal liner, the armor padding was so deformed that I had to take them out to work them back into shape and that's when I noticed that it was so stiff I don't see how it would be able to absorb any kind of impact. To top it all off the whole jacket smelled absolutely awful. It had that offshore, made in a factory chemical smell and it was just off-gassing something horrible. I returned the jacket hoping that the next one wouldn't be as bad... Nope, way worse! Even more messed up stitching where you can just see loose loops of thread that never engaged properly with the surface so the zippers are already coming off and it's stank even more. I got one more jacket from them and I wish it didn't waste my time. I got a refund and canceled my order for a pair of pants too because if this is what their jackets looked like I don't want to know what their pants look like. I'm just going to drop another $600+ on my credit card and call today to get some quality gear.
