@@soroosh_abd2589 both wings cut off, tail cut off, both steering controls and steering flaps are gone, engines down and ur on fire.
This is why I've changed my damage models...instead of a few bullet holes, entire sections of plane are shot off, waist and tail gunners hanging out in the air....cockpit gone. You can do it from the "customize" section and using something like Photoshop.
Yeah the problem is the damage models are complete arse in terms of granularity. Understandably so mind you.But it drives a lot of issues. The Hull Break mechanic is functionally a similar thing. Most of the time a direct hit from a suitably big shell will kill a lightly armour AFV or aircraft, but in the real world they will survive hits occasionally. But the WT damage model system is dumbed down enough so the servers can handle it that in practise those outcomes are much too common without hull breaking.
@@darthkarl99 You can't do anything about the mechanical breakage but you CAN use higher resolution images for skins than come 'standard'. I take the standard skin and at least double the size for my version, then make a copy with a transparent background and add the damage. Everywhere you erase becomes a hole in the plane when hit. You can't hurt anything messing with it. You're also the only one that can see the skin. (because it's only loaded on your computer) Other players just see the stock skin.
I've got a USS Enterprise NCC-17 (B-17) skin based on the Original Trek paint job. It has the Orion slave girl Marta for nose art and gets phaser burns and disruptor blasts all over when hit.
My 1965 Ford (P-51) Mustang skin based on my buddy's car...gets parking lot dents, scratches and rust holes.

Imagine being the gunner in Phly’s B-17 as you watch a 262, a jet fighter you probably never even seen, shred a bomber with a few cannon rounds.

Well if it's a mode with AI fighters and all players are in bombers JU288C would like to know your location especially AB setting were bombs reload easy RP for me so I would love that or they buff gunners aced they can't hit the broadside of a barn from the inside

@@derubermuller5971 well say there is 16 players in game so 8 vs 8 bombers with probably quite a few AI since there not the smartest but have like 20 30 bases because already in game with 3 in AB my 2 1800KG leaves like 1 4 health left and my bomb in air reload for AB is 30 seconds but when you think of B29 that can Nuke like 3 bases without reload and still have same reload

Just hoped back in they start the bombers so low in dominattion and I'd immediately get melted the second I got close to objectives yah I suck but I feel super underpowered.
I only lasted 5secs the minute those 109s dived on us boys in the back of formation. Iron Armenian did a fancy roll and shot my elevators off.

Just as an aside to my previous comment, B-17s didn't take off in pairs. Especially in airfields like that. There were also lead planes from each base that had special vibrant colors and markings painted on them that would act as rally points for each squadron so they could form up. Sort of like chase cars in NASCAR.

My great-grandfather was a waist gunner in a B-17 during World War II, and survived 34 aerial missions in the bomber squadron that lost more people than the marines did in the whole war.
Tyler Wenks wow that is really cool my great-grandfather served in the battle of Tobruk. He was an artillery gunner and when I was a kid he always told me stories about how he shot down planes. now I’m enlisting in the RAAF. he died a few months ago.
That leader guy micro managers the formation and flights. Being aircrew. You don't wait for permission to engage when enemy is flying over. He doesn't dictate when you do flight checks. Super annoying.

EDIT: I in no way meant disrespect to the creators, players, or idea of the video. I just thought they should have opened fired once fighters were in range rather than waiting, which resulted in several bombers being downed. As Iron's perspective showed, even one 109 could carve a path through a formation with a few bursts.

Normally, the bombers would test fire all defensive guns as soon as they were out over the north sea, and then weapons free until returning to friendly flak coverage.

All of you that are criticising and throwing shade out there to the Flight Leader, he was following exactly the brief that was given to him. He's also taking commands from Formation leader and relaying that to his wing - all of you saying he's trying too hard, annoying and the like are not understanding this CB in its full context.
You are not:
Considering that commands are coming from above flight leader.
Rules are in place to make the match balanced
Hold fire command was given from FORMATION leader, not flight leader of this section.
Hold fire command was in place to avoid friendly fire while the formation was tight.
The flight leader actually did an incredible job of organising B section (Phly's flight) with the complete mess up of the bomber formation throughout the CB.
If it weren't for B-Section flight leader, you wouldn't have a video to enjoy.
Just think before you type.

Tremendous. Player made gameplay is straight up FIRE. Formation flying while being attacked by 190s and 262s genuinely scary.
You should do an early war one, raiding France in Hampdens and Wellingtons and the like.

Will Spence The Flight Leaders for this CB had to use Discord and Teamspeak at the same time with a plug in for TS they had to install that added a radio com effect for “More immersion”. This event was suppose to be about as serious as the Dunkirk CB, but somewhere along the line people couldn’t respawn and command chat wasn’t talking to anyone because they were trying to sort it out. People just ended up leaving.
Fair enough, it's still hard to take it serious when it's some teen age kid barking orders lol

Lot of guys on Xbox do events like this. Not as many people but same idea.
This is the whole reason why I want to unlock the B-17G, my favorite plane to ever grace the skies.
Also, lead bomber had his head up his ass, should have gone weapons free BEFORE you had enemy fighters engaging the formation.
Your preference, but friendly fire in roleplay also isn't the best idea.

First, props for just mentioning the Red Tails. I have mentioned them during some missions and nobody knows who I'm talking about. I'm also surprised they're not some type of Premium plane considering their spectacular history and record for protecting bombers!!!
Secondly, this is EPIC!!! Personally I love being a Bomber Pilot and hope I can get to be a part of something on a grand scale like this.
Lastly, thanks for showing bombers off again. I don't think they get enough attention because well, they aren't that big on action. But, when used properly they can do some of the largest amount of damage.
