I love your channel so much Phly you just put a special flair on everything you do and your love for this stuff shows. This was so cool to watch felt like a straight movie in the beginning and honestly all the way throughout.
Loved the video PhlyDaily! That Kamikaze Attack at Timeframe 20:40-20:50 added a bit of ahistorical flavor but not so much as to be like a "What if" like battle. I'm watching this on the 78th anniversary of the most important part of the Guadalcanal Campaign, the night/day that the Japanese Navy forced us out of the New Georgia sound. A battle that had so many Allied casualties that it earned the nickname "Iron Bottom Sound". American casualties are as follows: • 3 New Orleans class Heavy Cruisers (USS Astoria (Design 1), USS Quincy and USS Vincennes (Design 3)) • 2 Atlanta class Light Anti-Aircraft Cruisers (USS Atlanta CL-51 and USS Juneau CL-52) • USS Laffey (Benson Class, DD-459) and 4 Other Destroyers Allied casualties included the loss of the HMAS Canberra.I Also, with the loss of Juneau were all five Sullivan brothers from Waterloo, Iowa. Apparently, four of them were at their posts during the battle while the fifth and youngest of the group was in sick bay. They had just gotten news that the wife of the youngest brother was about to give birth and they were waiting on the news whilst still performing their duties. When the Juneau was sinking, the four older brothers got to the life boats and then remembered that the fifth was in sick bay, went back for him, and by then the ship was so far gone and the fifth brother was so badly injured from shrapnel (I think?) that they all decided to stay together and go down with the ship. The clause that is commonly referred to as "The Sullivan rule" to this day, was already in place at that time, but because of this instance, it is, even now, adhered to with strict measures in order to ensure that something like this wouldn't happen again. Would love to see you try this part of the Guadalcanal Campaign on for size though, wouldn't hurt to have the retaliatory attack on the Japanese fleet the following night too.

@@nyebill4160 you even consider it a war movie? Good american call of duty like kill hundreds of germans, although i would admit it has a few REALLY good scenes (the landing moment imo is really good). But it's problem of a genre, not a movie, cause movies are supposed to make money and no one would ever watch historically accurate movies. Good example is "Tora!Tora!Tora!" although it is really accurate, it made only 37.15 millions with a budget of 25.
My favorite moments! 2:41 The Ominous music, the Japanese planes flying past. chills 10:35 The more Triumphant music, with shots of the US fleet. perfect. 13:37 This launch scene. with the cinematic shots, it is awesome 16:57 The "Holy S**t" as an allied plane gets vaporized by Japanese fighters... once again, chills 27:56 I already explained why I liked the scene in other comments, but it's REALLY good.
there is no historical accuracy in these battles, stuka sounds dont play when planes are falling, planes are tougher,etc... EDIT:there is, but its not very accurate its about 90% accurate
i game i do research too the Stuka siren was very real. It was a horn attached to German dive bombers to decrease moral and insight fear. Also the Japanese zero is perhaps one of the weakest plane in terms of armor. The reason it was so feared was because of its speed. Typical a few well placed bullets can bring down a plane
Judging from the perfect formations, the jp air armada was most likely AI. You can see a small cloud of unorganised mass of planes ahead of it during the viewpoint from below. Those are prolly the players

I wonder if you could do the Battle of Kursk as a War Thunder Movie. It wasn't only the biggest Tank Battle during WWII, but also the biggest Air Battle during this time, with the biggest single loss in Airframes for the Luftwaffe. Since Kursk, the Luftwaffe never recovered from that loss and the rest is History.
Trust me, it was cooler playing it. There was one instance when we first met the US fleet (I was a Soryu 1 Kate) and we couldnt see anything through the clouds until I spotted the USS Portland. We descended through the clouds and there they were, the whole goddamn fleet. It was my squadron that sunk the Yorktown. Honestly, id love to play these historical games on WT with full immersion responibility
PLEASE A LOT MORE OF THIS, this was absolutely amazing
Loved the video PhlyDaily! That Kamikaze Attack at Timeframe 20:40-20:50 added a bit of ahistorical flavor but not so much as to be like a "What if" like battle. I'm watching this on the 78th anniversary of the most important part of the Guadalcanal Campaign, the night/day that the Japanese Navy forced us out of the New Georgia sound. A battle that had so many Allied casualties that it earned the nickname "Iron Bottom Sound". American casualties are as follows:
• 3 New Orleans class Heavy Cruisers (USS Astoria (Design 1), USS Quincy and USS Vincennes (Design 3))
• 2 Atlanta class Light Anti-Aircraft Cruisers (USS Atlanta CL-51 and USS Juneau CL-52)
• USS Laffey (Benson Class, DD-459) and 4 Other Destroyers
Allied casualties included the loss of the HMAS Canberra.I
Also, with the loss of Juneau were all five Sullivan brothers from Waterloo, Iowa.
5:07 I heard a TIE Fighter. I swear. I heard a TIE Fighter.
i heard it too, i was very confused i had to replay that like 3 times to make sure

,,Midway" on a budget
Way bettet than the other 2019 Midway movie "Dauntless: hell of Midway)

I agree with you all. I don't like remakes of old WW2 movies, or any war movies for that matter.

10:35 The more Triumphant music, with shots of the US fleet. perfect.
13:37 This launch scene. with the cinematic shots, it is awesome
16:57 The "Holy S**t" as an allied plane gets vaporized by Japanese fighters... once again, chills

Veterans must react to this, I wanna see them react to the historical accuracy.
there is no historical accuracy in these battles, stuka sounds dont play when planes are falling, planes are tougher,etc...
EDIT:there is, but its not very accurate its about 90% accurate
Lol there’s prolly like 1 veteran who actually fought in this battle alive today
i game i do research too the Stuka siren was very real. It was a horn attached to German dive bombers to decrease moral and insight fear. Also the Japanese zero is perhaps one of the weakest plane in terms of armor. The reason it was so feared was because of its speed. Typical a few well placed bullets can bring down a plane
This is definitely better than the feature film.

Yeah yeah it is

When will watching this ever get old? Another fantastic banger from Phly

2:30 I can not believe that those are all players
Judging from the perfect formations, the jp air armada was most likely AI.
You can see a small cloud of unorganised mass of planes ahead of it during the viewpoint from below. Those are prolly the players
Those aren’t players because when the wildcats shoot them down they don’t have a name next to the plane name

This reminded me of Battle Stations Midway, anyone agree?
Ah, yes. The game where you could command the entire fleet and pit the Montana against the Yamato. Then gun spam the bases.
Battle stations Pacific was better, change my mind

Massive props to all involved and especially WeBe for the awesome editing work
Trust me, it was cooler playing it. There was one instance when we first met the US fleet (I was a Soryu 1 Kate) and we couldnt see anything through the clouds until I spotted the USS Portland. We descended through the clouds and there they were, the whole goddamn fleet. It was my squadron that sunk the Yorktown.
