Hey, I've been diabetic since 18 and now 31 and I know absolutely no type 1 diabetics! Really happy to have found this channel by accident as its refreshing to hear your experiences and maybe I can take some inspiration from you. Cheers

It really does help to know other type 1s and learn from each other!

@@diabeticbeckyfitness4879 hey can I ask you how you keep your blood levels relatively steady with no extreme highs or lows? I find as soon as I eat, it spikes super quickly and I have to wait an hr or 2 for the insulin to start going back down to normal again. It might be that I'm being too carb heavy I think...
Really appreciate the content. I might seenif there are any type 1 active forums about to learn from others...

@@andrewwilliams4104 I eat loads of carb and it's definitely manageable, the main thing will be how long you leave your pre bolus. For example if I'm eating breakfast without having done any exercise prior, I'll need to leave 30-40 minutes for the pre bolus to kick in before I eat, where as in the evening I'm much more insulin sensitive and only need about 10 minutes. I also found I need smaller insulin ratio to bring down a blood sugar over 16. for example if I'm around 12, I'll only need 1u to bring me down by 3, whereas if I'm 18, I'll need 1u to bring me down by 1.5, so it's about working out your threshold for when you need to adjust your correction ratio - everyone's different

I'm going through the same exact issues. Been on a Tandem pump w/ Dexcom combo since June and it has been such a struggle. Agree that when it works it works well. It's like having the plane on autopilot, but man when it goes wrong it feels like the autopilot is flying the plane at a mountain and you're trying to take over and avert disaster. Also had an issue yesterday and today w/ infusion site needing to be changed but I resisted doing so b/c well....I am in America and if I use more supplies than I'm allotted insurance doesn't want to pay for replacements (I hate my country). Finally gave in and changed infusion set after glucose rose to 300 and kept trying to rise and now finally I'm on the descent and trying not to have a hard landing.
Honestly hate being on the pump and only reason I'm on it is so I can lose weight (found your channel looking for type 1 exercise tips) and I'm happy to say that in the past few weeks since starting to work out again I've lost 8 pounds. I was so happy when I got weighed at the doctor's office the other day I almost cried. Anyway, there are others that are dealing with what you're dealing with at any time as a diabetic and your candid video here makes me feel less alone. Hoping you feel better soon and remember you're not alone. ♥

Thank you for your really open comment. Agreed, even here where supplies are 'free', if I go over my allocation I literally can't get any more, I don't think I can even purchase extras (although I may be completely wrong, I just haven't found a way to do so.) Luckily, I seem to be prescribed plenty of infusion sites to be abele to change when needed, but reservoirs is a whole different story... Hoping you feel better soon and can find a way to make it all work for you!

Really hoping 6mm works for you. I don’t know how it differs from patch pump to tube pump but they recommended the 6mm for most unless you have carry extra tissue/weight on the area you plan on infusing. Wishing you the best luck and that this adjustment makes the difference.

I've had them for about a week now and can already see a huge difference... crazy how 3mm of tubing can do so much damage!

Hope things get better for you. I use a different pump but I enter my own personal info like Insulin sensitivity and carb ratio. As well as active insulin time. These are not quite what the pump recommends but I tend to fare a lot better with these.
