The one thing I've been trying to find in a video, a good starting point. Someone finally recommended 80hz as a good starting point. I feel vindicated. Thanks
The gain should be tuned with a multimeter. It’s easy. The square root of your total wattage multiplied by ohms. Example: 1500W x 1ohm=1500. Square root of 1500 is 38.72. Hookup multimeter, turn your head unit to clipping(or 80%of max volume if you don’t know). Gradually increase gain until you meet the number(this case 38.72). If you don’t know the square root. Simply type “square root of _____” into google and you’ll get your answer.

When it comes to subs, u can find clipping points by ear very easily and reliably. But your 4 ch. I wouldn't recommend by ear. Always use multimeter on your 4ch. Since you have it out you might as well use it for the sub amp too.
Like there's a right way and a wrong way to set gains by ear. The right way, is to play test tones and find every clipping point. The wrong way is to play music and use the gain as a volume knob. But having a multimeter is the most helpful tool you can have.

The 29.61 hz your referring to is probably the fs of the sub. Which is what you use to help build a box specific for that sub. Almost every subwoofer should be set to 80-100hz. Your subwoofers should have a frequency response specification in the information that came with it. Probably somewhere between 30hz-300hz
if im set a low pass filter around 175hz that mean my amp is always or only produce a frequency 175hz and below ? right ? my mono low pass setting is start from 50 - 200hz and my sub rated frequency response is 25 - 175hz, sorry im beginner, my monoblock dont have a subsonic filter and only have the low pass filter
no all of that is a bit complex long story short almost any sub should be around 80-100hz.. and the rating for the sub is usually the FS to help with installing it in correct box etc...

Great video. "Trust Your Ears" cannot be stressed enough. You can get detailed and use a microphone, but I bet you will find it may NOT sound quite as good as the settings you choose using your ears, or change the crossover setting on your amp much at all. Regarding the low pass filter at 80 HZ. That's too low if you wish to get a good bass drum sound as bass drums have frequencies generally 100-150 HZ. I would recommend something around 120 HZ if your subwoofer can handle that frequency. When purchasing a sub, finding one capable of 200 - 250 HZ is highly desirable if you wish for your subwoofer to be more "musical" in nature. That means you need to have an amplifier capable of a LPF in that same 200-250 HZ range. This will give you a tight hitting subwoofer without the muddy ooze found in so many other people's subwoofers. It's good to have a speaker driver capable of playing a higher frequency even if you do not plan on using that speaker at its top frequency. So getting a sub that can go to 250 HZ, but setting the low pass filter at say 120 HZ means you are not taxing the speaker. You are playing it right in the middle of its capabilities, the "sweet spot" so to say. This is also true for tweeters. Buying tweeters with a top frequency above 20,000 KHZ like 25,000-30,000 KHZ means that you will not experience distortion because again you are not pushing the speaker at its top capability. It's when a speaker is pushed to its limit that you end up with distortion. In all audio, it is nice to give yourself some room, or excess capability with your speakers, and then only use 70-80% of that capability for a better all around sound in your system, as well as longevity of the speakers. Theoretically speaking. lol. (but honestly, no BS). PS you should for the most part when purchasing a subwoofer to find one capable of below 40 HZ if listening to electronic EDM music for the best experience.

@@Silentjustin06 I'm about 2 o'clock on the gain now sounds better and I can turn my volume pass half way now . My bluetooth source level volume on the head unit was up and was causing distortion and clipping I have to do the big3 upgrade next
@@coolazznicca yeah that's sounds like it's a bit high still. Most of the time it will be somewhere between 8-12 o'clock. Its good you can go past half volume now. Say your volume max is 40. Your radio probably distorts about 35. I'd turn your amp settings all the way down. Bluetooth to Zero and turn the volume up 75% of the max your radio has. Slowly turn your gain up until it sounds like its distorting. Then back it down until it sounds good again. I would do highs first if you have a amp on them. HPF set to 150-200hz should be a safe crossover. Then do the same with your subwoofers. LPF should be at 80-100hz. The goal is to match the amp volume(gain) to the radio.

What if I set my radio xover to 80, 6 way active xover to 75, and my amp’s xover to 70? All highpass on 6.5’s.

Very Helpful!
With my taramp HD3000 I'm getting bass from the hpf and voice from the lpf. I have the gain and HPF all the way to the right with LPF and bass boost to the left. I just don't feel like I'm getting clean bass from the amp
Sounds like you have your HPF switch off and your LPF switch on full. Sounds like you have your gain set to max and your HPF set to its highest cut off. Your not going to get any good bass with the gain all the way up. Hit me up if you still need help. I'll do my best to help
Thanks for the info
@@Silentjustin06 how would I go about setting amp ? On mines I’m still a lil confused should I set the volume to half way or above half way ? I want more boom boom and deeper bass at lower volume to half volume
So what’s pass through?
i dont see sub sonic on my home theatre sub.....
The earrings are a "bit", right? (please say yes)
Thank you for that I saw a video of the other day where the guy was talking about putting your low pass at what your box could handle which mine could handle 32 and he said double it so my dumbass put it on 60 and I started smelling my Subs
So speakers @120hz and subwoofer @80hz .... is a good setting ?????
Well, do you like the way it sounds?
yeah yeah. but cannot the amplifier
He looks like he is really trying to wear his personality but the company needs him in uniform
On a Subsonic Filter 20hz - 50hz
What would it be at 12:00 position? 35hz?
20+50=70hz
70/2= 35hz
Thanks for anybody that can’t help me figure it out..
Also, LPF 20hz - 200hz
Half way would be 110hz and 9:00 position being 55hz?
“Gauges not required” damn there was me thinking my gauges finally had something going for them
Who’s got the hook up on doing a recone on subwoofers Can get the parts to do it my self for 70 bucks and that other company wants 250 to do the job
You’d assume a guy who works for a company like DD would advise you to use an oscope and a Distortion Detector…
It's not rocket science 🤷♂️
You as a customer dealing with audio should already know that. They have videos for beginners and first timers

The amps are for sale, if you buy the amplifier suddenly has been broken down, and want to repair, they will not serve you, and say that better buy a new one.
