    It does have continuous focus. You have to activate af-f on live view mate.

    • @DigitalGojaUSA
      @DigitalGojaUSA  8 років тому

      Hi there! I'm afraid this Nikon does way too much "hunting" when focusing in video, Nikon's response is to use manual focus for more professional results in your video production.

    • @tash_views
      @tash_views 8 років тому +7

      But it is not that it doesn't have continuous autofocus at all in live view right? The focus system is,as you said,not very efficient true. But saying it doesn't have continuous auto is not right,is it mate?

    Hello. Don't know if you guys will answer or if it's just a fault of my bad photography skills, but I shot some portraits of a friend today in daylight with Aperture Priority and the lowest aperture to get the shallow depth of field ( I have a Nikon D3300 with a Sigma 18-250mm lens ) and the photos looked insanely good from a distance, but I just needed to zoom in a bit and they were grainy and had chromatic abberation in the background. Is my lens damaged as I dropped it 1 year ago or am I just bad at photos?

    • @DigitalGojaUSA
      @DigitalGojaUSA  5 років тому

      Chromatic aberration is a common problem in lenses, it may not be from dropping the lens (although I would probably have the lens checked out for other issues. Typically more expensive zoom lenses have more advanced optical designs and improved coatings to reduce or eliminate the effect. Since you are using an all-in-one type lens CA (chromatic aberration) may be more apparent at certain focal lengths, and even apertures are chosen. I would recommend you to set your camera to Raw instead of shooting in JPG and CA or color fringing could be corrected in a RAW editor like Adobe Lightroom. If your images look "Grainy" make sure to keep an eye on your ISO. When you extend the lens out it reduces the maximum aperture limiting it's light gathering capabilities. Even in bright light, the camera might have to choose a higher ISO, and that is where you will start noticing more noise or grain in the image. One other thing, if you underexpose the image and have to lighten it up afterward you will start to see noise in the shadow regions. We hope that helps.

    Actually this camera does indeed have continuous focus while shooting video. I use it all the time, you have to go to P setting on dial. Go to video recorder display video on screen, press the I button and select AF-F..

      Hi there! When done this way, It has a huge amount of "hunting" involved. Keep in mind that when recording on P mode, your videos won't be in the best quality available and you will have to edit/fix them post production.

      Hello Guru Vishnu. It's recommended to remove the battery after it has completed charging. Most original chargers will stop charging the battery once complete. If the battery has changed shape in any way please properly discard the battery.

    Hi. I have a problem with my camera's AF-S and AF-F. When I set it into Live View, the shutter won't release. However, when I switch it to MF, the camera works. May I ask what seems to be the problem with the auto-focus in this case? Any action you may suggest will be much appreciated. This is the first time I encountered this problem.
    P.S. My cam is

    • @DigitalGojaUSA

      Hi, Daisyree Lorraine Jamito! In AF-S (single frame AF) the camera will only trigger the shutter once the camera acquires focus. In MF mode, the shutter can be released whether or not focus has been achieved.

      @@DigitalGojaUSA Thanks for the reply Sir. It used to work in such a way before. I just do long press when using Live View and the shutter releases as soon as the lens finds focus. It was only this time that the shutter won't work in auto focus. It's so hard to press. Only triggers when switched to MF mode.

In the other hand the D3400 is cheaper and has a lighter weight, it's a newer camera and has an improved battery life. ;)
