Incredible informational video. You used simple to understand language for beginners, paused at the right moments, spoke slow so we could follow but no too slow to where we were waiting for you to continue onto the next point, and didn't have a monotonous/robotic way of describing which would easily bore people. I am a beginner and I appreciated this so much. I literally was able to watch this ONCE and leave using these features of my camera naturally with not one problem or any confusion. Thanks again!
Thank you!
Emily Cooke yeah really helpful
D3300 & D3200 Focusing Video is up. Sorry this has taken so long, but at least I hope it helps you guys learn your cameras! Enjoy!
You are literally a Professor in explaining DSLR functions. I learned so much man, in less than 2 months. It's all because of you.
The Camera Guy You too speak words of wisdom! This is all I do now :) Thank you for your appreciation.

Absolutely the best beginner tutorial for Nikon focusing system I have seen to date. Thank you for making this video.
Simple, concise, and clear ! Best focusing tutorial I've seen out there, thanks a lot for this.
Incredibly informative, helpful, and refreshingly straightforward. I wish I had found this video first, instead of the 5th video, because this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Michael!
Your video was short and to the point, I had no trouble focusing.
4 years later, this comment is still on point.
Thank you so much! My camera was stuck on the multi-focus points mode and I was getting super frustrated trying to focus on eyes and having it change on me! Your tutorial answered my question and walked me through how to change it back to the single point mode. Ah, so much better! Thank you!
I have been looking to understand Focus and after seeing tons of tutorials, this is the most clear explanation. Thanks MichaelTheMentor Awesome work !!!
Many thanks for this. I bought the camera yesterday and must have changed a setting without knowing I'd done so and couldn't get it to auto-focus.
After watching this video it's now fine.
Saved me a lot of stress!!
Keep up the good work.
I have a feeling I'll be re-visiting.
Thank you thank you thank you. This one video literally cleared up several questions i have had. Ive looked through many videos that try to answer them but none have done so in this fashion. So again thank you for the clear and concise explanation of these concepts. Subbed.
This video deserves way more views and likes than it currently has. Even if you have a different camera model it should be helpful. Michael explains the Focusing in the simplest way possible.
Watching this for the first time, and even if it was shot 7 years ago, It is highly informative and useful than many other videos.
One of the best articulate tutorials on youtube I have seen.
My gawd you are THE BEST at explaining the things ppl (beginners) need to know about photography and cameras. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you for taking the time to do these tutorials... THANK YOU!! I just subscribed:-)
This helped a lot! Especially with where the camera focuses! Never could figure out how to change the focal point! So thank you very much!
I got a d3200 2 days ago and this video has been a huge help, thank you so much. I will definitely be checking out your crash course.
Very thorough and easy to understand. I've watched plenty of other videos on this subject and either they were too technical or explained too quickly to grasp anything. You made it easy and simple to understand, thanks.
That's awesome Michael .The way you modulated your voice and paused when required shows good a trainer you are ! I learned a lot from this video Thanks a lot
Thank you Michael! Really helpful. Was about to ask for a video for focussing with video and then saw your comment below. Hope that one is also as useful. Thanks again.
I started off with the auto mode and slowly graduated to the Manual mode. The manual mode indeed gives absolute control over the camera. There are certain situations where computers are just not able to make the best possible decision, so I suggest people to start experimenting with manual mode. Experiment with the ISO levels, Shutter speed and aperture. And Manual focusing is a must when it comes to Macro Photography. Great video as always
I found this very helpful as I utilize videos and photos extensively on my fitness website. I'm finding it more and more important to produce better quality images so learning through your videos is helping immensely ! Thank you.
Thank you! I was watching another video and they were talking about changing the focus point but didn't show how they got there. Now I get it!
Great hint. As I am a very new begginer, it helped me a lot with the focusing set up in my camera D3300. Thank you all the way from Brazil.
Since switching from Canon to Nikon, I couldn't figure out how to change my focus point (and it was driving me absolutely batty since my focus points kept changing to nothing I wanted). Thanks for the clear description. Seems so easy now! :D
You made the focus options on my D3300 very easy to understand. Much appreciated!
Thank you! Practical demonstration is a lot easier to understand than manuals. One more reason I make most of my photo gear purchases from your organization.
Perfectly explained. And no annoying background music (it's an 'age' thing)! Thanks...
You are the most amazing teacher!!! Thank you so very much for posting this video.
Excellent video. It's taught me more than the manual could ever have done.
Thanks
Beautifully explained. Thank you!
Thanks Mike! This helped out a lot. I can't believe that I did not look this up before. I am quite the amateur and shot my first concert a couple of weeks ago. I tried out your suggestions on my son running around and I was totally shocked at the quality of the subject and my pictures. I sure missed out on some great shots at the concert that came out blurred prior to watching this.
Michael Thanks a lot for this video. Believe it or not I was under the impression that my 3200 did not auto focus. I was more convinced of this after calling Nikon to find out why it wasn't auto focusing & being told " not all 3200 auto focus" I've since found out that the customer service reps Nikon has answering there phones know as much or much less than I do. After watching your video realized that I had it in MF the entire time. I'm ashamed to say that I've had the camera almost six months & have used it many times not realizing that fact. Again this video had been the most useful & informative that I have come across on the 3200. Thanks for taking the time to make it.
This is an excellent tutorial, for an absolute beginner like me,this has been a boon.Thank you so much !!

You are the best, looking forward for more videos.- Thank you
Great video. I've just purchased a D3200 which I had a chance to try out a couple of weeks ago. I love the flexibility. I haven't used this grade of camera since the mid 70's when I shot with a Cannon F-1. They've come a long way.
One suggestion (as a web designer). You might consider placing your website link at the beginning of this description as well. That way your viewers do not have to use the "show more" to find your link.
Very nice tips! Thanks for sharing
This was a very helpful video! Thanks!
Highly informative. I won't be upgrading my camera to a full frame anytime soon now that I can learn much more with the d3200
Moaz Qadri Me as well.

thanks for the great tutorial.... I needed the step by step info! Hopefully you'll share more great tips for us soon!!!!
oh and I forgot to ask... what is the lens that you have on this video? doesn't look like the standard 18-55 that came with camera. Looking for a good portrait lens that is affordable since I'm just starting out (as a side note I'd love to take more landscape photos as well instead of always using smartphone) Any suggestions on either/both? THANKS AGAIN!
