China is so so beautiful and the way they have preserved their Buddhist heritage is heartwarming (when I visited in 2018) I hope they continue to protect and promote the Dharmic traditions to the world

China's currency is RMB yuan and not yen, that's Japanese currency not accepted in China. Approx. $1 USD=6.91 yuan, $1 USD= ¥137.41 yen. People could be confused when you're confused.

Holy cow, deer/dear David. OMG. How much more can you improve on these documentaries!!! I loved how you transitioned from one video to the next: so effortlessly. I am finally done with this one and then Suriname popped up and I still have Mexico next. Loved ALL the food, from the dumplings, baos, wontons (no red meat for me), to the noodles (I find the Shanghai noodles too thick and doughy. We get it here in Toronto from the mall eatery.) The way they put the soup inside the dumplings is that they make the broth, add gelatin, freeze it, cut it in cubes and then put one inside the dumpling along with the meat and when you heat it up, the cube melts et voila. The open-faced dumpling is called shu mai which I love. I noticed that you left one (was that one for me?) LoL. Anyway, I enjoyed this one with all the little nuggets of history you put into it. Huge, clean and very well kept and maintained city. Can't ask for more. To quote you, "one more thing", did you ever go to Hong Kong? Would be very interested to see how it is today since Britain handed it back to China. Anyway, I am trying to keep it short because 4 hours are a long time. Job well done. So now I am jetting off to Ciudad Mejico and then to the one you posted this morning. David, you are a beast, hahaha. Have a great weekend.

When I Lived in NYC, I ate at a High End Chinese Restaurant that Specialized in Black Rice with Different Marinated Beef Options, and I have been trying to find a restaurant that serves similar beef options with that black rice and have not been able to find any! Since Leaving NYC, I Have Lived in Hong Kong Twice, and Nepal Once!

When you eat Haidilao, you have not even go to the sauce station to adjust your own sauce. This is the big big wrong way to eat it❌😂 As a Chinese, I can’t stand it anymore😂
The soup dumpling - you need to take a bite to open it, drink the soup inside and then eat the dumplings. This is the way how you eat it while it is still hot without burning yourself

In California, we call the "you tiao" a "Chinese Donut". It's also used as an accompaniment for congee (Cantonese porridge). The Shanghainese breakfast you had is similar to what is enjoyed in Taiwan. Lots of cross-over between the two.
Okay as the video got into the middle part you changed into yourself but in the beginning you were sounding and acting like Mark, I liked it when you were yourself with your own voice and mannerisms whole demeanor changed I liked that. Be yourself David you are in China and people out here love seeing other countries and you are bringing them that, just be yourself, don't try and be someone else.

Breakfast is my favorite food in the world and spicy sauces but cant go crazy with the spice that early. I have no gallbladder and have colitis but i still enjoy my food searching journeys. I love sweet hot sauce if you plan on making anything like that. Like a spicy hoisin or sweet heat teriyaki
Sorry to hear about your serious health-problems. Are they related to eating too much? Or heavy consumption of meats? Fried foods? I learned that the gallbladder assists with digestion of fats; so overeating fatty foods could overwork the small organ. Colitis tends to reflect two problems: too much acidic food (e.g. meats) . . . and too little fibre (found only in foods from plants/Nature).
Guangzhou with its authentic Cantonese food is the best. There are Eight Major Regional Chinese Cuisines in China, and Cantonese is famous with a saying “eat in Guangzhou”. So next time, check out all the gourmet food in Guangzhou as well, another first-tiered city in China. ❤❤❤

Never put the whole xiaolongbao into your mouth when it's still hot. The correct way to eat it is to put it in a spoon, tear a small hole and the upper side and let the steam out, sip all the soup in it, and then eatthe whole thing.
David when you eat noodles it eat means slurping and it was called by the old legend " SassEsnacks " I have learnt from her ASMR channel one of the early legends in food and ASMR, sadly she passed away from cancer. 😞😓😢

Yes, I think that David often talks too fast, eats too fast, and everything goes by too fast. Easy to make mistakes with pronunciation if you are not taking time to listen well, to take time to digest things.......He likes food, but still has much to learn about safe and healthy eating.....e.g., take small portions; . . . eat a small mouthful at a time (never stuff your face and then make chewing difficult and swallowing potentially dangerous/choking); . . . chew well (don't just wolf it down) . . . stop when you are almost full . . . and take the rest with you for later.....
Hi David, I watching the Wanda South Africa yesterday. What are you explore all the food continent are I know you’re in Shanghai China, your Airbnb’s cheap and the food is cheap how much is a ticket though from America I live close to Philly airport.
Bro flight and and Airbnb set aside. If they have Airbnb. If not, do they have cheaper options? I don’t care for fancy hotels. From my travels I realized. I don’t spend anytime in the room besides sleep and getting ready. What do you think my budget should be for food and small gifts for 10 days? Can’t fly back with too much stuff.
No airbnb recent years because they gave up chinese market. Hotel is quite cheap. For me 100euros/day for all the cost is enough. Gift you can buy whatever you like

Never put the whole xiaolongbao into your mouth when it's still hot. The correct way to eat it is to put it in a spoon, tear a small hole and the upper side and let the steam out, sip all the soup in it, and then eatthe whole thing.

Yes, I think that David often talks too fast, eats too fast, and everything goes by too fast. Easy to make mistakes with pronunciation if you are not taking time to listen well, to take time to digest things.......He likes food, but still has much to learn about safe and healthy eating.....e.g., take small portions; . . . eat a small mouthful at a time (never stuff your face and then make chewing difficult and swallowing potentially dangerous/choking); . . . chew well (don't just wolf it down) . . . stop when you are almost full . . . and take the rest with you for later.....

No airbnb recent years because they gave up chinese market. Hotel is quite cheap. For me 100euros/day for all the cost is enough. Gift you can buy whatever you like
