Human Sadness sounds like the Strokes because it uses a chord progression Julian uses a lot. In the New Abnormal it's used for sure in Adults are Talking, and if I remember correctly also in At the Door and Ode to The Mets. If you know your harmony theory, it's a ii-I-V-IV progression. It can also be ii-I-V-vi, they are basically the same Edit: and yes, Dare I Care also has this same chord progression
This was great, Manny! Definitely an album that rewards multiple listens. The first times I put it on I was overwhelmed and could never get through the entire thing. Years later I keep coming back to it and finding little details I didn't know were there. If you feel intrigued after your first listen, that's enough. And it's not an album to casually play for your friends, for sure, I wouldn't dream of trying to slip one of these songs to the queue. Virtue's more accessible and my friends like that one a lot. As to what it is about, no clue really, it feels like a band from a future dystopia just singing about different themes like bands do today, only it's a different world so it's all very strange. Father Electricity is one of my favorite tracks by the way, how the sheer beauty of that chorus and guitar line cuts to the surface through all the noise and shines for a little bit, beautiful.
CANT WAIT FOR YOU TO REACT TO VIRTUE 🖤🖤🖤 Jules was definitely going through something when they made this album. Especially Human Sadness. It came out after his dad died and he had sort of a complicated relationship with him. Human Sadness (imo) is about regret and running away from your past, only to realize you’re still in it because you can’t let go. Such a heartbreaking song, yet if I don’t listen to it at least twice a day, I start deteriorating 😭
these guys are part of music that i follow religiously. the voidz is darkness, julian casablancas and the strokes are love and pain, green day is my light and energy in a pure almost childlike way, and pink floyd/syd barrett is the distortion of light imagination. at least for me lol. i could give a divine aspect to each real rock band i listen to but these i listed are the ones i follow as if i was the child of their spirit in some way
Second album is fucking fantastic. Love it as much as the first, and the hooks (if you're a musician you know this is infinitely harder to come up with than 10 min solos or noise) are way better quality on virtue...
@@beefsupreme694 Julian Casablancas is all about hooks and stuff- no matter what he does he's gonna do some chorus and hooks. Tyranny was just a more coherent brand of an album from start to finish. Virtue was like 2 albums smashed in to one thematically imo.
@@beefsupreme694 Virtue for me was a little disappointing, it seemed to me that they weren't having a good day, and the first 6 songs on the album are very different, especially Qyurryus which is fantastic.

Human sadness is my favorite song
Yep!
This album got me in another dimension i wish i could relive the first time i heard it. seeing you react this way gave me alot of joy
Best album of the decade. You have to listen it several times but nintendo blood, human sadness, m.a.d. and dare i care are fuckin masterpieces.
Human sadness is really beautiful ♤.
¡Great reaction! Saludos desde México 🇲🇽

Deep.
Great album.. Virtue is just as good if not better! Nice reaction, mate -- I enjoyed it
Thanks
15:59 my reaction to Human Sadness too, buddy
The textures they use are so all over the place and off that you find yourself relistening until you’re addicted to the expressionism and craziness
Julian is such a god of music he can make this sound good
@@TrashSquad 100% I can't wait for Voidz3 -- hopefully early 2022!
the strokes song you heard in dare i care was one way trigger from comedown machine
Great reaction, love your vids so much, can't wait to see you react to virtue, I personally like that ones even better.
Thank you

Mozart requiem is in Human Sadness
You have got to do their next album Virtue
It's an amazing album. The second one Virtue is not as good, it's kind of more like a strokes album. But Tyranny is experimental, but not annoying.

The volume issue was on your end, not the album
Lol it was so random I thought it could have been done by them on purpose.
7:18 Funny, 'cause they jokingly call themselves a "cyber arabic prison jazz" band lol
Thank you!
thanks so much for this
REACT TO THE VOIDZ !! 😂 Great reaction! ⬆️
You seemed stuck trying to remember what the end of Crunch Punch sounded like. This is what it continues into. ua-cam.com/video/2K2zJSN7lQs/v-deo.html
The reaction after Human Sadness pretty much sums it up.
For me, it's like the Bohemian Rhapsody of the grief process.
You should do the Voidz second album "Virtue" at some point.
That album is much of the same but slightly more poppy.
now you have to react to virtue, its even better
Best album ever??
