In my humble opinion, buffing a common joker to an obscene mult just to make a certain enhancement better seems a little strange. At this point I would buff the wild cards somehow.
@@drspectred If wild cards where much worse then you should just buff the lovers to 2-4 cards, at current wild cards don't synergize with anything except those that a well built deck could better utilize (and bosses yay negative synergy{btw permanant marker is perfect}). They are synergisticly as bad as bonus and mult cards except they only improve your score if the suit actually effects the value of your hand, so they are basicly only useful for flush adjacent strategy which is already the easiest hand to obtain. And to top it off you only get one for your tarrot card as if they have the same value as a steel or glass card, the same value as xMult on top of your jokers? I think having bad options is good for balance (you can't high roll if theres no low roll) but lovers is a little too bad imo.
The scope of the Extra Credit Mod is not to rebalance any of the existing game elements, only to add new game pieces into the existing landscape. In this universe, Lovers and Wilds are 1-to-1, so that is taken into consideration.
There really should be some kind of indicator in this mod showing what jokers choose their suit/rank based on your deck composition and which ones don’t. This is a really important distinction that you’re just expected to learn and memorize externally
This information is hidden in the vanilla game. In an 8-Ante context, it doesn't actually matter much which selection logic is used by Castle, Rebate, Idol, or Ancient Joker. You are not likely to build your deck to the point it matters, so it's not necessary that you be given this information as a player. You take the Joker, in the moment, if the effect is desirable for your current build. The Extra Credit Jokers, of which there are three, universally use the Ancient Joker selection logic.

A small related thought, if we did want to make the selection routine known to the player, perhaps "[x] changes every round" could exist alongside "[x] changes *randomly* every round." Though maybe that's too subtle for lay-players to pick up on anyway.
Ambrosia is such excellent design. Makes skipping feel worth it, but you have to stop and play at some point to use those spectral cards or it gets destroyed, meaning you have to balance skipping and playing. Also, the negative effects of spectral cards means you probably can't just cycle to get the ones you want like cryptid or ectoplasm. Excellent way to incorporate the food rule into it as well, with it having a destroy condition. Whoever designed it, genuinely really well done it's elegant, unique and interesting in an already rich design space.
Really enjoying this new era of balatro every day. I think the reliable, high win rate pair builds started to get a little predictable and stale. I like the higher tier hand builds with a more varied strategy/build
You get a limited amount of Booster Packs, exactly two per Round, up to about 50 total. When you first pick up Seed Money, it's often still "worth it" to keep opening all Boosters, even at the cost of some Interest. And then later it's pretty easy to forget you have Seed Money. It's a 50-50 coin flip whether or not I remember.
