Not sure if a lot of people know this but those of Asian, African and Native American descent have naturally low arches which is normal and doesn't cause problems in those particular races for the most part. In fact it improves traction and sprinting ability. The medical community is heavily weighted towards Caucasian anatomy so the assumptions about flat feet, low arches and flexible flat feet are based on the Caucasian anatomy. However, those of Caucasian descent typically run into problems when they do in fact have low arches. Just food for thought.....by the way this was confirmed by my Podiatrist.

I just saw this video and I have to tell everyone I am not sure about this procedure. I too have flat feet that were inherited from a family member and have been dealing with it all my life and now I am 36. In my 20's I mostly just dealt with It
and I did not think it would not bother me or would ever get any worse. It did much, much worse actually. By the time I married at 30 and had three children later the pain of my feet left both of them curving in and it made it painful to walk. I also had trouble finding shoes that would fit my foot because of no arch you wear out your shoes fast. I went to a store that specializes in foot care and they put me on one of those machines by Dr. Shultz's that show you where your trouble areas are on your foot. I was amazed to see my foot in that way and that my foot basically scared me for the first time in my life! Three days later I called a doctor and not just any doctor I found the best doctor who is a Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle reconstruction and he told me that I need a Triple Arthrodesis with a gastronomies recession. I trusted my doctor and I had the surgery on my left foot a few weeks later. It was a lot of work to go through it all , but it was worth it! I had it done last may and have been in 3 cast changes, had a walking air cast, had a brace on my ankle, had a wheel chair, crutches, and knee roller. This summer I learned how to walk with normal foot! It has been a great achievement for me and for my foot and for the quality of my life! It was so successful I am doing it all again in February. Words of advice: the flat feet problem any of you are having is not going away ever- if you love yourself and your life and don't want to live with this problem with your feet anymore go to a doctor. Your feet may not be as bad as mine but a orthopedic surgeon could take a few looks at your foot and could tell you what is wrong with them. Trust your doctor and change your life- I know I did for the first time of my life I took care of me!

There is no drilling or screwing involved with the HyProCure® procedure. The stent simply slides into the natural space inside the foot. No invasive force is needed to insert it. The threads on the stent are only to allow for the scar tissue to form around the grooves and lock the device in place during the normal healing process. If a deformity is present, the sooner it is treated the less damage will occur. You don’t want to wait for pain. At that point there may be irreversible damage.

The procedure is surprisingly affordable and often covered by insurance. Check with your foot and ankle specialist or with your insurance carrier for specific coverage details.
If you don't have coverage available for the procedure, be sure to discuss an out-of-pocket package price with your doctor, as well as any financing and/or payment options that may be available.

Absolutely! Once the tissues surrounding the implant are healed, which typically occurs 4-6 weeks after the procedure, there should be no limitations in your physical activity. The abnormal motion is no longer present and normal motion will occur. Usually, there is a significant improvement in running, jumping, etc. You can view testimonials on the HyProCure website.

The loss of the arch, totally or partially (semi), is not just an aesthetic variation, but rather a symptom of the loss of proper alignment of the internal structures of the foot due to talotarsal displacement. The foot’s normal balance is broken and the bones get rearranged and misaligned. This creates a weakened foot prone to pain and discomfort. This often leads to other issues in the foot, as well as in the rest of the body. There is more information on flat feet on the HyProCure website.

The EOTTS procedure restores the normal range of motion of the ankle on the heel and navicular bones. It does not block motion in other areas of the foot. Your choice of strike in your running should not be impacted by the procedure.

I have really flat feet, which has caused my knees and ankles to be very weak and inflexible. I play basketball and ultimate frisbee, but I have no confidence in doing sharp cuts or landing from jumping high. This disorder is stopping me from improving in sports and I really want to fix this problem. I trust that HyProCure will fix my arches and realign my ankle bones but will it stop me from playing sports? I really need an answer.

Since we are dealing with walking, this is pretty important. I have flex flat feet and I am in the Army. Overseas, the German doctors said that American doctors are clueless when it comes to this procedure. Where can I get scientific evidence showing the results with this procedure? Or who do I need to contact for more info like that?

HyProCure is not inserted into a joint. It occupies a naturally occurring space in between the bones of the hindfoot. This space is called the sinus tarsi. HyProCure acts as a pivot, realigning the surfaces of the bones to their natural orientation. The bones glide smoothly over the device.
For more information, consult with a HyProCure specialist. To find a surgeon near you visit the doctor locator on the HyProCure website.

    (3) (getting a slighly flatter sole each time until you get used to it), and shoes that offer more flex for "flattening". This will hurt for awhile as your bones, nerves, tendons and ligaments get used to the transition. Contrary to pop medicine, barefoot is best when possible, to re-acclimate your feet with the proper flexation. Due to your medical condition, keep proper insoles close, but this has been gradually but effectively working for me after a severe foot injury. I empathize, good luck!

People suffering with talotarsal joint displacement experience excessive strain to the posterior tibial tendon due to the repeated excessive forces exerted from the recurrent dislocation. Over time, this excessive strain can lead to symptoms, even a rupture of the tendon. An accessory navicular is most of the time present at birth. It can lead to acquired flat foot and may be present with or without talotarsal dislocation.

I'm currently 19 and have recently in the past 8 months have taken up a lot of sport. I started feeling pain which i believe was a stress fracture near the tibial tendon which put me out of sport for a while, for about 2 months. I started playing again and started feeling knee pains, ankle pains, stiffening of legs and etc. I went to multiple doctors and podiatrist stating i had fat fleet of which my end result, orthotics. I believe i have semi flexible flat foot but im unsure of where to go now

  • @Bxtskul1l

Flat feet is not a disease. I think they are over-treated in regards to the 'flexible' flat foot. I used to get shin splints when I ran so I thought I needed orthotics. Turns out getting shin splints is just something you need to work through if you're a beginning runner. I threw out my orthotics and began taping my arches, now I don't even do that. The body adapts.

Talotarsal dislocation may not always cause foot pain, but has been shown to result or contribute to other conditions, including flat feet, plantar fasciitis or heel pain, overpronation, bunions, heel spurs, and more - as well as the direct cause of symptoms in the rest of the body such as knee pain, hip pain, back pain, and even complications in the neck and shoulders. Many scientific studies support this. Please see our videos and presentations on heel, knee and back pain.

I'm an RMT, I really believe in doing all you can through exercise and soft tissue work before trying any surgical procedures no matter how invasive. Reason being after surgery you are going to have to doPhysiotherapy and other rehabilitation modalities. So If you can achieve the same if not better results though manual therapy and exercise, why bother with surgery? THERE IS NEVER A QUICK FIX WITH THE HUMAN BODY!!!! muscles can be trained through simple specific exercise and commitment from YOU!

    (2) as children, our feet are abused the second they are forced into ANY shoe that elevates the heel and compresses the bones in the foot. The human foot is desingned to naturally FLEX AND FLATTEN whe walking/running, and to contact the ground on the ball, NOT THE HEEL shoes that are stiff and with raised heels do not allow this. Most people were never taught this. The footprints you leave in the sand is testament to how you're SUPPOSED to walk. Try to (gradually) progress to an even sole...

I really need to fix my flat feet. They are extremely flat. It feels like when I stand putting pressure on my feet (especially the left foot), my ankle is going to break. It sucks having flat feet because it puts me at a disadvantage in rugby training. I stop jogging for all the wrong reasons, not be cause I'm out of breathe and need a rest, but because my feet are in pain! It's like my mind wants me to keep running, but my feet are telling me to have a rest. I just can't handle it. I'm 18 now so I guess it's too late to do anything .... Well, I'm still going to the orthodontist though!

The good old "flat foot fear factor." Docs used it to sell my mom all kinds of ugly orthopedic shoes and expensive inserts. Never mind that nearly everyone in my family has flat feet and it's probably just genetic... "Pay me to fix something that ain't broken!" If there is pain, physical limitation, or flat feet are a change from your "normal" then treatment may be warranted. Otherwise, some people are just born with flat feet and I don't think that widespread panic is in order.
