  • On November 11, 1999 Terry Kelly was in a Shoppers Drug Mart store in
Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. At 10:55 AM an announcement came over the
store's PA asking customers who would still be on the premises at 11:00 AM
to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who have
    sacrificed so much for us.
This is the link to the official version of it. • Terry Kelly - A Pittan...

same. I wonder if they'll do it at my high school this year. I doubt they will, because they haven't done it the past two years I've been there. they bring in rcmp, students who are in air cadets, and make a bunch of speeches and have our minutes of silence.

Exactly my point, which is why I think the "pittance of time" is a silly ritual. Every single day, without fail, I think about all I have and know that many people across the world would give anything to have these kinds of opportunities. But we didn't get these luxuries for nothing - we got them because of all the soldiers and volunteers who answered a call to arms and took a stand against injustice.

We listened to this everyday on Remembrance Day and my school would go to the graveyard in my city with a huge side for fallen veterans. It was a military history school. We’d lay flags on every single headstone, even one’s buried under snow. We had a ceremony there, our flags, bagpipe player. It was beautiful and I loved doing it.
Too bad it’s closed now. :(
But this song still makes my heart squeeze sooo much. 😭😭

      Judge you?, not likely!.
Your short comments show a fine character of self, no doubt learned from your parents and theirs also.
      Don't judge?, - no, never.
Your brief words, 'from the age of six', say much, very much.
Clearly, you are a product of your family, and, significantly, your family's very fine ancestry.
Clearly, an ancestry to be proud of.
'Don't judge me'?, not likely!, NO, not ever, never.

Many people are like the man in the video, they just don't understand. I'm currently a air cadet in Canada and after 5 years I truly understand their sacrifice. All the times I stand at attention and salute to the Canada flag, knowing that they died for me to have a chance to do that. All of the friendship I've made and the hardships of military work. The felling of marching and being the commander for my city's Remembrance Day. I can say that I can truly die for my country. For I love Canada and I when Take arms and Think about all of the soldiers who died for us I know I'm doing the right thing

My dad went to war, and I was lucky enough to get him back, but this song makes me cry just thinking about what might have happened. To all of you who said comments that were against this song, take a moment and think. If there weren't people to fight, nothing would be as we know it. We could all be living in a literal hell. These people do everything for us and without asking anything in return but respect. Come on.

I know for many including myself, during our childhood, every year we'd pay respects to these troops by listenting to this legendary song, espically back when we use to go to school, and it sort of became a symbol.
May God bless all of them, and the lives that were lost. I remember, they'd play this all the time on the radio as a kid every year on Remembrance Day or at school. I moved back home, but I'll always have respect for those troops. How time flies, glad to see many still pay respects using this piece. Lest We Forget 🙏

I played this on the street block and only the older folks in our little town stopped and stood at the end of their street. Made me realize as a younger man how far our generation has become detached from remembering those who fought so they could enjoy the freedom those young men and women never got to see

My great grandpa was in World War II he was born 1912 and I'm 10 gladly he didn't die in the war he died by getting drunk like in 1950s. It's sad on Remembrance Day cause they always show this video on assembly. And I'm in grade 5 so in grade 5 you learn about World War I and World War II I'm excited to learn cause it's interesting about why did it start or there are lots of questions but I also love Remembrance Day it's makes me happy and sad :( :) that is how I feel lol

We never talk about World War One because it wasn't a really big war for us here in Canada. Also this year we listened to highway of heroes. It's actually a very good song

    • @yitryu
      @yitryu 7 років тому +1

You're very wrong, World War One was a very big war for those of us in Canada. WWI was the war that formed Canada as a nation, and allowed us to make our own decision in WW2 to enter it, instead of automatically being at war when England went to war. Vimy Ridge was one of the first allied victories in WWI and it was done by Canadians
