Gotta say I’m glad I waited to comment! My local Toy store had Mara and I almost lost it seeing her in the wild couple months ago. My buddy convinced me to not get her. (She was a little beat up) the last one I needed too for the line. All I could think was it was a mistake and asked him every time if she was still there, until she wasn’t!!!!! Noooooooo Anyways, at a surprise bday party by my wife, my friend was there and had a special package for me. He had gotten her for me!!!!!!
@tydiriumhanger1320 so I was going through some of my toys that I have that I have pit up in the attic that I don't display and came across the battle wagon at the time I didn't know what it was. Took a few pics went down the rabbit hole and found you. Trying to find how much one is worth is very difficult, do you have any idea?
Fantastic review.Blackstar was a big part of my childhood. Now I have a near complete collection. Missing only Meutons handcuffs, green Warlocks figure peg,the saddle from the green/yellow warlock and two stands from wind machine's ball.
Wow!! This made my day. I’m planning out a Masterverse version of Blackstar. Love the idea of the character, especially his history as a contentious character of color. Right up my alley. The name alone, Blackstar, is badass for its day. I never got any of the toys, but loved the show as a kid and drooled over my copy of the Galoob catalog back in the day. I dreamed of that giant Trobbit dirigible as a kid.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 You're speaking my language, friend. I've been trying to work out a way to make Thundarr and Princess Ariel happen in 7" form. I'd also love all of the Alex Toth Hanna Barbera characters, especially ones that fit into the broad science-fantasy vibe alongside MOTU, Mythic Legions, Animals of the Warrior Kingdom, Thundercats, etc. that I got going on on my shelf. So I'm thinking about certain character designs from Herculoids, Mightor, Teen Force, Space Ghost, Shazzan...hell, even some designs from The New Adventures of Huck Finn. Such great designs in this stuff, some even by King Kirby!
Blackstar was my stuff back in 1980. CBS had me locked in for those 30 min back then. Thundarr the Barbarian was my other fix on ABC. I was all about swords and sorcery back then. I loved the live action Wizards and Warriors on CBS too.
Hi, great content I'm a big fan of BlackStar and I have a decent Collection of figures and vehicle.A holy grail Warlock still missing from my collection together with Triton, the flying bull...
The ice castle concept, would make the coolest large, snow globe with the lonely, empty, eyed, overlord staring out of the castle into grey day with the falling snow! Kind of a summary of Blackstar, memento piece. ❄
Blackstar was a fun 80's cartoon, even got to own the toy of him. Sadly used his power sword as a screwdriver one day, ruining the sword. Did learn though to never use cool toy accessory items as real world tool stand ins. Sadly had to learn a year later that trimming He-Man's sword to a point does not make it more bad ass. It just makes it look like a used tooth-pick.
I loved this cartoon series back in the day; I waited every week for it, though I can't recall a single episode other than one with a type of zombies, so I'm guessing it was up against some pretty good competition (I'm guessing a DC or Marvel cartoon). By the time the toys and reruns came out I was already, unfortunately, old enough to be too emberassed to buy 'kids' toys. But I at least got to turn my Tarzan Mego figure into a makeshift Blackstar for a littlewhile during its first airing. The vehicles are pretty cool too (with that hot air baloon one looking the best since its so original.I don't think I even knew about it. cool video. Thanks for going into so much detail.
I watched the cartoon and I remember the toys hanging in toystores but I never collected any of these as a kid. During lockdown I got lucky and found all 6 trobbits for a good price and was going to leave it at that. Now a year later I just need the vizir, white knight and Mara as far as figures go. I would like to own a warlock but the monsters, vehicles and castle are too expensive these days and I'm not THAT emotionally invested in this line. I would like to army build some lava locs though.
Yep This line is fun but past the figures the vehicle and playset are too expensive. I lucked into a castle which is not perfect but still happy to have it
Blackstar by Galoob was my favorite figure line. I had the first wave back in the 80s. Nowadays I have all the figures and all are complete. Your Mara is missing her blue hair which is what goes in the hole on her back. I also have the two versions of Warlock and the flying bull Triton. I do not have the Ice Palace, Spaceship, Trobbit Wind Machine, or Battle Wagon.
I think the yellow winged warlock has a different type of saddle then the all green version. I was planning on grabbing one but haven't pulled the trigger yet
@@tydiriumhanger1320 I had the Green Warlock and I don't remember there ever being a saddle only a green clip. I've seen a unopened version of him and the green clip was the only thing in the box.
As a kid I bought the bee and the red rock monster guys when He-man was sold out yet again. Try changing the flints (sold for use in lighters or they were back then) to make them spark again. Thanks for doing this show. I still have the figures but had no idea where they came from or what they were part of.
I loved the show so much as a kid. I wish they haddent changed his skin tone, soany of my freinds who were black would have loved it just as much if we knew he was suposed to be black. It would be so cool if someone were to get a new toy rights and probuce them in correct skin tone.
Paint Masterverse Hemans hair black. Make sure it's the effeminate 1st release, then ad a pretty necklace, ridiculous tiny cape, and cut a silly looking sword he can't hold out of styrene. Bang Blackstar lol.
Awesome collection there 👍🏼 over here a motu collector yet just bought Blackstar and Overlord. Question for the Blackstar figure with the sparks, mine has some little cracks in his chest. Is this common with the figure? Otherwise he's almost in mint condition
I think the Warlord toys were better built than MOTU and Blackstar back in the day. I didn't like the way Blackstars legs were done. The straight at the knees made him less playable than other figures of the time. Like Liono from Thundercats, his toy $ucked. Cartoon was okay. You know who deserved a good toy line Thundarr the barbarian. Thundarr had a better post apocalyptic world, better weapon, and better characters. Galtar deserved some good toys too. That's it I'm making a custom Thundarr!
First off.. can’t believe you have the castle!!! You should really Check out the cartoon. I did last year as I started collecting this line. It is superior to he man and the toys as you said are fun. Overlord is drawn gorgeous in the show. As stated below, recently acquired a Mara!! My other gems that I absolutely love is Warlock and a complete Klone! I passed on a Triton Bull ( for some reason) I’d love a Battle Wagon and Trobbit Wind Machine. The toys are so fun. Would love to see the show/ toys updated. Meuton looks like a MMPR toy and was confused at first. Think Vizir stands out to me as a great toy and would’ve love to see the green knight be made. Check the show out!!!!

Wow, what an impressive collection. This is the definitive Blackstar video on UA-cam.
I had a few of these as kids and never knew what they were until now!
Same
Ears really does fly away with those. The Trobbits are like the variation on the Smurfs. Blackstar lives with them, and keeps them alive.
Fantastic review.Blackstar was a big part of my childhood. Now I have a near complete collection. Missing only Meutons handcuffs, green Warlocks figure peg,the saddle from the green/yellow warlock and two stands from wind machine's ball.
I had a bunch of these.bargain bin at kaybee toys 1984.

DC Primal Age Castle would look good with black Star Castle and figures

Such great entertainment back then and so much fun

This seems to be a great time to get a Warlock for a lower price than the recent past. I am considering getting the saddle and other stuff
I have the Trobbit windmachine, it is a fantastic piece. It was a very good deal a few years ago. I will keep my eyes on warlock Thanks for the hint

I had a few of these. They were fun. One of the few lines that looked like the cartoon. I loved that green dragon
It is so great when the toys match the cartoon like they all should

When I was a kid I thought Blackstar was a spin-off or in some officially linked to masters of the universe. The animation and toys are so similar
Great collection but i am motu hard core collector a for the record the pose the motu is a fighting pose position

I ordered some flints and look forward to seeing if I can get it to work
I recommend the Zippo brand flints over Ronson. Ronson lasts longer but Zippo burns cleaner and produces more spark.
Great video love this toy line

Vizier is Overlord's Peter Lorre. he's a craven yes man who is one of those guys who is a weakling with delusions of being an evil henchmen...
Overlord's legs are completely different too
I wish they made a Motu Classic version or a motu origins type of blackstar action figures
That would have been cool to have Blackstar and Thundarr from classics
Paint Masterverse Hemans hair black. Make sure it's the effeminate 1st release, then ad a pretty necklace, ridiculous tiny cape, and cut a silly looking sword he can't hold out of styrene. Bang Blackstar lol.

THUNDARR RULES!
Awesome!
Good 1
Thanks
Yeah this is a cool line of figures and I agree that they were more proportional than He-Man which made them a little better.
I enjoyed this line because they look good and there are way less to track down than MOTU

True we need a good Thundarr line perfect for Neca!
I never had a chance to see this toyline back then because I never actually knew about it
It sure is fun to discover these hidden gems of 80s toy lines
pink demon come with Overlord flying bull mount
First off.. can’t believe you have the castle!!!
You should really

This is like a Mandela version alternate universe bozo master verse lol
Did you ever get the Tail? Lol
Not to bright are u
The smaller figures who cant move arms or legs look cheap. And them being a part of the series makes the whole series look kinda cheap.
John Blackstar series 2 with lazor light does not come with cape
