NYGHIL | COSMIC HORROR | OFFICIAL SHORT ANIMATION FILM
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 сер 2023
- „A faint whisper echoes through the abandoned corridors of a forgotten planet. An effigy of the bygone days of wealth and splendour before decay and failure.
Memories of infinite darkness, utterly out of the cosmos, yet parallel to the mundane spheres of the mortal. Lurking in the deep, a maze of time - a closed gate opened by the words of the unspoken abysmal evil.
Blazing through the vastness of the universe, an Eldritch Sentinel summons the power of existence.A bearer of light and dark is gathering the forces to complete an endless cycle of recreation and the rise of a new eon."
STORY:
NYGHIL is another part of the ZEPHID universe. Shown is the dark guardian NYGHIL, awakened and guided by a dark indescribable power. Ordered by a dark force to deliver a cosmic god, he begins his journey in the deepest ruins of the exoplanet XEBRETH.Stylistically and visually, the film is inspired by the stories of H.P. LOVCRAFT, as well as artists such as GIGER and BEKSINSKI
SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE:
The 3D scenes were created entirely in Blender with render engine Evee.Post processing and mastering as well as the visual effects were created in adobe Premiere. Some of the audio recordings were done by myself, for example the choir recordings and the voice recordings of Laura Fish. Many thanks to Laura Fish and Thomas Winkler for their great work and also to all you cosmic horror fans who are watching this short movie! You gave me so much inspiration for my projects!if you want to support me and my work, feel free to leave me a like and a subscription!
many thanks for watching!

As a huge fan of the concept of cosmic horror, I'm absolutely taken aback.
The technical aspect of this movie, by itself, is enough to make it exceptional - the visual and sound design are absolutely outstanding in quality, and, beyond that quality, are so very unique and perfectly tailored to the very specific tone and aesthetic of the movie's universe and theme.
But on top of that, the movie itself is so... well, at the risk of repeating myself and for lack of a better word, unique. Cosmic horror is a very tricky genre to convey, especially through video, because two of its pillars are, to me, the unknown and the incomprehensible - and how does one portray those without negating their nature? For this reason, the pieces of cosmic horror that I love the most tend to be the most abstract or vague.
But your movie, while arguably abstract and vague, still shows a *lot* by what I think to be the standards of cosmic horror - I would personally consider even "just" showing the "Bearer of Light and Dark" in such detail to be a lot, and is usually more than enough to ruin that unique feel that cosmic horror is meant to convey.
Except, here... It doesn't. I can't quite explain why yet, as all of this is still very fresh in my mind, but it feels like, while we do see and learn about several entities and places with very detailed visuals and even narration, every piece that is made somewhat tangible 1. is still intangible enough to remain "unknown", and 2. is shown in a way that leads us to conceptualize, or consider, or think about other pieces. I guess another way to express that last point would be that while we do get some pieces to the puzzle, every piece that we get lets us see more and more empty space where other pieces are missing.
I'm sorry if I'm not making much sense - like I said, it's all still very fresh in my mind, so quite hard to put into words. But your movie gave me such a unique feeling that I wanted to express my appreciation, and why it felt unique. I'm looking forward to see more of your work!
Oh Wow! First of all a big thank you for this detailed review!
And I think that you are somebody who is "in the know" and has already had some experiences and impressions in the field of Cosmic Horror, probably far more than I have.
And to come to the point, I can confirm that this is exactly my essential structure in film production - the unknown. Of course, this can also be seen as an excuse for not knowing what I am doing, but I am always aware of this and try to ignore external influences and genres. Besides, these films are like a second, unknown world for me, in which I also immerse myself during the process of making them. I have no direct script except for the lore of Thomas Winkler, which represents an own cosmic universe (I hope tthat we can show more content and information soon). And it is really nice to reach so many great people like you, who share the fascination for cosmic horror and appreciate it. It is also very interesting to see who finds it "scary" and who does not.
So once again a big thank you for taking the time, I really appreciate it. The next film is already in full production and I hope I can convince you just as much, if not maybe even more ;) Thank you!
Let me shorten your response.
FHAK YEAH !!!!!!!!
I love the movie, Event Horizon , Alien-2- 4- Predators - Dust shorts. This fits in perfectly with all of those !
Can’t wait to see the next one you put out Robin Zeeb !
@@geneticdisorder1900I freakin luvvv ur response. 😂YES, I think your description is perfect. Even though I’m lost , the visuals are what carrys it.
this is more "Lovecraftian" style not much "horror" honestly. Maybe "horrorpunk" idk...
For those who don't understand it: Something happened.
Yo bro. I got a theory. What if nothing happened AT ALL.
Can you imagine that?
@@visitante-pc5zc Wow, that would be something!
It happened in a place.
I KNEW IT!! SOMETHING HAPPENED AT A PLACE!!
There was a funny hat and a hot egg
They created an egg, the egg was moved, the egg was bathed, the egg was looked at upon. The egg began bathing in to dust the whole universe. Worst egg ever.
All that work crafting that egg just to have another entity slice it in half!? Even being an elder God is rough in the universe. Tough crowd. 🔥
Okay, this doesn't have enough views. The technical aspect alone is amazing.
many thanks my friend!
I second that!
Cara474746 bbug484. ❤
Because it takes too long to get to a point...the long drawn out scenes seem like 1 dragged out cut and honestly i lost interest after 2 minutes
@mikeevans4051 whatever, dude. You're just jelly of the mad skills on display.
Brilliant animation. The movements are very organic/realistic and the details are amazing. I'm really looking forward to the next part.
many thanks Mr Fish!
4 US human who evolved on earth the scenery is scary and ...you know. But Imagine diffrent civ or species who evolved in dark place and for them this scenery feels safe and like noon pinic haha. And the sun is their enemy because of the predators on their planet snd the horror for them is sunny day haha
THIS. This is what Eldritch Horror should be! Indescribable, but knowable, knowable, yet almost too vague to know why it frightens you.
Well done!
Wow, many THANKS!
Stfu ur comment is cringe AF
Yes! I love stories where it shows an inscrutable reality so far removed from ours, yet completely believable and probably happening somewhere in this Universe.
It truly alien.
I am blown away by the production quality and attention to details. Kudos to your hardwork man.
Thank you so much!
Nicely done. Enigmatic, familiar yet utterly alien with near palpable sense of dread. Well done.
Many thanks 🙌
with near palpable sense of dread. , wow, I like that.
Visually stunning. A slow walk through a dark and twisted realm filled with deep and troubling voices. Amazing work.
This is now the greatest example of cosmic horror I have seen. Upheaval was close, but this one visualized it without compromising the qualities of the unknowable.
WOW, many thanks @ethanku!
Agreed.
@@deliriumarts For sure. How did you make this? Hours of stacking and iterating details? I wonder how it is that you create this awesome animation, and teams of 100 people can't get a 10 second $5 million dollar scene correct?
Phenomenal. Stirs memories and imagination of things that once were, but could never be.
Wow. Truly amazing visuals! Very impressive. The mood and the animation were just staggering. Very well done.
And all that about someone decorating an Easter Egg!
many thanks my friend!
Beautiful. The sound is amazing, too.
This was really a journey packed into 10 minutes.
Pretty sure we just watched that guy with the cool hat and fiery face make a universe..
Born from the "cosmic egg" if you will..
With the help of some Azazoth-esque entity. The whole time i watched this arthur c clarke was in my head “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”
Just a theory... very very well done animation, loved every second of it, thank you for your work 🖤
such an great interpretation, thanks! and also for watching!
This man has understood the assignment PERFECTLY. Encapsulates "cosmic horror" so damn well. From the indiscernable to the unnerving, and all the weird shit inbetween, this is an amazing example of cosmic horror done right. Outstanding work!
WOW, many thanks for that kind words! This is giving me new energy for tmy next projects. Thanks for watching and your impressions!
Muy ,muy magistral trabajo una atmósfera que mantiene ,deja mucho a la imaginación y rompe lo común, gracias por compartirlo.
@@deliriumartsdont ever stop.
You are brilliant.
@@jasujokelainen5073 so many thanks! And i have only just startet 😈
One of the most underrated and underappreciated artists and filmmakers I've ever seen. Your channel deserves so much more love than you get. You will go far with work this good and I am rooting for you. ❤❤
First of all a big big thank you for your great feedback and support. That means a lot to me - by far more than a few clicks less or more! Also big thanks for your reaction video on my CONTACT short! Absolute honor! 🙏many Thanks Dude and also keep up your great work !
Loved it! Beautiful looking movie. Had me glued to the screen just waiting to see what the next scene was going to reveal. I also love how 'alien' in felt. Too many times in movies about aliens the writer, director brings too many human-like elements to tell the story, but the honest truth is we have absolutely no idea what another alien species is going to think like or move like or act like, so I feel you did a very good job of making it feel truly alien without losing the story in the process. I hope that makes sense. Do another one!
Wow, many thanks my friend! And yes, absolutely right. I think it is far more interesting when not everything is told directly and to leave some space for own interpretations. And hey, Another part is already in progress, but unfortunately this movies are very time-consuming...so unfortunately it could still take a little while. Many thanks for your feedback!
I love cosmic horror, sci-fi horror, and Lovecraftian content, movies, etc. . And this Amazing vid, is So Very Good ! Wow ! Thank you , Amazing Work.
I don't know what this is about or how I knew the protagonist was going to tear his/her face off eventually...but these are remarkable visuals even better than many big studio work! I asked myself more than once, "This is ANIMATED???" Bravo!
Hey @kevinmkraft, so many thanks for that kind words! And yes, I actually rendered and animated it all by myself in Blender(on really old and crappy hardware). I never learned 3D visualisation, I just taught myself. So of course it's a special honour for me to hear that ;) The next part is already in progress, I hope this part will surpass Nyghil! Thanks for watching!
@@deliriumarts Wow! Well, you are a GIFTED animater without exaggeration. Honestly, I admire your abilities and look forward to what you do next. Goes to show that it isn't merely the equipment but the USER that makes all the difference. I might just share your video on Facebook to show you off to my followers. It's rare that I do that. Anyway, I'm no animater but I am a filmmaker. So, from one filmmaker to another, Well done!
@@kevinmkraft Oh WOW, thank you very much! And also it would be an honor to me. It's great that there are still independent filmmakers who can realise their potential the way they want to. Without guidelines. And as you said the USER that makes all the difference. Thank you very much, and you absolutely have a new follower ;)
@@deliriumarts The honor is mine!
I agree. There doesn't seem to be a story here. Just a beautiful display of a Lovecraft style ancient intelligence doing some sort of ritual, perhaps replicating or birthing? I don't know but I do love when people explore cosmic horror. Imagine what power an intelligent race would have that started exploring space before Earth was even formed.
terrifying!
dense atmosphere! and again, mate: the sound design 🤯
another masterpiece
thank you Alan, also for your nice way and great support!
All I can say is wow. Your skills are above and beyond the average mortal with a fantastic short. Period. I hope it’s a full feature someday.
so many thanks! and I can promise you that there will be more to come!
That would be nice or a few short movies like this but even if all we get is just this, I'm still very happy I got to see it.
The storyline is truly impressive! Hats off to the makers!
thanl you very much!
I keep rewinding back to look at 7:12 to 7:40, the deep, dark and distorted vocals are so mesmerising and chilling, I love it.
many thanks! I actually sang the vocals myself, but edited them a bit, I'm actually not the best singer ;) thanks for watching! Next part is also in progress!
@@deliriumarts Oh amazing.
When I listen it, it reminded me of traditional mongolian singers.
Wooooow This is amazing. This story and the visuals are so far removed from the human experience- truly captivating and awe-inspiring. I hope this becomes a series of Cthulu-esque stories. 🙏 Thanks for creating this!
Hey, thanks a lot for watching! The next part is actually already in progress and I hope it can captivate you just as much - if not a little more!
Oml this is absolutely stunning, that shot of the ship flying across the dead planet into the storm was just amazing. Great work on the cosmic horror stuff as well, it being without form till the last second then making it look like cuthulu tentacles was just chefs kiss
Very nice! I'm glad I could entertain you!
I echo the sentiments here. Very well done. You're very talented, Robin. Looking forward to GODH.
thank you!
this is what I'm talking about, this is the kind of stuff i personally want to see on the big screen. amazing talent here!
thank you so much!
No no don’t end there !! Want to see more………..amazing work, feeling a Giger vibe …thanks for the upload👍👍
hey @deankos3309, many thanks for your feedback! and I can promise you that there is still a lot to come ;)
This is perplexing, but a marvel to watch! Beautifully crafted and great sound editing, too.
thank you!
Daaaaamn!!!
This is like a meditation...very hypnotic!
Well done! This must have been an enormous undertaking!
Thank you my friend! Yeah, I can say that a few more grey hairs have already turned for this project...
@@deliriumarts It is the price one has to pay :)
Really, well done, sir!
Some BTS thoughts, or a director's commentary is always welcome *hint, hint* :)
If a studio hasn't already picked you up, they most certainly should. Bravo!
I've actually received a few great offers here and there, but I prefer to just do my own thing. Nevertheless, I am of course always open for cool projects that are fun and supportive , but honestly - I have to say that it is nice to be also seen without some connections and it's always important to me to be free in my work, without rules and regulations. So, many thanks for watching the movie!
@@deliriumarts I love your outlook on it all. Your art deserves to remain true to your vision. I respect that deeply.
A talent such as this should not go unnoticed nor be hindered in anyway. This is a short piece of a dark masterful saga that i look forward to seeing. Thank you.
Oh WOW, so many thanks! I hope I can continue working on the next part as soon as possible and give you more impressions of the ZEPHID universe!
Wow! Loved it. Hald my attention til the very end. Excellent! 😱😮❤️
many thanks!
Visuals, sounds, backdrops, special effects, monsters, concept....all amazing! You're going far robin zeeb!
many many thanks!
Amazing animation a brand new dimension on the work of H.P. Lovecraft , the production quality is superb
wow, many thanks!
This is so beautiful! The esthetics and the mood and the voice... everything. There's such desolation and isolation and I've never seen anything that captures the feeling that I get of "space" this well. Masterful!
Wow, many thanks for that! It's nice to hear that exactly this dark mood comes across in the movie, it's actually not always that easy. Thank you very much for watching!
Dude what have you done?!
Lovecraft would be so fuckin' proud of you!

A very attractive and cozy movie. I hope the dark guardian succeeds. She's very sweet.

Very impressive. Deeply original, beautiful and masterfully done. A new genre in itself.

Very well done Robin. Please do a full length feature.
Amazing animation; Great Voice over; intense ambience; interesting and creepy 💯.
You have so much talent! The music and sound was so well done. You could feel the dread, and the movements and animation look absolutely stunning!!! I can't imagine the amout of effort and passion you put into this masterpiece.
Wow, thanks a lot! And it's great that you appreciate my work so much! Actually, I'm currently working on my new film, which will be much more extensive and detailed. I'm curious to hear your opinion! Thanks for watching and for your awesome comment!"
I think the visual aspects are very good, I especially love that strange door and the creature out in space.
Just not completely sold on what is being conveyed.
I think there's a line between the terrifying unknown, and just abstract vagueness.
To me, a lot of cosmic horror's power comes from leading the viewer to try to understand that which cannot be understood or to confront that which is too far removed from comfort, but I didn't feel I had enough to work with to begin asking those questions.
Hey and thanks for your comment, and for sharing your perspective. And of course I can also understand that there is still a lack of context here, as there is unfortunately still too little information about this universe. But maybe I can convince you better with the next part. Thank you very much for your feedback!
I just keep thinking cow bells, great job.
Thank you SO MUCH this! it's incredible!!! So mysteriously beautiful and horrible, as the way cosmic horror should be! Also, really adored Laura's voice work and the MUSIC! So powerful!
Hey @dantespimp , many thanks for your kind words! nice that my film could carry you away so beautifully.
Well, this was awesome since the beginning till the very end. You have a talent and skills, Robin! Very well done.
So many thanks! 🙌
Thank you so much for sharing this.
With pleasure! Thanks for watching :)
One word "Awesome" I wish it was a full length feature movie.
Many Thanks! At full feature length this movie would probably have been released in 10 years ;) But the next part is already in preparation! Thanks for watching!
Well that was bloody amazing.
Loved it!!! That's all I'm going to say. Great job... Thanks for sharing with us.
many thanks, you're welcome!
Wow, there's a lot here. Great cinematography, awesome design and really nice to the audio design
Many thanks my friend 🔥
Very creative and very polished. I was glued to my screen and lost within it.
I'm glad you were captivated by the film! Many thanks
Full credit to the time , effort and imagination to undertake this project - I note some say where’s this and where’s that but I see this as a proof of concept and its a bloody good show Robin 👍🏻
Wow, so many thanks! And yes, I would say that this has already become a real life's work for me. I think I've finally found my passion!
Not without it's flaws but amazing considering it is done by a single person. Strong "Begotten" vibe.
many thanks!
Damn! Thank you! I have been a fan of Cosmic Horror for over 50 years. What you have is an excellent beginning. Dont feel that you must know ever small detail. Is a dream know as you walk into and through it? How is madness 'known'? Follow you gut, follow your dreams and nightmares. Giger and Lovecraft are smiling.
Wow, I have to thank you! very nicely interpreted!
So the Xebreth mining colony was set up by British Steel? Nyghil looked happy in his work , anyway....
Wow, these new video game trailers just keep getting better! j/k. ;-p Even though I might struggle if you asked me to explain what exactly it was that I just watched, I know one thing for certain, it was an audio/visual treat! Thanks for all the incredible hard work you devoted to creating works of art like this film, and thanks again for sharing it with us all on UA-cam. Bravo!
I have to thank you :)
The Eldritch gods freak me out. This was really good, loved it!
Definitely the non-drowsy variety of Nyghil!
Oh yes, the film also cost me some sleepless nights....
I'm enthralled by this! Setting, atmosphere, sounds, music, imagery are all top notch! A faithful homage to Ancient cosmic horror, well done, and more, please!
so many thanks! more will come soon!
most successful successor of cosmic horror i've ever seen , just magnificent , i can't find any better words
so many thanks my friend!
This is hauntingly beautiful. I was all in. Wish there was more but this amount a detail and imagery is nothing less than pure art.
Many thanks! New movie is already in the starting blocks, just a little more patience :) Many thanks for watching!
Superb. Magnificent!
thank you!
Completely amazed.
Far beyond my imagination.
This is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.
Wow, thanks!
WOW! Just WOW, I need the full length movie to this and why TF isn't EVERYONE talking about this?!?! Phenomenal 👏
Thanks you so much! I hope to present another part soon.... Unfortunately, my films are always very elaborate and therefore always take some time. But I try to do my best! Many thanks for watching!
@@deliriumarts I am stoked to hear that, I will be watching out for it 😉 keep doing what you did here and you'll dominate this genre soon ✌️ ❤️😊
Incredible stuff! I was so hooked right from the start
many thanks!
Once you start watching you have to watch until the end but I didn't want it to end.
I just watched this after "Upheaval", and man, i gotta say, you might wind up becoming my new favorite artist. Really its the visuals for me, like you're pulling images out of my mind, fucking love it, the atmosphere, the color schemes, the sounds, just the general vibe overall. Both of these are going into my shroom playlist.
Very nice to hear! Of course I'm happy when the mood from my movies has such an effect, many people see it quite differently, but also for me it's a real trip every time I create these films. The next part is already in the process and I hope I can top it again! Thanks for the comment and take care!
Top 🙏🏻👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻
Excellent....a new beginning.very nice.
This was entrancing and phenomenal! It felt like watching something forbidden, not meant for human eyes. 10/10
Wow, thank you!
This was a great production. Very Lovecraftian. I wouldn’t mind seeing more.
From a technical point of view, extremely well done, the visuals and animation and choice of camera angles are all fantastic.
It reminds me of Scorn, as several others have said.
However I must also say that like scorn, theres no sense of importance or meaning, theres nothing for me to invest in, I dont have any reason to care or be afraid of this dude with horns taking his egg for a drive to cosmic omelet machine.
Would still watch more.
Take a look at a movie called Mad God, very different style, but it establishes a narrative without any dialog very quickly that draws you in.
Hey @phantomewzick, first of all, thank you for your comment! Of course I absolutely agree with you on some points. But perhaps the work should be seen more as an abstract work, where the images are the main core of the story. Of course, I don't want to talk myself out of it. Mad God is, of course, well known to me. Legendary scenery and created by hand in 30 years of stopmotion experience. Legendary! Thank you for your opinion!
Yeah...except Lovecraft's main theme is the universe doesn't "care" about us... 🙄
Okay, that was amazing. I'd love to see more stuff from this universe.
many thanks! Next part is already in progress!
Robin, this is an intoxicating work of art, your technical skill as an artist and your mind as a creator and visionary is deserving of far greater audience reach, this entire piece would make an incredible art study. thank you for your work
Wow, thank you so much! I can actually say that I never studied art, sound design or 3D animation. Maybe I'm a bit of an autodidact, but I think with enough dedication you can learn everything yourself on free platforms these days. Ok, I admit, maybe I'm a bit fanatical in that respect ;)
But I would actually find it really difficult to document my work, or create a study from it...I'm probably a bit too chaotic and intuitive for that...
hey, many thanks for watching and for your comment! That's the most valuable feedback for me!
@@deliriumartsa pleasure i watched it 3 times just to appreciate every part of it and for inspiration for my own, o and ps, if you ever do consider creating a masterclass for people potentially who have a similar mindset and want help with putting it together, do please ping me i'd be glad to assist in helping you map it into a structure, otherwise i will definitely be keeping an eye out on you and your work
Thank you very much, I really appreciate that! In fact, we are currently setting up our own small platform in the form of art, texts and mental ideas, on which we would of course like to open up own interpretations of the ZEPHID universe in a completely open manner. Entirely in the style and mind game of H.P. Lovecraft and open to your own interpretations. Unfortunately, everything is still under construction, as we are only a small team at the moment and everything still needs some time. But of course we are always open for support from creative people! I hope there will be more info soon after everything is a little more structured.

*'His name is Nighil. He likes silly hats and easter eggs.'* Oooh, How Terrifying!
Cool video felt less cosmic horror than advertised. The narrator explaining things took a lot of the unexplained out of the situation. Cosmic Horror thrives on the unknown. Having a humanoid type character in the video allows us as Humans something familiar to grasp onto. Felt like a cool video into unknown possibilities, but not unknown horror.
Wow the atmosphere is amazing!
Gotta say, I agree with the other comments that the film is great and really nails the cosmic horror vibe, but the idea of an eldritch god named 'Nigil' is truly delightful. :D
very cool :). The sounds are impressive, the visuals absolutely awesome.
