    I dealt with self adjusting pressure plate for the 1st time this past weekend.... After watching a few videos and with limited tools, i eventually used only the park bench lol... Yes park bench in my yard that had thick wooden seat.... Placed the pressure plate on top with 3 x same size small sockets evenly placed under the outer edge of the cover of the plate.... Centered it in the gap between the seats, long thickish bolt from underneath pressing against the bottom of the seat, old bearing , washer on top with nut and turned the nut with my wrench..... Once i found the sweet spot moved the pin anticlockwise, held it in the reset position opposite the marked colored dots on the cover while releasing pressure... Job done 😊 ...... No need for the flywheel and clutch plate to be present

      Nice idea haha. No spare park benches in my yard but whatever works!

    Hello, thank you very much for the info about the coupling, doweling it to the table is unconventional but so good and simple, great.

      @@605BOLT A friend sent me his 3.0L 2000 ranger. the last guy installed the new clutch and he can't get the new one to release the disc. I'm going to reset the pressure plate tonight and retest. I'd almost bet this is the issue because the adjusting springs are pretty far open.

    That’s very clear explanation of your work. Excellent! Could you advise what could damage the concentric slave cylinder inside the box? I’ve had two new LUK damaged in around 4k miles. All kit fitted was new including the flywheel. Really worried could happen again if I use a different brand now. Thank you!!!

      @@ninrm6355 I sold the car a while back so my memory is fuzzy but I think some people really struggle with getting the slave cylinder to seal and not leak. There is an o ring or something. I don't even remember doing it to be honest.

    Just pulled my 02 focus svt engine out a few weeks ago nothing wrong with it but it had a bad oil leak so ran through it with new gasket’s and seals and about to put it back in and my engine has a pilot bearing 🤔 might want to check on that again!

      No it should be ready to install. You can visually compare those springs to confirm but they should be fully compressed or very near to it.

    • @605BOLT
      @605BOLT  Рік тому

      @@user-uk5jv8yz1x no not necessarily. If the springs are completely extended then it will not have any more reach and it will start to slip but the way I see it, a clutch isn't worn out until it slips.

    Oh man I know the feeling all too well, when you have to take a bunch of stuff back apart to install one little thing that was forgotten.
    Hey it could have been worse. You could have had the engine and transmission bolted into the car and been connecting the wiring when you realized the sensor wasn't in place. That would be a big oof.🤷

    • @605BOLT
      @605BOLT  2 роки тому +1

      It's so true. Could have definitely been worse. I don't know what I would have done if the engine was installed. Thrown something for sure haha.

  • @jasoncooke7439
    @jasoncooke7439 Рік тому +1

    You have to use a clutch installation tool to install these. You can't just put them on or they will last approximately 3 months

    • @605BOLT
      @605BOLT  Рік тому +5

      You don't need any tools. You can reset them as I've shown in this video. I'm sorry you are misinformed.

    • @605BOLT
      @605BOLT  Рік тому +1

      Sure. This was a stock rebuild so I didn't want to do that but I'm sure for a more performance oriented project that would be best. Sadly I don't know what part number that would be either.

    Transmissions and clutches make me nervous 😥😥

    • @605BOLT
      @605BOLT  Рік тому +1

      Ya that's fair. But the nice thing about these SVT focus cars is the transmissions are plentiful. Too many people pop their engines by timing belt failure or thermostat housing and therefore most get scrapped with good transmissions.
