Holy hell the Orioles disrespect is crazy... 3rd or 4th in the division?? I think people forget how injured they were the second half of last season. Fully healthy i think they have a pretty strong argument for best lineup 1-9 top to bottom in the AL
Jays front office don't have a plan. They need to be replaced full stop. Most Jays fans don't want this current front office deciding the future of this club and dealing with Bo and Vlad because they'll get fleeced in a trade and are incapable of signing them. They've had 10 years to build a team and times up
Jays are becoming a joke of a franchise, they all need to go. MGMT want to act like they are a few pieces away from contending which is ridiculous, the team is gutted and depleted, its an embarrassment.
@@beerus101 I agree they are an absolute embarrassment especially considering their payroll but if they get two good hitters and a legit closer they should have a playoff team. The off season isn't over but it's hard to stay positive with their track record
Atkins and Shapiro have done a horrible job drafting and developing. Not a good look when they said it would be there main focus when first hired. One thing they have done a great job with is alienating the fan base.
I think the writing is on the wall, Baltimore orioles in Maryland drafted Jackson Holliday, the other Maryland team has number 1 pick the Washington nationals… If they pick Ethan Holliday, Matt isn’t gonna have to travel far to see his boys play in the majors lol
As an O’s fan I don’t think you guys are far off, but I think it’s a bit overblown. Lineup is still probably the deepest in the AL East, particularly if guys like Holliday and Mayo take a step forward. With Bautista coming back and guys like Gregory Soto and Dominguez returning, they have a chance to return to one of the best bullpens in baseball. If they do manage to land Burnes or a big arm in a trade, they are right back to being the favorite in that division. Red Sox have a bright future but that lineup is still not great and it’s very lefty heavy - their competitiveness this year is gonna ride on the ability of the young guys to come up and make an immediate impact. Yankees have maybe the worst lineup in the division at present. The rest of the offseason will have huge implication in terms of who is viewed as the favorites in the East, but I don’t think the O’s are in as tough a spot as you guys made it sound.
I'm an Os fan as well, and I think they are spot on with their comments. The team absolutely needs to do more, although idk why people are "expecting" it at this point. Os fans should be far more uncomfortable with the team than they are. Elias is too timid and seems like he thinks he can just outsmart everyone. The farm isn't as deep as it used to be, and we need more of a proven, veteran presence. We've ridden the talent of young guys coming up and performing for 3 years now, and where has it gotten us? It's nice to make the playoffs, but we haven't won a single postseason game. Soto and Dominguez are not reliable in any way and barely difference makers even when they are playing well. The front office traded two of our best prospects for one year of Burnes and just let him walk. We need an ace and they haven't gotten one, but even if they do, will it just be another one year rental? We can't just saying to "trust Elias" and that we'll be fine. The rest of the division is bringing in big name, top end, talent and we are losing it. We will become the blue jays if they keep going this way. I was desperately hoping with the new ownership we'd be in on the top of the line free agents but I guess it's just going to be more of the same.
Agreed, they are very much so overlooking the Orioles and I think a large part of it is people not realizing how injured they were the second half of last season. Like I think they pretty clearly have the best lineup top to bottom in the AL when healthy and 2023 and 2024 1st half would certainly back that up. I think people only looking at the 2 month period when we weren't hitting well and not realizing that Westburg, Mountcastle, Kjerstad, Urias, Mateo all being out at the same time and having to start Livan Soto and Emmanuel Rivera every night might make a difference lol.
The Giants signed Chapman at the end of the yr before letting him hit free agency, by far Chapman would’ve been the biggest free agent from the Giants.
I think clearly this is a retooling year for the Astros. They have so many bad contracts hogging a ton of money for a owner who does not want to go over tax threshholds. 2025 is a wash but i actually think they are in a good position for 2026. Gonna have a lot of money to spend and some of their top prospects ready to call up
I didn’t think the Astros had much of a farm system. Jacob Melton, they’ve added Cam Smith, and…? Do they have some under-the-radar international signee pitchers or something? (Genuine question; they’ve done that before, with guys like Framber.)
Conspiracy: Baltimore and DC are only 38 miles apart. Jackson drafted by Baltimore, Ethan drafted by Washington 🤔 Seems like the Holliday family could have had some pull.
Trevor thinking that the MLB draft should and can be a Big Deal is pretty funny, esp. from somebody who knows better. High NBA draft pick? Congrats, you’re starting in the NBA next year. High NFL draft pick? Congrats, you’re at a minimum playing in the NFL next year. High MLB draft pick? Congrats, you’re going to disappear for 3 years and have a better than average but by no means certain shot at ever playing an inning of big league ball.
Blue jays have no clue what there doing, as a jays fan it’s embarrassing watching this front office make moves for defence every year and it not working, they have had 10 years at this time to move on
Phils need to do something besides offer bohm in exchange for the moon - we need pitching in the bullpen, we need a left fielder and maybe a 3rd baseman if we’re insistent on dropping bohm. I’d be all in on vladdy if he becomes available
Roki Sasaki's choice of team: Padres have the money, Yu Darvish is there as his mentor, Cubs could lure Sasaki because of his good friend Imanaga. The Dodger's japanese sponsorship money is massive but is already spread out between Shohei and Yamamoto. If Sasaki cares about money, he will consider what that means for his share of it. These three teams are my guesses but if Sasaki wants to be on a small market team, the Angels are a good destination because his fellow countryman Yusei Kikuchi is already there. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up.
Red sox are better than the Orioles? Orioles and Rays are tied? You guys are supposed to know baseball? This is what happens when people overvalue winning the offseason.
With starters & bullpen getting healthy for the O’s plus new guys taking steps I could easily see the O’s being better in 25 than 24. That being said I could definitely see them getting worse too. The Sox pitch was horrendous last year and they added a stud in crochet. To think they’ll leapfrog y’all isn’t crazy
@@bigpictureguys8415 Bautista is coming back, but I'm not holding out much hope for any starters. Even if Bradish doesnt have any setbacks, he wont pitch until the second half. And even if he does, who knows how good he will be? They're losing Burnes and like you said the Sox brought in Crochet. I think the Os are clearly taking a step back and I would expect the Sox to leapfrog us at this point. I hope Elias isn't done and brings in a real ace to replace Burnes, but I'm not holding my breath.
Giants seem to believe that Adames is step one of a front office plan to redefine how they create a baseball team. Farhan and his 6 year philosophy is OUT out. Us fans won’t believe it until we see it, but Posey knows what fans what. And he knows how to win - at everything. We’re gonna see!
I’m not going to defend Farhan Zaidi, as it seems he was too cautious (also, that fluke 2021 season seemed to mess things up). But Buster Posey is the least qualified POBO/GM hire I can remember. Other ex-players like Chris Young and Craig Breslow held other front office/MLB roles before being hired for their current positions. I’m not a Giants fan, but I heard someone whose views I respect say he felt like the team’s plan was to get dumber, but we shall see. Also, since Posey is part of the Giants’ ownership group, what happens if he turns out to be terrible at the job? Could they really fire him? Also, it’s interesting that the Dodgers immediately hired Farhan once SF let him go. (Unrelated and possibly irrelevant side note: I totally understand why Giants fans might feel optimistic about the hiring of a franchise legend like Posey. But as for non-Giants fans, it’s funny that the same people who scream about “DEI” and “wokeness” at every opportunity seemingly have no reservations when the person being hired looks like Buster Posey. 🤔)
I find Trev inconsistent when it comes to prospect/draft talk. In one breath, he'll say prospects are nothing because they're all unproven until they have big league time so trade them all for proven talent but in another breath he'll say the drafts are very important and he'll call out the 1 of 1s like Harper and Strasburg as impactful picks that actually matter. I mean, either prospects and development matter, therefore the draft definitely matters, or it's all a crapshoot regardless, so they mean nothing but to be used as trade fodder.
The Angels might be contenders to win AL East now xD All others 4 teams did nothing except losing good players. The A's did something but, it's the A's.
No way Cease is getting traded unless Padres are just giving up this season. They have way too much money on the books to not be competitive. And what the Padres need is pitching.
Ill also say one last thing, the Astros basically played without Kyle Tucker last year and still made the playoffs. Most of Tucker's healthy time was at the beginning of the season when the Astros were shitting the bed hard. I fully expect the Astros to be middle of the pack in 2025 however, but we could be surprised again with them pulling off another run of having the near the best record in Baseball for 2/3rds of the season.
Long time Jays fan here. Atkins overvalues defence and undervalues pop. It’s that simple. Obviously, there’s still time, but I doubt they will “overpay” for Teoscar, Santander, or Alonso (Guerrero to 3rd). They will not win bidding wars for power hitters. They might get a power hitter via trade, but who is still available on the trade market? They probably could have locked Vladdy up for 12 years if they offered 300ish two years ago. Now, it will be an “overpay” at 500 for 12. If he repeats his last season, he’ll get something like 550-600, as the #1 hitting free agent available. Horwitz was surplus on the Jays, given that he’s a first baseman. But he has pop. Giménez is an artist, true, and will be fun to watch on the field. Biggio was fun to watch on the field, too. But at the plate? I hope Giménez doesn’t have a better eye than the umps, like Biggio.

OF has been a struggle for the last few years, so they’re due. Astros have the #1 fly under the radar farm system
They're REALLY high on OF Jacob Melton... so, we'll see...
There were 3 AL Central teams because all those teams got to beat up on the White Sox lol.
Mets were definitely the biggest losers. Yanks dodged a Soto bullet
Did they? As crucial as Judge was for the regular season, Soto was just as crucial for their post-season success.
Yup, Mets are so much worse with Soto. Who would even want him?!
😂😂😂
Yeah the guy whose home run sent the team to their first World Series in 15 years is someone you definitely want to avoid resigning. Delusional take.

do you guys think Trevor Bauer should be back in the MLB?
He should definitely be back but he is kind of annoying so I doubt it.
If Vladdy becomes available, then Cashman/Steinbrenner needs to pull a Cohen literally sell the farms for him. Dude is phenomenal and even as a Yankee fan last season when it was around June and his season was still being called bad I was disgusted. Dude is a wiz in the box and a okay defensive 1B. Granted the latter, when he has a 2021 type year, will get him ate alive by NY media
Does the host speak this way in real life or is it just affect for the podcast? It's so annoying. If it's affect for the podcast I get it.
Gimenez is a good player but the jays need hitting. Atkins is a dummy who thinks he's a smarty
Completely agree on the orioles and blue jays takes. Very disappointed by both those teams over the last year or so
