One of my all time favorite players to work with when I was head of PR for the Islanders. All stories here are true and lots more out there. Not said is that Mick is one of Isles' fans all time favorite players and when Isles signed him WHL fans came out of the woodwork looking for schedule info and satellite coordinates. Was also one of first to step up and help with charitable activities. Keep rolling, Mick.
Great job bringing Nick Vukota on the show boys. These are the guys you need to bring on the show with the great stories because this generation does not know how hockey was played in the 80’s. I grew up watching and playing in that generation and living in Alberta only knew he was a enforcer for the Islanders and at western boy. Keep up the good work Boys and keep brining these enforcers on the show. Would love to see if Dave Brown would be available in the near future.👍🏻
I’m a jets fan living in Winnipeg and G and Biz going on about $28 tickets is ridiculous. Tickets have just very recently dropped to around $65 but most games are still $80+ On another note I know a lot of people in Winnipeg are barely getting by and struggling to pay their rent. And the people that aren’t struggling are too sheltered to even step foot in downtown Winnipeg to go to the game. I work in downtown Winnipeg and I understand it can feel sketchy sometimes but the most safe I’ve felt downtown is during big events like Jets games.
Economy in Canada is crap everywhere. Rent, groceries, utilities, car payments. At $80 a game + food and drink, transportation that's ~$150. Cant see that more than once a month on a 65K salary
I think they also failed to add that they probably saw the tickets in USD currency... In North America, we're all going through shit with inflation, but people forget, the Canadian dollar is the equivalent to glorified Monopoly money 🤑🤦♂️🙈
@@jehuspeen for sure, and you're even being conservative. I'd argue the cost on a night out at a game, even in somewhere like Winnipeg, is still easily $200+, when you factor in travel/parking, food, tickets, "fun" before or after the game, in whatever form you partake in. It's just a luxury most can't routinely afford anymore. This is a North American issue all over, but by extension the World too. The squeeze is real, even for those making what used to be "considered decent money/salary"
This fucken interview is why we watch this show superstars are great the best rookies and wayno are amazing but spitting chiclets was made to have interviews like this well done boys and mick
Remember watching Vukota play for the Grizzlies and winning the Turner Cup (IHL). He was there to enforce but he wasn't a complete goon, he'd go out there and contribute, big hits, and of course throw down. He a had signature way of fighting, keeping his right hand up by his eye, then he'd latch on and it was over for the other guy. To this day we still talk about Mick and see people rocking his #12. What a great interview.
I flew to Montreal to get his jersey signed between him playing the first time and then resigning the next year. Gord Dineen looked at my pictures from the game (got my jersey signed, fell down the stairs in Montreal AT THE GAME, waited in the parking lot for Mick to come out…1-2 AM and I had to be at the airport at 6:30 am, it was signed and I felt like an idiot when I said thank you as he was leaving the parking lot). When the season ticket holder event happened and I brought more of the pictures to get signed Gord remembered my pictures (a coworker brought her kid and thought I lied about knowing the guys a bit). Mark Lawrence was called up/sent back for that same game, Islanders/Montreal, so I had pictures for him to sign too (gave him a few pictures the Utah game after that).
I met Mick a few times. I was a kid playing peewee hockey in Rutland when Mick played for Kelowna. One of my teammates was Tony Horacek's billet family who was a teammate of Mick. Those Kelowna games were fun. Always seemed to get knocked out of the playoffs by Cliff Ronning and New Westminster. I remember one game in Kelowna Mick got in a fight, threw a couple punches, then did a scoop body slam lol
Holy shit!! As a guy who grew up in S’toon same era as Mick…..the Blades…watching Kocur, Wendel, Tony Twist, Dave Brown, etc, it was the best flashback to listen to these stories. Mick left a big steamer on Milbury’s chest exposing him as a POS….”just ask Gretz, Biz”…classic! Visualizing the yard sale of a hotel room in the parks lot is funny af! The stories were all time! Mick is in Chiclets HOF!
Based on the timeframe of that game Mick Vukota played in the FHL on Martha's Vineyard, he tussled with 2023 Willie O'Ree Award recipient Jason McCrimmon who was playing for the Danbury Whalers at the time.
All due respect to many awesome interviews spittin chicklets this one is my favorite Mick Fuckin Vukota if ya need him!! Awesome job by whit biss and RA too fuckin rights boys
I have heard Ian Bagg promote your guys podcast Multiple times. He was on Your Moms House several years ago and he told Tom to give you guys a listen. You should have him on the podcast.
Been following the Islanders since I seen them win the 4 cups as a kid. Hearing that Vukota and Pilan pulled the trigger on a mission to get Hunter even if AL killed it makes me feel better after never getting any kind of retribution after all these years. Dang.
I hope Mick Vukota sees this comment or one of his family members. He didn’t really believe Biz when he said this episode with him was one of the best. But it is one of the best interviews of chiclets!!! ❤️👌. Whatta story teller Micky is and great person!
Man I loved mick, and that isles team. Been through alot of bad with this team as a fan for 30 years but I will say we had great guys on those 90s teams teams ! Just mismanaged and coached once Arbour was done unfortunately. Milbury should burn in hell lol
No way!! I was just thinking about when you guys would interview mick vukota, I always like him as an enforcer and was super happy when my team Montreal acquired him in 98 for some toughness
Re: Attendance It is just too expensive to go to games, especially in Canada. Never mind the fact ppl are just straight up hurting due to inflation. In 2023 an equivalent of 20% of the population uses the Food Banks.
I live in Winnipeg and the cheapest seats are usually 100ish a game, don’t know where you guys are getting the 28 bucks, if they were that much I would for sure go more
Rent costs have gone up 23% since last year ie. 1250$ a month for a 1 bedroom apartment. The average person is spending 450$ a month to eat. Parking can cost anywhere from 2-3 dollars an hour downtown. You're looking at anywhere from 30-50$ to eat to support downtown businesses, not to mention what you pay at the arena. And all of this is if you are going by yourself
Biz out there trying to CATCH elk is hilarious! 😂 Keep it up, you'll figure it out. Find a good mentor to show ya the ropes, gun safety, shot placement, animal habits etc.
Ian Bagg is from my hometown Terrace in northern BC. I have seen him plug Spittin Chicleys when he is a guest on bug podcasts like your moms house. He would be a legendary guest
nice to see that Whit can have the awareness to understand what its like to be an average joe in a terrible economy and ridiculous inflation and not just speaking from a professional athletes point of view. 👏
Keep the old enforcer interviews coming boys!!
Behnnnnn…..
Hands down best interview I’ve heard on the pod. Mick is an absolute beauty.
When people say that this interview is one of the best, rarely is it true. This one certainly was. Top 3 for sure.
As a life long Isles fan
(51yrs) this was an unbelievable interview.
Thanks for the great memories Mick......LGI!!!!!!
This was one of the best interviews in Chiclets history

Loved the Mick Vukota interview. Man the old days were awesome, it was the wild west back then lmao!

Mick not Nick
Mick the Quick
Was mostly a wrestler but had a few good bouts
As a 41 year old die-hard Isles fan growing up watching Mick and those late 80s, early 90s teams, I absolutely loved this pod.
One of the best interviews on the POD ever . Mick is a gem of a guest 👍
The Vukota interview was amazing. I was completely dialed in listening to his legendary stories.
Best interview of all time please bring him back on such great stories
Super cool that Mick also listens the pod. Didn't seem nervous at all. All his stories were nailed!
in keeping with old school interviews, you guys absolutely need to bring Mickey Redmond onto the podcast. That guy has stories for days
Zach Kassian
Yes guy! Mick Vukota was an absolute beauty of an interview. Good old Sasky boys always bring the heat with the stories!
Great Episode truly one of the best ones yet. Love hearing the older stories the most.

1/5 of Canadians are using Food Banks regularly. No wonder we’re not dishing out $80+ per head to go buy a $20 beer…

What a great guy
Watched this interview 3 times...love this guy.
This dude needs to make his own podcast asap. Great story teller and voice
Definitely a top five Chiclets interview. Great storyteller.
My God! Vukota is a legend. His Dad telling him ‘you need to drink less’ upon getting called up is underrated hysterical. LGI!
Mick Vukota, what a beauty. Start a podcast or something brother. This is gold.

@@carsonmcculloch8233it was years ago bud I ain’t digging through it but I know for a fact it happened.
Mick Vukota was must watch tv. That patented takedown move he did.

Best Interview! Loved his honesty.
Man what a fucking legend one of the best interviews ever
love watching the pod on YT compared to listening to it on apple podcasts, love seeing the reactions and expressions from the boys
Holy shit boys, Game notes announcement, Frozen Frenzy, and a new Chiclets Pod? What did we do to deserve this? Let’s f*cking go!
My favourite interview in a long time.

Loved Mick's interview. What a guy.
André Roy and Mick Vukota. They have to be the top 2 storytellers to ever come on this show.
This guy was an awesome interview!
Great interview. Mick is a great story teller
Biz calling everyone Uncle has me in tears 😂
Loved the interview, Mick was a great guest..funny stories.
That Bawdy Ammah ad from RA might be the best thing on the internet.
What a great interview!
This guy! Great interview!

Great interview, lmao. One of your best. Great pick boys.
Loved the story about Gordie Lane! Crazy

Mick starts at the 1:57:00 mark
The interviews with the older guys r so much better then any with the newer guys
We all have a favourite player, Gordon is mine. Top man, very happy he joined us. I hope he’s here for many years.
this interview had me laughing from start to finish. Outstanding!

Old time hockey stories always great
Hilarious interview!! Thanks guys!!
As a jets fan it ain’t 20 bucks I brought 3 buddies too a game for the home opener and for some middle of the pack seats it was a combined 900 bucks
That’s absurd man. Plus I’ll bet they robbed you at parking and charged you 17 bucks for a soda
Nosebleeds are more than 20
Vancouver is facing the same issue. It costs less to go on vacation for a week than a Canucks game + night out.
@@Jeremy-yh8lv ya probably worse their with the bigger market and worse economy
For Ottawa I went to the Buffalo game for $34/ticket. Parking was the same price though. And pizza+pop was $17
Mick is a beauty. Such a storyteller!
Always knew the name but had never heard him interviewed until recently, Mick is hilarious.
Greatest duck segment lol 😂 can’t wait for todays episode
Love the old school guys this is so good 🔥

"any of those shots make you smell like a keg of beer"- haha gotta love Al Arbour
