The Globe Watch that Won the Oscars (for watches)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 лют 2022
- We go off the beaten path this week and look at a very distinct watch that took the Challenge prize at GPHG also known as the Swiss Watch Oscars.
This watch priced at less than $2000 is a fresh take on telling time, and should be available on their website in March at www.cigadesign.com/

Well done Max. I’d love to see one of these in person.
much about a watch with a presence to remind us how important it really is to preserve who we are and the place we call home, our time here is now and forever changing! This piece has a greater significance of value!
We need more blue in our planet......
Well said, it's the only one we have 👍
That’s awesome that you got your hands on this guy, very unique watch 👌🏼…I saw a vid of all the winners and I thought this piece was really far out considering it’s price point, would like to see a Moon version of this 😃!
Thanks Roberto! Yes a moon version would be sick 😁
I personally think its stunning and hoping to get the titanium one soon. Great vid by the way ;-)
I'm not sure if I would want one but it looks spectacular and it would be a real conversation starter if you wore it down the pub or out to dinner. Oh first comment too 🎆🎆
Yes I'd come talk to you Morgan if I saw you wearing one 😉
Crazy stuff! Not the watch for me as I can't wear something that crazy but super cool. I never even heard of CIGA before! Their skeletonized watches you showed actually jumped out at me as cool options that might actually be able to pull off.
This is an extraordinarily nice watch if you don't need to know what time it is.
Looks beautiful! Execution seems flawless, with the exception of the ghost date position on the crown.
Yeah it's pretty well done especially considering the price 👍
Awesome video Max. That watch is interesting to say the least lol
Thanks Kyle! Yes very funky 😁
The diversion across the Wide World of Watches is most welcome, Max. Not my kind of thing, and yes I have a BB58, but properly interesting and enjoyed the presentation.
Haha thanks Chris, I have a BB58 as well 😉
I love the concept and like the execution, it's both different and thought provoking at the same time as far as our only home is concerned. I certainly wouldn't mind taking a look at this watch. With an arguably 'unknown' movement this might worry me as far as a service and parts are concerned.
Yeah I never could get a straight answer on the movement, but probably wouldn't be too hard to service.
It's not our only home. I'm from another planet in a different galaxy. Been here for only 9 years
Definitely a winner. I agree it’s too bad the date couldn’t be included. I have a globe watch with hands that are the nine planets.
Thats good looking watch it's different to most.
Do let us know your impressions after the duration of your wear. I’m still deciding and think it will be too big and impractical for wear for my 6.5 inch wrist. Thanks!
WatchChris loves this watch!
Heavy Ikepod vibes
😂
Could you make a video of the gold one?
I have one, amazing !!!
From the shots of the caseback, it looks to be a Sellita SW200-based movement.
Nice ID, the finishing leaves something to be desired.
Very cool watch...looks like it wears like an old Mido commander!
Haha, I didn't think of that 🤔
Wow that is a cool watch. Would be nice if you could get it in the part of the world you live in.
Oh like if there were different versions of the globe? Yes that's a great idea 💡
+15 -30s per day. Just make sure you don't miss your flight while wearing this watch.
🤣
If this works for Greubel Forsey, why not for other, more affordable brands ?
Yes, similar style 😉
Funky looking watch
Indeed 😁
Interesting - surprised the Chinese didn’t offer it in gold as well.
Probably would've overshot the budget 😅
Practical? Nope. Cool? Yep. 😁
Most definitely my dude 😉
is it for sale?
It will go on sale in March on their site 👍
This Globe Watch is too similar in look to the Seiko Think the Earth WN-1 released in 2006.
good catch this is better looking though
Take the band off and you get a very nice but expensive paper weight.
Or a pocket watch 😂
Seems this watch was designed for the visually impaired too. 😏
Or the time indifferent 😂
To me, this looks like a Seiko Space Port knockoff, but that's my opinion.
wn-1?
I like the watch personally, however, my conscience rules over my desires and I cannot purchase from a country which endorses slavery and no, I do not have an IPhone.
