Hey everyone! Hope you're doing okay considering the current situation we're all in! We will continue to produce content as normally (every 2nd Tuesday!) as long as we can get hold of supplies without going too much out! Let us know if there's anything in particular you'd like to see, and give us a follow on instagram @thenerdforge to see what we do behind the scenes and stuff (will def post pic of us enjoying milk and cookies from the new glasses😂)! Thanks for all your support! ❤️
Hello, gr8 work with clay, but i think you can add lights at the base of the glass to look mystical (just a suggestion not to take it seriously😁)... Also get well soon...🙏
Your Fantasy Goblets look Beautiful, purple goblet - undead, nature goblet - druid, fancy goblet, stone goblet - earth. If I had enough supplies and use one of my mom's old wine glasses and turn them into goblets of chalice that would be an epic challenge for my creative skills. I still love your potion bottle's they both came out Beautiful , 1.Gaia's Tears potion 2. Mana potion If you had a purple (resin or epoxy) gem and turn it into a Sacred Witches Power Potion for Spells and Magic that would go excellent with the witches book. I love both the potion bottles, think of the first potion bottle a very ancient potion that only the sorcerers of life magic only prepare from a sacred landmark. Mana- pervasive supernatural or magical power - a concept of a life force, believed to be seated in the head, and associated with high social status and ritual power. A spiritually powerful, influential and courageous, yet humble. Sorry the brown leftover epoxy trash didn't work I'm sure it'll still be useful give it a new color and maybe turn it into a dragon scale or a earth gem attached to the front cover of an earth tome, or an earth potion that tells time and space like a sands of time from an hourglass. Here's my suggestion about the epoxy resin.. SAND IT. Not just the rough grade, but you have to go up in grit until your basically just buffering the thing. Make the scratches super thin, then finish it with a polishing paste. That's the best way to get clear epoxy. Just keep rising in grits until you get to like.. 3000 grit or 5000 grit. Then you put polishing paste, rub it in and get rid of the excess. Those lines and drippies from adding the epoxy on top? Just sand them to a very fine grit then polish them. Wet sanding helps too! Also, if you want to get rid of any bubbles, either heat or a pressure pot. You COULD use a vacuum chamber, but I've seen that mess with resin before. A pressure pot(about 30psi I believe) will make the bubbles super tiny. Or, you can use a heat gun/lighter to pop surface bubbles. I see those used for thinner projects though, not... epoxy blocks. You can still try the sandpaper thing. Thats your best chance at a clean finish. Check out dice makers or epoxy resin workers here on youtube, a lot of them use sandpaper. Some people commented micromesh, yeah that too! Just super fine grit, because the smaller the scratches the better Hopefully once the Virus is cured we can finally get the tome of water up and ready, keep up the incredible work NerdForge. :)
Nerdforge I know this might be basic, but considering that your resources are perhaps limited I thought it’s be interesting: I’d like to see you make a notebook from recycled materials! I have recently gotten into making recycled paper and used some of your book binding videos to figure out how to make a book, however, your books are so big and grand and there’s no way I could afford doing something like that; but I’m still super interested in book binding and like making little simple notebooks out of my recycled paper. I simply wonder how you would manage to do it and probably mostly how you would decorate it! Much love from Denmark - håber i hygger i karantæne 😝✌🏼
Just a tip for the next time you're doing this: Put some Fimo Liquid (it's exactly what is says, liquid polymer clay) on the glass where you want the black polymer clay to go, this way the Fimo will stick to the glass better and not come off as easily. However, thank you for this nice and wholesome video, made my evening 10000 times better! It's just so soothing to see you craft.
I wonder if there's a way to "rough up" the glass before doing that, so it will stick even better. ...Should the Fimo be applied and dried first, or should it be done as you're applying the clay?
@@falcychead8198 You apply the liquid Fimo first, then the regular polymer clay (without baking it in between). Just be careful with the amount of liquid Fimo you're using, if you use too much, the regular Fimo might not stick and slide off the glass instead.
Alas, the mysterious book of water eludes our heros. Trapped within their castle as a plague ravages the land. Will they ever be able to find the book?
@@MitzW. if you check video of making book of air, you will see that it is mostly blue with silver/grey elements. I notice that book behind them, but it looks way darker then in making video...
Re: fingerprints: you can use clay softener or rubbing alcohol to smooth the surface of the clay and get rid of any fingerprints or other little bumps and dents :)
Putting a sturdy paper like the paper that comes inside a box of cereal over the clay, and smoothing it with your fingers will help with lumps and dents and fingerprints.
If you ever retry this or do anything else where you have to stick polymer clay to different surfaces I would suggest using bake and bond or liquid clay. It’s basically polymer clay glue. You can also use it to help stick polymer clay pieces together, so it might keep those more delicate bits stuck on there. Love your content and I hope this helps
It is extremely acceptable to have milk and cookies in a wine glass while binge watching your favorite medieval movies. I totally just found your channel this week and finally reminded myself to subscribe after binge watching your videos. I have been watching them at random, but I love the chest you made for the short story. I went and watched it, then re-watched it after I figured out there were subtitles in English. You are bringing out the crafter in me, your videos are so inspirational.
Bravo, Nerdforge! Marvelous project. Another advantage of these goblets is that having A multitude of designs let’s party guests easily identify which glass is their own.
Hey if this interests you, try it! They’re obviously talented, but a lot of their success is also from practicing and experimenting. The first few things you make might not be the best, but the crappy art project is better than no art project in my opinion. As an added plus, the glasses they’re making don’t use as much specialized supplies or knowledge as some of their other projects. Hope y’all try it💙🎨
Amazing, love it! Advice from experienced clayer to anyone who would like to make these: use Liquid Fimo if you're working with glass. Just brush liquid Fimo over the glass, where you'd like your design to be (just like glue), and bake for 1 hour at 125 degrees Celsius, no matter which brand of clay you use. This way polymers bind much better.
*later in time when quarantine is finally lifted and they're hosting a celebratory dinner* "Let's toast! I'll get the good cups!" *Walks out with these, wondering why the guests are confused*
I love how all four of them turned out. So beautiful. In Hansi said he used to much paint on the purple one but I honestly love it, it almost matched Martina's hair which I thought was so cool. I love them all. Love the channel.
Love how she's so adorably saying milk and cookies after making the comment about not drinking wine and he's all like, we're so lame. Nah, y'all just have better taste in beverages xD. But these glasses are gorgeous and elegant
a funny thing is, I looked at these sort of goblets on sites that sell them sometimes and in the reviews, I often found the comment 'very good glasses but very fragile, these are better for decoration purposes than drinking' :P
I know this is a couple of months old, but still: I love those goblets! I'm not into fantasy, but I think that I might make a goblet with leaves and trails as a presentation piece for a birthday. One thing I have - being a miniaturist - is a pasta machine dedicated to polymer clay. It cost me a little below 10 Euros and has been serving me for longer than the Euro even exists. It's great to create thin layers of clay. Thanks!
Fingerprints are easily removed from polymer clay before baking with 91% rubbing alcohol and a fine paint brush. The alcohol breaks the surface of the clay down to create a smoother texture. Also, fine lines, clean can be created by overlaying plastic wrap and using the sculpting tool. Hope this helps with your next polymer project. Great vid by the way. =)
It's so nice to see Hansi (spelling?) on camera again. You both interact so nicely and naturally. This is a brilliant little DIY to pass the time with.
You guys are so adorable! This project looks like fun. If you dont want to use them to drink from and having to keep washing them, you could use them as candle holders. Maybe put a layer of sand in the bottom, and use the battery operated,.real look flame candles in them, I bet it would look beautiful.
Such a cool project and the results were fantastic! Kudos to you two for making the most of the situation and finding a fun project you could easily do without making a whole lot of mess. I think a lot of us maker folks are having to think on the fly about how to keep making with limited supplies and maybe limited access to the tools and spaces we'd normally use.
While watching this I was thinking that it might b fun to try making ‘Harry Potter’ style glasses. One design for each of the four houses to make a full set. I’m not good with clay but it sounds like something I’d really like to own so I might get some clay and paints and give this a try x
I'm spending my quarentine with my grandparents, they're really old and I can't do barely nothing except reading or they get really annoyed, but watching this video really entertained me. Thank you so much

OMG!! I've been meaning to do the same thing for years now. Bought the glass to alter second hand and have a whole drawer full of them. I just have way too many ideas so I keep making other things :D I LOVE THIS! I LOVE YOU GUYS!! LOVE LOVE LOVE! I love working with Polymer clay. what am i saying. I love everything that I can use in any type of craft. oh and... polymer clay you can use ontop of anything that you can put in the oven on the type of temp that it requires so perfect to make wands with :) pick a stick in the woods, clean it and build up some cool textures and beads and such, bake it and paint and a pretty wand is made.
Hope you guys feel better soon! Thanks for being responsible & considerate, and I'm glad you were in a position where you could stay home without too much hardship!
You can use liquid clay ( sparingly) but also , you have to make sure your clay is well conditioned and then it sticks and also bakes better , I just love those glasses what a great idea , I love this channel ❤️❤️❤️
Speaking of cheap tools, the two tools I find useful for sculpting tiny details into acrylic clay are the loop end of a hair pin and the pointy end of a small crochet hook.
Bake & bond helps to bond the polymer clay to surfaces. Uses this before you bake in the oven. That why there is no need for gluing. Use baby oil or clay soften to remove the finger prints before baking. You can uses a tiny bit of corn starch on your finger and rub lightly on the areas where there are prints but... corn starch could change the color of the colored clay you are using.
I enjoyed the video! If you embed a bit of wire in the clay before baking it should help it keep its shape for the weaker sections like the leaves. Probably wont prevent it peeling off completely, but might help add strenght so you don't end up with bits snapping off.
Oh no! Another craft to add to my list of things to do. I love the look of the wine glasses. I’ve decorated some with chainmaille before but never thought of decorating them this way. Home all day and I still don’t have enough time to do all these crafts.
I really liked that you both worked on a project together; not that you haven't before, but I liked seeing you both working side by side, trading ideas and inspiration while you made your goblets. Hope you get to feeling better soon! Enjoy your milk and cookies! 😁
Another tip, you can use a slightly wet paintbrush, dipped in rubbing alcohol to smooth surfaces and if you bake an imperfection in, you can sand polymer too.
I love listening to and watching your videos why i make stuff my self. It never looks half as good as your stuff but ; have to start somewhere. Thank you for a fun video, I hope you get better soon!
Also, to get rid of finger prints, before you bake the clay, take a brush with rubbing alcohol on it and gentle brush out any marks, bumps, prints etc that you do not was and make the surface as smooth as you want. Learned this from doll makers who want the skin to have a very smooth surface indeed.
I've never subscribed to a channel before. You're the first one I feel is truly worthy of notifications. (Not trying to sound snooty.) You are entertaining with out too much talk. Nerdy and not afraid of tiny mess ups. Thank you!
These are fun! Polymer clay is a great tool. You could use this technique to make some fun candle holders too, wouldn't have to worry about washing those too much.
I dont drink but i love goblets and fancy wine glasses, so i like to use them for differnt things outside drinking from them. One of my favorite things to do is put tealight candles in the glasses, it looks really pretty and fairy like.
If you have someone who does glass etching near you, Is they can show you how to use a specific acid that will allow your clay to adhere to your glass better. Also, Sculpey makes a liquid you can brush over your clay to rid your fingerprints. I believe your glasses turned out awesome!
Cool metallic tones are really easy if you take the main colour, and mix with silver. Similar to warm tones with something more golden or copper. The limit is what your imagination. I tend to make large batches of such things for future use.
Having you both making stuff in this video was great fun! I'm sad to hear you arent well but please take care. Everyone needs to put their health (and the health of their neighbours) before things like UA-cam. I know it's your job so hopefully you'll get through this safe and happy and able to continue as normal. Sending my best from Scotland.
Next time you work with glass get some sand paper. Use the sand paper to ruff up the areas you are trying to glue to. Silicone is very durable and sticks well to glass as well similar glue they use for aquariums. (Note: There are different types of silicone and each has ratings for temperature. so choose wisely) You could also use a wire to help with tiny details. Piano wire works well or spring steel.
You can use rubbing alcohol on a q-tip before baking to smooth out fingerprints and remove dust that gets stuck to polymer clay. I'm not very good at making stuff with polymer clay and this tip has saved so many of my projects 😂
Just when we think we have seen the peak of your skills, you blow past your limits. Congrats. My favorite goblet is Martina's first one, with the nature theme. I love the theme and the design so much. As for the situation with the quarantine, I wish you both the best and a speedy recovery. Much love from Greece.

What a fun project! They turned out really great, offering drinks will be classy as hell now ;) Feel better and stay safe!
I've never subscribed to a channel before. You're the first one I feel is truly worthy of notifications. (Not trying to sound snooty.) You are entertaining with out too much talk. Nerdy and not afraid of tiny mess ups. Thank you!
Enjoyed watching the two of you working on a project together. 👍👍
Hey guys, congratulation for all the things you do.. people like you make me believe there is still hope for humans.. hugs from Italy
This is definitely the cutest video y'all have done.
i love martinas first one sooooooooooo much!
this is such a cool idea. I had never thought of this.
These are fun! Polymer clay is a great tool. You could use this technique to make some fun candle holders too, wouldn't have to worry about washing those too much.
Martina's first one ist my favorite but they all look great ❤️
I wish I had that much skill
Great job! thanks for helping out by providing content in these tough times. Stay safe!
I believe your glasses turned out awesome!
this is super fun and the final product turned out so awesome
Love this! I have glasses and clay, and am going to be doing this today!
Brushing on some clay softener before baking will help remove fingerprints!
Love the glasses😍. They’re so pretty and amazing! You guys are awesome!
My favorite was Martina's leaf glass (the one the leaf almost fell off!) but all of the gobets were beautiful!
I am loving the two of you interacting ^_^ it’s so endearing
Wow! You are both so creative. Thank you for sharing your talent. ❤
nerdforge does all the cool stuff I want to be doing and i find these videos very inspiring
Cool metallic tones are really easy if you take the main colour, and mix with silver. Similar to warm tones with something more golden or copper.
The limit is what your imagination.
I tend to make large batches of such things for future use.
Kult prosjekt!
Having you both making stuff in this video was great fun! I'm sad to hear you arent well but please take care. Everyone needs to put their health (and the health of their neighbours) before things like UA-cam. I know it's your job so hopefully you'll get through this safe and happy and able to continue as normal. Sending my best from Scotland.
goblets worthy of royalty! so cool
Thanks for the tips at the end!!
So beautiful, love the vine goblet
I JUST REALIZED THIS IS THE FIRST VIDEO OF YOU I EVER WATCHED THANK YOU FOR THIS
: )
Next time you work with glass get some sand paper. Use the sand paper to ruff up the areas you are trying to glue to. Silicone is very durable and sticks well to glass as well similar glue they use for aquariums. (Note: There are different types of silicone and each has ratings for temperature. so choose wisely) You could also use a wire to help with tiny details. Piano wire works well or spring steel.
Awesome work. This is a perfect idea for a future project. Thanks.
So creative! Given all the things you have come up with I feel like you could create a mini movie - Ragnarok Nerdforge style!
LOVE THOSE!!! For the first time you build something that i think i might be able to do as well
You can also use clay softener before you bake to get rid of finger prints
You can use rubbing alcohol on a q-tip before baking to smooth out fingerprints and remove dust that gets stuck to polymer clay. I'm not very good at making stuff with polymer clay and this tip has saved so many of my projects 😂
Just when we think we have seen the peak of your skills, you blow past your limits. Congrats. My favorite goblet is Martina's first one, with the nature theme. I love the theme and the design so much. As for the situation with the quarantine, I wish you both the best and a speedy recovery. Much love from Greece.
I absolutely love you guys!! Best couple ever
Another great project, thanks for the entertainment. Looking forward to watching all your posted videos. Stay safe, stay healthy.
Those all came out looking so cool!
Martina youre hair color is to die for 😍😍✨
