@@alibabaei1953 It depends on the application and level of mechanical understanding. In my car, i know it would last holding 1200nm for extreme use. However i wont sit there slipping clutches or stress the box for no reason. The 8hp70 in particular seems very strong.
It optimises the engine tq making it to the wheels. While motors will have a large tq band. Say peak tq from 1900-3300rpm, however it’s only a few hundred rpm where that tq is efficient. Keeping the engine close to its optimal efficiency makes a massive difference not only in consumption but acceleration as well. On paper a constant variable transmission should be the best for this. However in reality cvt transmissions are very weak and also the lacklustre driving experience has almost made them obsolete for everything except full on economy boxes. The 8hp in particular can shift almost cvt like or like full race sequential transmission. It gives an amazing balance of efficiency and driving feel. It’s why nearly every high end European performance car has this transmission.
For the Turbolamik base map setup on FTE what signalling did you end using from the ECU? No ECU in my 80 Series so will need to look how to supply required TCU inputs.

The 8 speed conversion would be ace for earlier VE LS cars. I remember how bad the shifts were and it wasn't really fixed till VF-VFII. Having 8 speed and throttle blip downshift in VEs V8 would completely change those cars.
Scott at Capa performance has done one and is putting together a kit. He’s managed to get it working well with even gear display on the original ve cluster.
@ZeroTo60Tube that's incredible. Hopefully the words get out. The Commodore has such rubbish transmission hence why mine has been all manual. The Falcon ZF absolutely blows the GM offering away.
The manuals are fairly weak in these, slow to use and just not and smooth or exciting to drive as a modern auto. Its hard to get your head around what you can do with these 8hp. You can make them shift like racing transmission, or smooth like a rolls royce.
@ZeroTo60Tube it's a 4wd though, not a race car. It's designed for off road crawling basically in the same gear. Doesn't make sense to me. Best of luck.
Ahhh fair enough, yeah i guess these are not used as off road crawlers mainly. People use them to travel australia in. Journeys doing thousands of klms, where the smooth nice auto makes a lot of sense. Helps with towing, the hills and keeping the engine in its power band. Mind you the 8 gear ratios and torque converter make the slow off road stuff much easier as well. You should have a go in one when you can. @@chippyjohn1
I’ve been told to keep mine under 800nm for transmission life and reliability, maybe that is the main reason, auto would certainly be good for the whole driveline in terms of shock loading
This power would melt the stock auto and manual would be on borrowed time. It’s a heap of money, but makes the car so much better to drive, better on fuel and just better thing to own. I used to think the manual was better than a 8speed until I front one.
I have an LC200 and can't wait untill an 8speed conversion is available for it. I fucking hate, with all of my body, the shit show that is the LC200 auto box. It fucks around trying to find the correct gear for no reason, it never locks up, yes you can get a lockup kit, but still, only shitty situations where it will actually lock. I would gladly pay the money to fuck it off and have something that will let me get power to the ground, save fuel and be bullet proof. Each to their own. Don't whinge about how other people spend their own money you clown.
I've got a manual version and it's a slouch with this box . Even with 250wkw and 1000nm I'm lucky to crack 0-100 in 7.5 seconds. With an 8 speed auto however 🎉
Not a waste of money putting a 8 speed in it will increase the towing capacity acceleration less strain on drive line components etc. 25k upgrade is a lot less than 150k for a truck that wil tow
Yeah, i mean i get that the numbers sound astronomical. But when you have this sort of power available uphill over taking when towing is much safer. Much easier to maintain momentum going up hill in soft sand. You dont need it, but it makes life easier. And when you do want to have a play, it makes it a lot more exciting.

@@ZeroTo60Tube how much torque 8hps can withstand? simply taking a gearbox from a bmw and coupling it with a diesel one maybe works but can it make it in the long run?
@@alibabaei1953 It depends on the application and level of mechanical understanding. In my car, i know it would last holding 1200nm for extreme use. However i wont sit there slipping clutches or stress the box for no reason. The 8hp70 in particular seems very strong.
why do you need that many gears for ?
So nothing preventing a swap into a 1hd/1hz?
Not at all! They do have a more basic fuel pump, so it will just require working out the best way to get rpm.
Oh and a pedal sensor.
Am hanging out for your 8 speed. Am currently 300 rwhp with 750 nm and have maxed out my 4speed bus tranny
While test driving this we have the conversation about the coasters. Would make those things so much more useable too.
Same, my 1fzfe turbo is 450hp with the 4 speed.
For the Turbolamik base map setup on FTE what signalling did you end using from the ECU? No ECU in my 80 Series so will need to look how to supply required TCU inputs.
We used the fuel pump rpm signal with specific filtering values. But you will will simply need some sort of RPM or crank signal. However that needs to be accurate.
@@ZeroTo60Tube , Thanks for the reply.. Wow is that all, was expecting more. Was contemplating fitting a Hall Effect CAS in the engine adapter running from the flex-plate ring-gear assuming there is enough space. Edit: Just for pulse source for Tacho.
I see TOYOTA 1HD-FT, FTE TO BMW 8HP ADAPTER KIT thickness is noted as 57mm so there should be enough room to fit a Hall-Effect Sensor for use with 1HDT (and 1HZ-T) maybe worth considering adding prevision in adapter design for an common easy to find CAS module that can be used by Lamik TCU.
Which gearbox is it!? From ZF or Toyota?

Ultimate engine with the ultimate trans. Just in the wrong chassis
Please offer these for the Isuzu/Colorado 3.0. Worst part about them is the auto trans.
One of our customers is working on them for those. Haven’t had an update from them for a few months, they must be close.
Anything in the pipeline for 8hp swap for fg falcons?
It’s already done. However you need to run haltech engine ecu.
@@ZeroTo60Tubeoh awesome! I’m yet to see one. Have you got any links to videos etc of the ones that have been done? And also what’s a rough cost? ( not including haltech ecu)
I’m doing one atm. There is a fg Ute in WA already done.
1600RPM at ~100km/h??!! If you know the data, what's the fuel economy gone to?
Any updates on your 320d?
Unfortunately it got sold. I have sold a lot of cars to pay for the madness. However it’s now owned by someone that works at 8speed.
Currently tuned with in an inch of its life. Fast as for a 320d.
@@ZeroTo60Tube did it get a 8HP swap? Also whenever there’s time get a video no rush just whenever could be a year or two😂 just need a video on it.
1fz next👍
Absolutely!
I have an 1fz in a 105 series if you need a test case?
Put one behind the 1hz
Very very very cool
1fz next! ????
8speed for 1kd 👌👌
Thing sounds like a canal boat being fueled entirely by spanners.
Geez I wish I could get my UZJ100 5 speed manual down below 2000 rpm at 110kph. lol.
We got you!

Soo with all that extra power
What happened to upgradevthe pathetic crap brakes
Because standard.... The brakes are average
Why use an auto at all? Manual is far simpler and better, Is it just that people don't know how to drive?
😂 what a waste of money 25k nothing wrong with the auto or manual thats in it
I’ve been told to keep mine under 800nm for transmission life and reliability, maybe that is the main reason, auto would certainly be good for the whole driveline in terms of shock loading
Who needs that kind of power off roading?
I'll wait.
@@ZeroTo60Tube I understand physics etc., but c'mon.... it's not Paris - Dakar. After a certain point it just makes things much more dangerous for everyone.
The amateurs & kids don't know any better.... til they're stuffed on the heli for the trip to the ER.
But....... hand me the keys and I'm outta here!! 🤙🏽🍻👍🏽
Any kits for the 1kz 4wd or a340 transmission?
Not yet. Sorry
