    Excellent video Gus: the comparison segments going back and forth showing each seat, your position, etc.- fantastic! I wish more comparison videos used that technique. Some try to, but only do it once. When you gave us the opportunity to see them over and over, I had the chance to look at different things to compare. The skills you've utilised as a videographer throughout the videos you've produced have helped me more than once. Thanks for all you're doing!

That's extremely helpful.

    Great review of the seats! Thank you for taking the time! I took your advice and went with the corbin front and the mustang rear seat which as you said tremendously improved comfort! The only thing I miss are the helmet hooks that were on the bottom of the stock seat--apparently, I'm the only one on the Internet that used them, since no else finds that to be a problem. And I haven't found a fix that doesn't involve adding more keys to my keychain.

    Great Job Gus! Thanks for the info. Before I picked up my bike I had a local guy add 2" of padding as my hip flexors could not deal with the stock seat position. I have since added the T-Rex forward controls and after some time realized they still "splayed" me out and it was causing problems. Dropped a boatload of cash and got the DePretto controls and this helped quite a bit. Added a new smaller air hawk, but found it didn't help much. Pulled the trigger and got the mustang seat and it was like I was back on the stock seat, I couldn't hardly get my feet up on the pegs. Added my original large air hawk and stuck the new smaller one inside to get more "elevation". This worked for me. But....two pads on a $380 seat really seemed like a waste of money. I just returned the Mustang seat. Over the winter, I will learn a new skill. "How to modify/rebuild a motorcycle seat". If that doesn't work well, then I guess I will once again throw a boatload of money at a Corbin seat. Thanks for the great video!

    • @ontherebel11
      @ontherebel11  Рік тому

      Hi Jon! I feel your pain brother! You will find that adding more correctly shaped cushion to elevate you, will make a significant difference in comfort. I love the rebel too much to give up on it, hence why I invested so much time and money to get it to fit me.

    As always, excellent instructions. I never get actual pain, but my butt does need to be shifted off to one side every 15-20 minutes after the first hour or so of riding, then every 5-10 minutes. I used a stock forward seat, but I'm only 5'4". Also, I think that wider pillion seat is a good idea. My wife does not like the stock passenger seat, but a high rise sissy bar allows her to lean back a bit and made a huge difference. Again, thanks for the good work.

    Not long after purchasing the rebel (about the time this video came out) I watched and my brain said, "hmmm that's interesting". As a new rider, with the rebel being my first bike, I had no idea what was normal or comfortable or just me adjusting to riding a motorcycle. The factory seat did feel a bit off so I purchased the forward rider seat and I love the way it sort of locked me into the bike but I was still squirming after an hour of riding. Last week, having forgotten this fine video existed and with another weekend of moto-camping ahead, I purchased the air hawk. I feel a bit silly now that I've watched again because, yes, for the first day I did feel a bit like an air hockey puck slipping around. I got used to the slipping sensation but still not much relief. Well this has been a very long winded comment to say, my brain really enjoys your videos but it was my boney ass that brought me back here to re-watch and say thanks for the detailed review... I have a Corbin on order.

    Wow, you're really killing it! GREAT review. Must have cost a fortune buying them all. At least installing them was no pain in the a** and so is riding with the corbin. I wonder wether the cup shape comes with a rather stiff foam and how much braking in will change that.

      @ontherebel11  Рік тому

      Hi Lari, it's great to hear from you! Thank you for your kind words! 🙏 The Corbin is deceiving... It is hard foam but because of the additional support, no discomfort or pain is felt, it totally surprised me as I was rooting for the mustang to be completely honest. When ordering, Corbin will customize the foam and shape to your requirements, they gave me additional tail bone relief based on my request. I also know they put softer foam for some of the female riders. Let me know if you have any questions Lari 👍

      @larifari4371 Рік тому

      @@ontherebel11 Very intresting! I didn"t know they could do it with different foams. As I assume you got the hardest I wonder wether it still adds comfort to the shocks, sort of softening the road bumps a little. This is a little grape I have with my Rebel. I even reduced the tire pressure wich actually helped a bit. Not with the gas milage nor with the sporty ride of corse.

    Este video lo he visto decenas de veces, es una excelente comparativa, de verdad muy buena.
    Finalmente creo que no te hacían falta las 4'' del extensor de manillar si hubieras puesto otro asiento. Pero al ser el Corbin el más cómodo y al alejarte a la vez del manillar las necesitas.
    Posiblemente con un Mustang con 3'' hubieran sido suficientes.
    Como dices en otros videos (creo entender, ya que no hablo inglés, que pena) el Corvin es muy feo, pero con las alforjas (maletas) se disimula muy bien.
    La comparativa, como digo, es Bàrbara.
    El final está también muy bien: a pesar de que estas motos no están concebidas para ir en compañía muchos kilómetros, es muy interesante saber que existe el mustang para el pasajero que ayudará a que su viaje sea más agradable.
    Gracias de nuevo por tus videos!

    As a cyclist and biker myself, I understand the importance of choosing a comfortable saddle. It is essential for cyclists, especially those who ride for extended periods or participate in races, to find a saddle that suits their needs at very early stage. I agree with all the points you mentioned in your video.
    Additionally, it's worth noting that women tend to have wider sit bones compared to men. Therefore, what may be comfortable for women may not be the same for men. As a man, it is crucial to consider a saddle that not only supports your buttocks but also has a slimmer or tapered downward nose. This design helps reduce pressure on your inner thighs, preventing the blockage of blood flow and discomfort during longer rides.
    This is particularly true for shorter riders when your legs are tightly hugging the saddle, the numbness on your inner thighs will quickly build up due to the reduced blood flow. Therefore, it is essential to find a saddle that takes these factors into account for a more enjoyable riding experience.
    Have a comfy ride!!

  • @rpontonjr
    @rpontonjr Рік тому +1

    I have the Corbin Dual Tour and I had the luxury of riding into the Corbin factory and having it custom-fit. It's very comfortable! But I kind of agree with you about the looks. And it bolts to the rear fender, so you lose the ability to easily remove the seat. ...and if you don't add some padding under the metal bits, it will scuff your paint!
    I'm working on addressing the cosmetics with a sort of cap that covers the passenger seat and makes it look like a "gunfighter" style seat. Additionally, I hope to change out the bolt in the back to make it easier to remove. We'll see how that goes.
    I think Honda really messed up with the stock seat. Maybe it was fine for the smaller Rebels, but the acceleration on 1100 just drove my tailbone directly into the big metal bar at the back and gave a feeling of slipping off. Of course, I'm 6'0" and 280lbs, so maybe it just wasn't made for my size.

    I have been using the forward seat for everyday riding and the stock seat + air cushion pad (bought on Amazon) for interstate rides. After multi-500+ mile rides, the air cushion add-on is fairly good for comfort as it has ties that hold it to the seat. So may be an option for riders who want to limit the budget.

      Thank you Kris! The Corbin will push you back a little, but depending on how long each ride is, you might not feel a big difference. Ask yourself how long you intend on keeping the rebel, if you plan on keeping it for a few years, it is in your interest to get the Corbin, as it will set you up to be the most comfortable when you decide to add the risers in the future. Remember, the ultimate comfort is when your back is perfectly vertical in addition to the right seat. It's a tough pill to swallow, but well worth it if you ride for extended periods of time frequently. 🤙

      It really depends on how you intend on using the bike, if you plan on touring 300 miles a day - Corbin all the way. Otherwise the mustang is gonna save you money, looks better and will keep you lower and closer to the bars. I sacrificed a few things and use the Corbin because every time I ride it's at least 250 a day, or 1,000 mile trip.

      @@ontherebel11 I have yet to go further than about 30 miles but I got it late in the season and it's still temperamental here. I can't say how far I might go as this is only my 2nd motorcycle by a couple months and the first is a Navi, I have combined less than 1500 miles between both. I'd like to take a 100 mile plus one way if the weather would cooperate a bit more. The price of the Corbin is a little off putting for sure especially if I wanted a back rest as those are nearly the price of a mustang but mustang doesn't offer back rests.

    I just took my longest ride yet, about 8 hours. With my upgraded seat I had some discomfort but never pain. I wonder: how long of a trip have you done in one stretch with that Corbin? Because if you have no discomfort at all, the price seems worth it.

      Congratulations man!! I've done multiple +14 hour days with the corbin, no way i could do it on the oem seat... worth every penny and more! I tour quite a bit, i'm at 30,000 miles, so the corbin was a must!

    Thanks! The only thing missing from perfection is that you and your passenger haven't tried the dual Corbin saddle, it would be interesting to know what the passenger thinks of the comfort regardless of not liking the saddle. 🙂
    Because I'm about to buy a dual Corbin saddle, even with electric heating :-D But you're right that your combination probably looks better.

      Hi Jiri! Yes I would really like to test the touring dual with backrests! I hope I can in the near future!

      @@ontherebel11 I'm watching your video again. I can't say I don't like the Corbin dual seat, but I did find a video of the owner showing how the Corbin dual seat damaged his fender. And now I don't know. :-) By the way - your "brown and black" version isn't bad at all. You can't actually see the black on the back, it looks like the solo version :-)

      Hi Jiri! Thanks for the update brother! If I had the means I would have liked to try the Corbin dual with backrests.... In the winter I prefer to ride alone, so I don't have the mustang passenger seat on at the moment. Fyi, in person the mustang just looks so sexy tbh!

      @@ontherebel11 Hi, thanks for the answer. I am still considering buying a dual Corbin, even with electric heating. But I found some videos where people complain that the seats destroy the fender and frame behind the front seat. Plus, Corbin doesn't communicate - their dealership doesn't exist here, and they don't respond at all to requests from the form on their website for the nearest dealer. So I don't know... :-D

      @@jiriberanek791 hi Jiri! I've seen evidence of the Corbin scratching the frame, even mine is starting to put a small scratch on the frame... It is one of the rivets that attaches the leather to the seat that is making contact with the frame...
      Sometimes it's difficult to get a response via email, I had better luck with calling them directly if that is an option you can consider
