A few of the problems in this review have been resolved since making this video. A firmware update added a shortcut to the model select page in the start page also they changed it so you can see the model name when switching models. Also unsurprisingly there are a ton of bind and fly’s for the evo now. Also a really great micro divercity receiver for micros the fli14+. Happy flying!
@@goldenthepot6361 All receivers that use the FlySky AFHDS 2A protocol will work. Just look for that in the product description. These days that is essentially anything that ships with flysky. If you are looking at getting this radio now I would really consider the Jumper T-lite 4 in one instead. It is a lot more modern and has way more features for just a bit more money. Hope that helps!
YT recommended me this video probably because I love my Evolution. Really great edited video! I've got a Snapper7 on the way, should be AFHDS-2A compatible for some indoor flying. Seems like the BNF whoops have come a long way with receiver choices.
Haha yeah, the Evo is pretty awesome transmitter! Ohh that's awesome, haven't tried it but it seems really great! Yes a bit of a bad on my part, when I got the tx there was absolutely no bnf models but now there seems to be quite a few which is really nice 😃 To bad I can't just change that part of the review... Have a nice day and good luck with your Snapper 7 💪🏻
Yes indeed! You mean the Taranis Q X7S right? I've seen it popping up on the local fpv forum a lot and it looks really nice! A bit bulky for my taste still though. I wish frsky would make a turnigy evo style radio with their premium features.
I like this because it's kinda like an xbox1x elite controller........ lol, except it's got the screen up top. Are the gimbals up-gradable? Because I don't know what Transmitters will work w/ what other components I'm sort of stuck in my pursuit of this hobby? I have money to get what I want but I can't really tell what is/isn't w/ all these Transmitters? I want a "User Friendly" model which I don't spend hours trying to program? Any ideas? peace
Hey! Sorry for the late reply, the gimbals can be upgraded but it is not very easy. I've seen a few people install hall effect gimbals so it is possible but not officially supported. The Turnigy is very well supported and it is not hard at all to find models that support it so don't worry about that. The transmitter is super easy to use and it has one of the best interfaces I've seen for people that just want a transmitter that works. This transmitter is available on hobby king right now for a completely insane price (30eur)! They have also released a pro version with a few updates however I personally don't feel that is is worth the extra cash, as far as I know although updated the pro doesn't feature hall effect gimbals either. I would definitely go for the turnigy, its a great radio. The only reason why I wouldn't go with it is if you want to do long range as it doesn't have a transmitter bay. Hope that helps and that the answer wasn't too late! I'll be happy to answer more questions if you want. Happy flying!
@@dronexsweden6906 ~ No, you weren't too late as I've spent numerous hours over the last 10 months looking at all the parts/pieces of the Hobby & these groups are making products well behind the Technology. I say that because the menu driven systems are 1990's Flat File Menus & I don't like them.... lol, I'm also stuck because I want the easiest to use while not being told I can't fly a particular brand of plane/quad. They've got "Locks": to keep people buying only their products & that's somehow wrong but you are a sharp you man, I appreciate your knowledge & thus your opinion. peace
@@diggydice9041 You're totally right! The menu system and interface does indeed look very old and outdated that being said however it does really do what it should and you won't really be looking at it either, you will be looking in your goggles. If you go with the Turnigy you are of course looked into the Flysky system. However your not looked into turnigy. Many manufacturers makes flysky receivers thus ensuring a competitive market. Also note that since flysky is one of the largest systems basically every fc with a built in receiver will have a compatible receiver these days. Receivers are a pretty cheap component, worst case you just replace your receivers if you want to switch to another brand later. One thing it does limit you in though is flying planes without a flight controller. However it isn't really a problem unless you want to build a ultralight plane as a flight controller in a plane is always a good thing. Another limit being a cheap transmitter is of course the range but you won't get anything better in this price range, if you know range is a big deal for you then you might want to look at the frsky lineup. Hope that helps!
I love your house door :) That's the stereotypical Swedish door I had in mind haha Love the video ;) My flyingbuddy has an evo and i like it but not sure if I want to get into it ;) mainly cause I have very little cash to spend and my radio which is a radiolink r9 I think, still works ;)
Flying Pant FPV Hahaha 😂 Yeah it is definitely a hard choice. However I feel like switching from a radio link transmitter is a lot easier than switching from a Taranis since it shares a lot of the cons. Most importantly the lack of bind and fly models. A bit of a correction though, apparently it turns out some bind and fly models actually exists for the turnigy evolution! However the range on the radiolinks are very good. At least the AT10 I had. Never lost signal with that one. So that is probably the thing I miss the most. I haven’t had trouble with the range on the turnigy but it just feels risky to go long range. Maybe that will help you in your decision 😅
DroneX Sweden thanks bro for the in depth reply 😉 yeah well i got an at9 and honestly as i go further away i start feeling a delay in the controls.. so that aint too good haha, i think i will opt for a turnigy as soon as my flying season starts in march sometime ;) keep up the good work with your videos ;)
No problem, glad I could help 😀 That sounds like a great idea! I think you will be very happy with it. I think why you experience a delay when flying long range is actually not because of the transmitter as radio waves travel at the speed of light. However what you are most likely experiencing is the sound of the quad getting very delayed and therefore tricking your mind into thinking that you have a delay on the controls! I have experienced this a lot and come to the conclusion that that must be it. Solve this by using a vtx with audio or just listen to music instead of the quad in the distance 😉 Cheers!
DroneX Sweden you are genius bro :) this idea actually did cross my mind but i mostly dont fly long range so i forgot about but absolutely that's what actually happened!
Thanks! It's Fatshark dominator V3 FPV goggles. While they look a lot like VR-headsets they don't do any tracking as the camera on the quad is stationary.

Very high production quality with your videos. Well done, hope you put out more

Very well made and thorough review vid! you talked me into it!

The snapper7 and evolution combo are awesome.
I can imagine that!
Hi I just need to choose snapper and flysky right
I fly whit the Evolution to and have the same problems as you, but i love it.. the new taranis looks really nice!

No they are making a evolution style transmitter...
Taranis X-LITE... listed on banggood..
I see that looks very interesting! I'll be keeping an eye out for that one for sure!
With which rx's can it bind?! Frsky, Spectrum?!
So this tx is not for Trashcan, Tiny Hawk 2 etc. whoops?
It binds to flysky receivers using the AFHDS A2 protocol. Most bind and fly's today support that now. I hope that helps, happy flying!

Nice video. 05:06 they changed it with an update

Does it have USB to connect to a drone simulator?
Yes it does! It is just super convenient!

Does the Turnigy work in BetaFlight?
Yes absolutely! Betaflight talks with the flight controller so as long as your receiver is talking with the flight controller it works.
Here is another video more in depth on connecting the receiver and flight controller: ua-cam.com/video/RvagKFMT5H0/v-deo.html

You can get micros that work with the Evolution now...
That's awesome! I'll pin this comment so people can see it! To bad it does not work with the regular FlySky bind and flies though.
Now the bnf's often come with afhds 2a
That's really cool. I'll guess I'll have to keep a closer eye on that, thanks for the heads up!
