How to connect IBUS and other receivers to the GEPRC Phantom

The GEPRC Phantom comes prewired with SBUS. I had a lot of trouble finding any documentation for the flight controller so I couldn't find a way to wire IBUS. I finally managed to get in touch with GEPRC trough their facebook page and got a short reply. Trough that and some measuring I managed to figure out the pinouts. Hope it helps! QUICK TIP: How to fix a broken balance lead
Great video! Just got back to droning after a long break, flying my mobula again and soon the 5inch will spin toooo
you look entreperenaur, good bezig bro
What is the weight of this frame compared to the stock one?
Great stuff thx u!
dam bro this is really good
Great job on this frame.
Appreciate your efforts, simply all I need as a new fpv pilot.
just fantastic. and i will make a video on this soon! also the amount of work you put in to making this video is impressive!
I saw your video and I have the same problem as you with the remote control antenna what kind of antenna should i look for for modification?
I used a 2.4G 5dB Antenna RP-SMA. Any antenna with those specs should work! You might also be able to use an even higher dbi antenna but it might also fry it.
Your toothpick frame link sends you to malware
You're right, he has since moved on to the new domain fpvcycle. I've updated the link fpvcycle.com/collections/frames/products/fpvcycle-babytooth-frame-choose-your-thickness
Great video I just got one of these
Wouldn't it be better if the manufacturers started putting the battery holster so the battery is in sideways? That way, it would not get ejected so easily. Seem like a simple fix. Gonna 3d print something and give it a go.
What an awesome location!
Exchange the connectors to XT30. Only use 350mAh 2s LiPos.
Is this a dead channel now, the web site doesnt xist and no new content since july 2021?
Unfortunately, I just haven’t had time to make videos lately. But I have plans to keep making videos but not a specific timeframe. This channel is a passion project which means it unfortunately is prioritised under my education and work 😬
DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OFCRAP!!!!...IT WILL BREAK IN A MATTER OF DAYS!!!
You can put a jumper wire on one of the battery connections short it and run on one 1s battery.
Hi Mate, in which city do u live? ii just moved to vaxjo and looking for some fpv friends.
Hi! Ahh, you mean Växsjö? Unfortunately, I live further up north in Västerås but I would recommend you check out "FPV Sverige" on Facebook there you can find lots of local fliers!
Have you considered ELRS ?? Would be great if you did ✌️😊
can use 6s2p lion 6000mah
It probably would work but it would be massively underpowered. If you want to use a lion battery you should probably look for a setup specifically made for that. This setup is more made for good freestyle performance while allowing for some long-range flight.
@@dronexsweden6906 thanks
Links are down to the câmera can you please update so I Can try do this?thanks
Any all in one fpv camera that supports 1s voltage will do. Like this one! m.banggood.com/Eachine-TX06-700TVL-FOV-120-Degree-5_8Ghz-48CH-Smart-Audio-Mini-FPV-Camera-Support-Pitmode-AIO-Transmitter-For-RC-Drone-Tiny-Whoop-p-1413572.html?rmmds=search&act_poa=POA4005407&cur_warehouse=CN
That camera also supports smart audio but in your case you probably don’t have support for it so you can just skip those cables

Glad I could help!
Great review. And damn Germans speak great English! 👍
What does the cable look like for sbus. Or can I use a male to male servo cable
Awesome!!! do you think its possible integrate express lrs into evolution??
Yes I do believe so! I haven't tinkered around with express lrs but probably it has ppm or some other standardized input that could be used in a similar way. It would require some research and testing but with determination I think it would be possible!
@@dronexsweden6906 They have flashed opentx to Flysky i6x and added ELRS module.
@@balajiprasad9046 Wow that's really cool! Like on the main logic board? However, I doubt this will come to the evo since so few people use it in comparison and it's getting old now. It has as far as I know a completely different logic board. But that would be awesome if it did!
@@dronexsweden6906yes... Since i6x is so popular they released a fork of opentx for i6x and it uses crossfire shot and not ppm so it is a legit ELRS radio. Anyway ELRS radios are not so expensive so can directly get them.
@@balajiprasad9046 That's really cool, love it! But yeah there are soo many great cheap express LRS ready controllers these days. I switched to the jumper t-lite which just fixes all the issues with the evo.
i tried to install a TBS crossfire nano rx . but when i power it up and have it connected to my pc and beta flight, there doesnt seem to get any input through altough i have binded succesfully the rx to my tango 2 any ideas? as far as i know i need the TX and the RX
The TBS crossfire does not use SBUS. You will need to use the TX2 and RX2 pads. Have you connected it to them and selected uart 2 for rx input in betaflight? If it still don't work try swapping the RX and TX cables they are easy to get wrong.
@@dronexsweden6906 ok ive tried to switch to uar2. is the tbs crossfire a serial reciever, as in do i need to switch that button on too in betaflight, right next to uart2?
@@dronexsweden6906 ok i tried also to switch the tx2 and rx2 cables but still got it wrong somehow.
Hi i tried to do this however I am not getting any inputs on betaflight. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?
Most likely the problem is with how you wired up and configured the crossfire receiver on your quad. Are you sure you have set the right protocol (CRSF) in betaflight and set the UART connected to the receiver to rx in the ports tab? Otherwise if your stick input changes when powering on the crossfire transmitter the then the problem is instead between your arduino and transmitter. In that case double check your wiring and double check that the arduino has the code loaded. Hope that helps!
@@dronexsweden6906 i managed to get it working however my midpoint is not centered. possible to get some help how to tune it on the arduino?
Love your work. What screwdriver is that? Is that a light on it?
Thanks, glad you liked it! The screwdriver is a wowstick. If you tinker a lot with electronics and screws you will love it, its awesome! It charges via usb has a built in led light and a pretty powerful motor.
@@dronexsweden6906 thank you so much bro. Did I see a drill too? Which drill was that?
@@darbyisking Nope only a screwdriver.
I think I have to agree about smaller quads being the future, 5''ers are heavy, loud af and dangerous af. That being said, I will keep my 5'' until small quads catch up to the handling and HD recording capavilites. I particularly don't like the fragility of a naked gopro and the latency of a split fpv camera.
Agreed! I forgot to mention naked gopros but I share the same opinion. For me, they are not a valid option since I want a quad I can bash around without it breaking. With all that in mind, I am a big fan of the insta 360 go 2. For me, it seems to be the best option right now.
I did this with a baby turtle. I also had access to larger motors (1203) which helped negate the slightly heavier weight. My biggest grip is now image stabilization bit with some practice and tuning you can get relatively smooth footage.
Ahh that sounds awesome! I would recommend checking out gyroflow if you want stabilization but want to keep using a split type camera. It uses the gyro data from blackbox on your fc to stabilize your footage in post. Looks really good but is a bit of work to work with.
I see the balance charge is only 0.24 amps so does it take a long time to complete balance charging?
No, not that I've noted. However, I use it solely with ≈650mah batteries and for those 0.24 is a pretty fast balance. I doubt that you will see any major difference in balance speed with this charger compared to other ones. I went from an eachine gemini 2100 (internally close to identical to the IMAX B6AC) and I couldn't tell if there was a difference. However, I didn't manage to find any specs online stating their balance speed but I doubt it would be any different. Hope that helps!
you should try 3.5in its the bees knees
Yes definitely! Any specific props you specifically like?
Hi! Cool tricks. How did you get the the props out of the image?
Thanks! They’re still in view! If you look more closely you can se them. I’m using dark translucent props which makes them hard to spot.
Hey, thanks for your awesome video! I’m kinda new to this topic and well, I’d really like to build my very own fpv drone, and potentially sell some 🤷♂️ :) I’d like to ask you if you might have a video on how to actually choose the fitting right components.. or know a video like this. Thx so much in advance!
(Kinda edit): I’m not sure at all if I’m able to buy stuff separately online without the entire thing just blowing up.. maybe you could tell me if this is actually all I need to know or something like that ;)
Hey! Glad you liked it! I don't have a specific video like that, this would be the closest thing. You could check out my 6inch build video I think it would be very useful. Do you have any idea what class of drones you want to build? Micro long-range, 5 inch, thoothpick style, etc.
@@dronexsweden6906 thanks for answering! Maybe something like a 5 inch freestyle quad and later on a long range one :)
@@gamingtune5154 Awesome then I think my 6inch build video would suit you perfectly! If you want to go more towards freestyle you could always pick up a more durable heavier frame. Otherwise, go for the frame I used and you will have a bit of a jack of all trades.
@@dronexsweden6906 Wow thank you very much, I'll tell you when I build one :3
Where did you get your handheld screwdriver drill?
It's a wowstick screwdriver. I highly recommend it, it is amazing for working on quads. I bought mine from banggood but they are readily available from a lot of different stores.
Can you flash express LRS in to a tgy evo?
No, not that I am aware. You would most likely need to do some heavy modifications similar to the ones I made in this video.
thank you for this video.
Interesting observation about how 3" props feel more like a 5" over 4", I hope more people take notice of this and try it out!
Yes, this was really surprising to me! But I think it makes sense, it's like putting 5 inch props vs 6 inch on a regular freestyle drone! The 4 inch props is just really a stretch for such a light craft only really useful if flight time is the number one priority.
I cannot agree. I had a 3" Armattan Gecko and it was a blast, but since I've converted it to 4" with lower-pitched props its just much smoother, got longer flight time and really feels like a 5" actually. If a 4" flies better with 3" props, you probably just need lower-pitch props, or try some bigger motors.
@@l0stb1t Interesting! Glad you found something that works for you. I personally like the 4" low pitch prop setup too but I just feel like you get a really floaty low-end stick feel and a lackluster top. But I guess the real takeaway is how different they are and the importance of testing both to find your favorite. Happy flying!
If you want hd cam for less than 100€ you Can buy GoPro 4 black on Aliexpress and striped it
Yes! I totally forgot to mention naked GoPros! However, I think while they are a good option for micro long-range setups I wouldn't want to use them for more freestyle-oriented flying as they seem quite fragile. It is so annoying to know that GoPro's can be that lightweight but that GoPro simply won't make an FPV oriented cam with a different form factor and without unnecessary components for a drone cam like screen and large battery.
I found the Mobula 7 to be a crappy indoor flier as it came. Throttle management is a bear, always chasing the right power and difficult to keep stable for hovering. I'm fairly happy with it outdoors. Maybe I'll try different PIDs, but I plan on a frame and prop swap for flying outdoors.
Put a %80 throttle limit on different animal then
I was looking for a simple video to explains easily, this vid was just that, thanks very much and keep sharing info like this for new people.
I have one of these and it flies amazing for the size. I am switching from the large and expensive 5" quads to all sub 250 quads and loving it!
Yeah, I totally agree with you! I have done the same. I only fly sub 250 these days, it's just way more convenient!
