    Oviraptorids may have also had their eggs eaten by young Tarbosaurus', Velociraptor and possibly some small reptiles or mammals, not 100% sure on what all lived in that time and place, but I'm sure a lot of animals and dinosaurs would have loved a snack of Oviraptor eggs/babies and or Protoceratops eggs/babies. Absolutely amazing video! Great work!

    Y'know, titanosaurs have always fascinated me, like how strong must've those necks been to be able to lift and move as suggested? How strong were those legs to sustain such weight? And just how powerful were those tails? Also, to think that at one point this world had such giants walking around is so fascinating, because at the end of the day even lovecraft, one of my favourite writers, took inspiration from these findings to write stories, remains of ancient beings that once ruled our world that we might never meet, and will be left speculating about with our understanding of reality... how cool is that?

    I was going to try to go to sleep until I spotted this at about 3:23 a.m.. I have been fascinated by paleontology sine I was about five years old. It is interesting that we learn more and more about these ancient creatures.
    Sometimes I wonder how much we have gotten right, and how much we may be mistaken about.
    As our environment continues to change, we may reach a point were we go extinct. I wonder what creatures may evolve to take our place. What might they make of us?

    It's not particularly encouraging when the first few words of the documentary talk about the "very first dinosaurs" then immediately goes into describing Triceratops, a dinosaur which appeared well over 150 million years *after* the very first dinosaurs, approximately 170 million years after. Triceratops appeared roughly 3 million years before the end of the dinosaur era. Meanwhile, the very first dinosaurs appeared somewhere in the area of 240 million years ago. Perhaps that opening narration was just a general introduction to every episode of the series, if in fact this is part of a series? Otherwise, it looks very good, very nicely done. I look forward to watching the rest of it.

    • @gknaturalhistory
      @gknaturalhistory  Рік тому +1

      Hi Tom, thank you for taking the time to write your thoughts. Yes it is a part of the series, an introduction segment only.

  • @TheKoojee
    @TheKoojee Рік тому

    At 12:10 the narrator states Oviraptor's enemies "such as Tyrannosaurus Rex".
    No T.Rexs' ever encountered any Oviraptors because the former lived on a different continent to to latter.
    Perhaps the narrator meant a beast similar to T Rex called Tarbosaurus.

    My first question in a lot of these when they're compared to a rhinoceros which was my first observation even as a child is....
    Could this possibly be an example of parallel evolution?
    As in large land mammals evolved to basically be the same thing in the Rhinoceros?
    On a layman's terms
    I also have a hard time believing that anything with a hooked beak only ate plants
    I grew up with my family raising exotic parrots and one of their favorite things to come and snatch off the plate.... as they were allowed to basically free roam the house and the yard was chicken or anything else people were eating which included turkey and beef and they had no problem eating it and no problem digesting it
    And we had everything from African grays to golf and cockatoos to sun conures....
    All of which carry a lot of the same structural features when it comes to feeding and again this is just coming from observation and almost two decades being around these birds before I moved away from them because they're loud in the am
    And when it comes to comparisons to the current iguanas I've seen them eat kittens....
    I'm just saying it's hard to say from a historical point of view that any of these animals weren't omnivorous
    I really enjoy your work but a lot of these guys that wrote things down as facts are a little bit sketchy to me because I haven't seen iguanas eat a whole lot of anything outside of grubs and high protein high value targets kind of like the birds I spent decades raising with my family
