Nandini , I am teaching my grandchildren Tamil ..Your videos are really helpful. Continue your good work . it is a great service to Tamil
I like how she slyly teaches us just as much Malay as Tamil!
Hi I'm from Tamil Nadu..I teach you Tamil.... you teach me English?
I am bengali, I also love tamil language.. and you are just amazing. I learn tamil to your conversation and I love your videos 🥰 Thank you Nandini❤
Arey same Kolkata te bari?
Got 2 mistakes in this video. Pain in tamil is வலி which is pronounced as vali and not vazhi. வழி(vazhi) is referring to way/jalan.
Secondly, I don’t understand in tamil is enaku puriya villai (எனக்கு புரியவில்லை). Enaku puriyathu (எனக்கு புரியாது) means I won’t understand which is in future tense.
Hope it helps ☺️😉
Hi Sai,
For 'I don't understand' -- in terms of usage, can you pls explain what you mean by 'future tense'?
And how to apply 'enneke puriya villai' and 'enneke puriyathu', the difference betw the two?
😊
Puriyathu is still correct in conversation....tense is not that important for that word.....we can still say "enakku tamil puriyathu"..bcs in this context, "puriyathu" is not really a verb but a condition or more like an adjective...You're describing that you're being in a state of not understanding Tamil...so "puriyathu" is very much acceptable without taking tenses into account. Morever, "puriyathu" can also be considered simple present tense. For example, Q: "Avan Mandarin le kelvi ketkumbothu nee yen bathil sollale?". A: "Enakku Mandarin puriyathu, naa epdi bathil solle??" So in this case, "puriyathu" acts as a simple present tense. Hope it helps you to figure it out. 🙂🙂
@@meichwen5469 Just forget it...you can use them both actually
@@agilanraaj8337 Oooohh... Translation pls, for after the part about not understanding Mandarin... 👏🏽👏🏽☺️
@@meichwen5469 You mean the translation for "naa epdi bathil solle?" ?
I guess Poithuvaren can also be translated as "See you later" Nandini this is another beautifully presented yet fun presentation.......Thanks a million!
I'm Rajasthani but i like tamil kunjum kunjum ...........so that's why I learn tamil .....
Vanakkam!
Thank you Nandini for this tutorial!! PLEASE MAKE MORE!!!
Ok, I have some questions:
1) For 'Rain', how come it's spelt 'Mazhai' but pronounced 'Mallei' / 'Marrei' (proper)?? Does 'zh' sound like 'L'/'R'?
2) 'Nice' -- I've been pronouncing 'Nalla Yerreke', but in the vid it's spelt 'Nalla IRRUKU'...
So, if one were to speak directly from reading the romanised text without hearing the pronunciation, it'll sound like, 'Nalla eerookoo'... Totally different, kan??
In general, do the 'U's end off with the 'er' sound?
3) Same with 'Illai' -- most ppl grow up saying 'Yillek'.
Are there some rules that apply here?
How to reconcile pronouncing words/phrases and writing them in romanised form as they are HEARD vs how the words are spelt, as shown in the video? Must get both right laa... Like that baru speak that time sound like native speaker mahh... ;D ;D
Rombe Nandri!!
I’m facing similar issues with learning Tamil. The words are pronounced n written (in English subtitles) very differently. Its very confusing to me.
Hi 👋, ad a tamizhan myself, this is all very accurate 😄 and indeed tge right words 👏 but I have some suggestions, not corrections but suggestions ☺️
For how much, u can also say idhu evalo, which is a shortened form of evalavu too.
Ennaku puriyadhu is more like ' I won't understand' rather than ' I don't understand.
U can say 'ennaku puriyavillai' or even 'ennaku puriliyae' instead lah.
Like the vid ❤️ lots of love 😍
Yeah I commented the same thing
2:29 actually means "I won't understand"
I don't understand would be "Ennaku puriyala"
Favourite verse tu mess with my indian friends is 'dey purri illai, tamil pesa' or purri illai, malay pesa. 😂🤣 and also nalee ureke everytime i go eat banana leaf rice lah. 👍🏻💪🏻

You are so lovely.❤
thank god for this vid bc all my indian tamil speaking friends teach me bad words
