Red is really, really good now, even better than the good old days. There was a mammoth crappie bite there a few years ago . My nephew caught a nice one and it’s on their wall now(2 lbs. 5 oz.). The DNR , with the Red Lake band of Ojibwa, has done a great job. Hopefully Mille Lacs will follow. Nice job, per usual
*Great item. First cast out of the package caught a nice bass. Pulls smooth in the water and sets up nicely immediately upon retrieval. Worth adding to your tackle box.*
Once again IDO drops a bomb video of how you can improve your tactics on the ice, I'm definitely using these techniques this winter here in Michigan!! GOOD JOB IDO
My son and I were there when you were filming, we walked out past you guys while you were unloading your trailer. We killed it right off the bat...then again from 1:30-2:30. came in waves, most on tip ups and dead sticks. the day before it was jigging. It was our first time out to Red, will not be our last!
I refrain from eating/ordering fish all year so when we have our yearly fish fry, at our yearly fishing trip, it tastes that much better. Love walleye but bluegills are my favorite. Also, we use lard(a tip from a guide) which is getting harder to find, to fry them in.I’m salivating now as I think about it.
Great show! Would love to see you guys to web extra bloopers reel sometime. I’m sure James was real happy after falling through just stepping on the ice.
Great show James and PJ no need to hit the Gym with all the running you were doing. Wish we had fishable ice here in northern Wisconsin. Any ice we did have is not safe after this storm. Pj when we get safe ice on the bay I want to do some white fishing with you. Thanks for the show.
I’ll be up there the 10th-13th of December in a sleeper.. hoping the ice shapes up within the next 9 days so we could possibly be able to fish all day and all night out on the ice.
What kind of line do you use with the bait feeder reel? It looks like mono. I'm concerned with ice forming on the line which would affect the "bait feeding" function of the reel.
We'd love to but filming in the BWCA requires special permits that the park will not issue to us. We've tried numerous times. Commercial filming in the park without a permit is subject to some pretty huge fines.
When did Ifishpro come out with its 2.0 model? I just bought one end of last ice season and it doesn’t have the foam feature to keep your hole from freezing the new ones have 🤨. Had I known would have waited for the new model!
The egg sinker is used to get the minnow quickly back down to the intended depth and keep the minnow from having excessive freedom of movement. When the fish starts to swim off with the bait the flag pops and the egg sinker drops to the bottom. At that point it acts just like a sliding sinker on a Lindy rig. The line feeds through the egg sinker and the fish doesn't feel any resistance.
InDepthOutdoorsTV thank you for the explanation I really appreciate it. If you were deadsticking in a shanty with the rod right next to you on a bucket and using a baitrunner reel would you still use the egg sinker? Or since you could quickly pick up the rod would it be unnecessary?
The Milwaukee drill is a nice addition for early ice. We will be switching back to the 40 volt power head here in a couple weeks once the ice thickness surpasses a foot or more.
You guys would be shocked at how many holes you can drill with 2 feet of ice and one battery. Get an extension and lighten that sled. I have 3 batteries for those long weekends. You guys coming back to Wisconsin anytime soon?
Holy smokes, that must set a record for the fastest response ever! Thanks a million! I’ll be looking into one of those. Great fishing info, too. Love your enthusiasm.
That app Fish Smart is lame. I already have the $200 card in my Humminbird but can’t transfer those to my phone for free? Gotta spend $10+ dollars for a single lake that I could just look at my humminbird to see lol what a rip off. Red Lake alone is $30....

Great show guys! I agree that sometimes when you turn around a bad day of fishing it is very rewarding! Always love seeing PJ on the show too!

How far out is the walk for good spots ?? 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Great episode! It proved that even the pros can struggle sometimes, but persistence pays off.
Nothing beats a good ole fish fry! Awesome episode!

He didn't say much. I don't think he even mentioned it until after we got off the ice so that one didn't add much to the blooper reel.
Glad to hear that even weather fishermen experience the struggle bus but can get off of the bus with these tactics!

Great video. Can’t wait to get out on the lakes here in Minnesota
Tough bite...but you guys were still smacking them!
Awesome Video! We have already made three trips to Red Lake. It is truly one of the best fisheries in Minnesota. Especially for early ice!
Videos got me hoping for some cold temps in north central IL. great show guys.
Jeff Scherer I know the weather has been terrible I Illinois rod ice fishing. It will be cold for 2 days then back to 40s
AWESOME video as usual.....PJ should patent his knee slide!!
Seriously contemplating an I fish pro. Great video James!
get one, you will be satisfied
To much set up i have 2 maybe i just like my old school tip up

Night bite isn't anything special on Red, have fun though.
Another great informative video like always! I learn so much from you guys.
Thanks Hunter!
Awesome video!!!
you guys are making me wish I bought walleye tags this year
Great stuff guys, wish there were some walleye waters close to me!
Great show ! Might have to try that Ifish Pro set up .
Great video guys !
What hooks due you use on your I fish pros
2 weeks ago me and some buddies went out to red lake and we coughs 11 fish and came home with 9
Nice!... adapt and conquered 👊👊☝️
I cannnnnnnntttt wait, you got some good shows this year????
Is there a small storage box on I fish pro , for shake hand warmers!???
What kind of drill do you use with your k-drill set up? Is it more of an impact drill type?
Way to keep that camera man running 😎 great job men
Nice to see PJ supporting the Bunny Boot's again this season!!! I don't know how he can wear them, too heavy of a boot for these old legs and feet.
We've offered to buy him different boots and have a ceremonial burning of the bunnies but he's having none of it.
😂😂😂😂 NEVER!!
@@InDepthOutdoorsTV Have to buy PJ a pair of Micky Mouse boots instead to match his new StrikeMaster Suit!!!
@@InDepthOutdoorsTV Or pump some air into his Bunny Boots so he can hop to the IFish Pro's, lol.
@@drtdbbt2588 don't encourage him! 😆
Nice video, like those Titans you guys ride! Ever use them for trail riding when you are not fishing?
What kind of line do you use with the bait feeder reel? It looks like mono. I'm concerned with ice forming on the line which would affect the "bait feeding" function of the reel.
#6 Sufix Advance mono.
I will let you know how I'm doing when season opens! For us here!
In the summer you should go to boundary waters in Minnesota
We'd love to but filming in the BWCA requires special permits that the park will not issue to us. We've tried numerous times. Commercial filming in the park without a permit is subject to some pretty huge fines.
InDepthOutdoorsTV lol that is so lame. You can’t film nature.... 😂😂😂
great show guys!!
Thanks Adam. This last series of storms is going to be quite the challenge to anyone looking to get out on the ice.

The new version was released for this ice season. It was not available last spring.
How much ice do ya got up there?
Why the 1/4 oz sliding sinker? Does it sit on the bottom when the fish runs so they don’t feel the weight or do you set the bait on the bottom?

With the rod close at hand you should be fine.
I was wondering how long it would be before you guys switched to the Milwaukee M18 Drill.
The Milwaukee drill is a nice addition for early ice. We will be switching back to the 40 volt power head here in a couple weeks once the ice thickness surpasses a foot or more.

Ice is that thick already?!
Sure would like to know what that auger is you’re using with the Milwaukee drill.
StrikeMaster lite flite 8".

Great episode. Itching to get out. Any tips for early-ice rainbow trout?
Light flashy flutter spoons in natural colors tipped with eurolarva or waxworms on one rod and a small minnow, if legal to use, on your other.
What kind of rods would you recommend for the I fish pro? I was looking at the tuned up dead stick either 32 or 36 with that okuma bait feeder reel.
I would go with a 32-34” dead stick and the Okuma ceymar baitfeeder in the 500 series.
@@InDepthOutdoorsTV thanks for the quick response great show this week keep up the awesome job and stay safe out there.
Nice walleye
My uncles son in law Speared 49inch pike on bowstring by deer river Minnesota
Tip ups , hand heater
What happened to the otter houses?
Use a slow retrieve and attracts a range of fish
Studying for when I take family and friends! Lol they are muscle, I gotta find them , put them on fish lol
Awesome episode as always!!! Question why did you guys switch from Otter to Eskimo?
Otter opted to end their relationship with IDO this past summer.
@@InDepthOutdoorsTV well darn that stinks!!
@@codymartin9703 doors close, windows open. Eskimo has been awesome to work with and they make a very nice flip over.
What boots is PJ wearing?
Military issue bunny boots
Pj with the Goat lol
cool!

Who's going to red Thanksgiving weekend?
Fish red lake Ontario!!
You guys should do a catch and cook on the ice. Try something new.
We're horrible cooks.
What Auger holder is that
Polaris makes it. It's rock solid and integrates right into the snowmobile. snowmobiles.polaris.com/en-us/shop/accessories/storage-bags/2882799/

No, none of us do. The digital units Marcum makes are very good ice units. No display lag and lots of display options to choose from.
