Totally agree. And I'm actually selling MB and AMG.... But the glory days are over. To all of the people out there having a 6.2 or even a Black Series: Keep it and take care of it.
And naturally aspirated in best case….the 6,3 engine is a hell of a machine. My godfather drove the first CLS 63 from brand new until it had over 170k km on the clock, he still misses the car today.
I've been lucky enough to drive a C63 (6.2) with an Akrapovic exhaust, and a CLK63 Black Series, so I've had a taste of these engines. They are definitely the peak of modern Mercedes/AMG, imo. I'm glad you got to experience one, possibly the best variant of all!
1 part Crodino Biondo 1 part proper cold brew coffee 3 droplets each of Angostura Orange and bitter cocoa 1 slice of orange peel over ice You got non-alcoholic Negroni You're welcome :D
After owning 10 Benzes in a row, my move to Porsche couldn’t have come soon enough. But one I’d always lusted after was the V221 S65. Also, the W211 E55, with that monster supercharged engine, is an old favourite.
The SLS is undeniably the most iconic AMG, but for me it'll always be the SL65 BS that will hold the place as THE AMG in my heart. Would love to see you driving one And of course, awesome video as always!
Get one Luke! I have a W205 C63 and my next car will be a 911 GT3 RS or 992 GT3. If I had the money my perfect garage would be a flat 6 Porsche, V8 AMG, V10 R8 , V12 812
Just drove an 2019 AMG GTC 600HP 4L today and it was a superb driving experience with lots of emotion. Sounded familiar to this. Real AMG feeling. In the end it felt better to me than 992 GTS and 2023 RS3... the new cars are just trimmed to speed and performance with little to no soul left. Greets from Bavaria
WHAT A VIDEO!! I saw quite a funny video a while back was TGE tv and Archie and Vehicle Virgins where they were talking about how its getting so difficult to stay relevant in the youtube car scene with guys like Manny and co buying Chirons etc but then you get this guy whose trajectory which i have been following is so much more normal and feels more real but above all the quality of the Videos is why this is by far the BEST car channel for me ! Keep up the Good work Luke
Just lovely, I got to shoot a video back in 2012. When I saw a Roadster, at a dealership close to my house. I went and saw it. I was amazed with the size and steel brakes massive. Someday I would love to drive, or God forbid own one. Thank you for making the video.
Drove Mercedes exclusively for many years but when electronics became their operating systems I bought one and the entire electrical system conked out while on a family trip. Haven't been there since and don't plan on it. I can't imagine the love of a white SLR AMG. Triple that if I owned a GT3.
Even the "Standard" SLS is a blast to drive. Such an angry and alive car and so not Mercedes-ish. Love that Video and the Excitement, I have to do a call next week. 😛
@@carswithluke I've never driven the Black Series SLS myself, I just had the comparison to a 2014 GT3 RS the same day and same Road, and the SLS was more challenging all around and a little bit scary, but in a pretty good way. No car for fooling around, it's like a chainsaw from the 70s, if you don't have attention, it'll cost you a leg.
I have a 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan SE R-LINE Black. Looks and handles great in Sport mode. Turbocharged 2 liter 4 cylinder. Considering chipping the engine to pick up an extra 50 HP or so. A blast to drive on the back roads and mountain roads of southwest Virginia.
The C63 Black Series looks better without a wing, the SLS Black Series looks better with one. But this is probably the first example of an SLS Black Series without the spoiler I've ever seen.
I drove a lot of cars, such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, but truth be told, Mercedes SlS is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever driven. It has a strange feeling and a very nice sound.
Fantastic stuff. Your excitement driving that thing was contagious lol. Aside from maybe a Porsche flat six I don’t think anything beats the sound and feel of a screaming v8. It’s just an intoxicating song.
Super cool Luke! The only other AMG that I recall you liking was the G-Wagon...LOL Mad respect for using camera lenses that capture how low and wide the car really is!
This is my favorite Mercedes AMG of all time. It's the perfect embodiment of everything Mercedes and AMG. Stylish, elegant, timeless design coupled with an insane, big-ass AMG engine.
Now this is a cream machine! Fantastic video as usual, nailed my thoughts exactly on modern Mercedes haha! The videography and scenery, you're unmatched
I'm late to the party. The most replayed bit speaks volumes. You're now a coffee channel, Luke. 👀 That AMG is mental, the last downshifts as you were heading down the mountain towards the lake were MEAN. Absolutely MEAN. SLS is my favourite Mercedes design. SLR, W204 C63 BS and AMG GT are wonderful, modern Mercedes designs, but nothing comes close to the SLS in my opinion, and the BS somehow ups it one level. It's a crime we had to wait for 5 minutes straight to have you roll a window down. I don't know if this video inspired me to purchase an SLS BS, because there might be some financial issues here and there, but it definitely did inspire me to purchase Crodino and bring it to my favourite barista in town.
An actual 63 AMG! Love it Black Series, especially in the Stormtrooper look has always been one of my hidden favorites Would definitely love a video on a C63 Black Series back from 2013/2015
Have you had a chance to drive the GTR? It’s a bit different than the GT BS more than most realize. The sound is great and the steering is more playful rather than clinical feeling you get with the GT BS
Need more content Luke!!! A Friday night drive would be awesome! Btw, wanted to press the like btn so many times watching this only realising I've already done it lol. YT needs to implement some sort of a likeometer to give the users the chance to rate a video in more granularity, surely that would help feedback to the content creators in their analytics analyses.
.....a super nice car, but it looks like you brought a tank to the Gocart track...It might not be in its *right element* on super tight roads where 65º and 90º corners are constant on downward roads. I might be wrong, that has happened one time before :) Nice ride with a pleasant video. Thx!
areas where an SLS is way better than any other modern GT from Mercedes. Ergonomics, driving feeling, throttle response, engine sound, interior looks, steering feel ( so much better than any other mercedes....), ..It was engineered as a whole package....Wonderful balanced car....Honestly, and overall, considering its practicality, robustness, good quality, good looks, exciting driving, excellent chassis, it is probably one of the best cars in the world..very objectively...it was so well engineered in so many ways...

@@carswithluke Hi Luke hope your well. I was at Mercedes World in Surrey a few months ago and they had a identical car to this on display. It was a absolute beast ! Must be a incredible experience to drive looks beautiful in white too 👌
Seems like a truly emotional car. A car made for real car enthusiasts by real car enthusiasts... Something that become rarer every year sadly. I couldn't dream of a better video for my birthday !
I suggest that you should drive a C Black Series or a CLK Black Series or if you are able to find one a CLK DTM Edition they are even rarer then the CLK Black Series. When I saw your story post with the SLS BS standing in front of DTM Cars I went to sit on my balcony because I expected you to pass by. And well, you actually did. Little did I know though, that you made the post about 2-3 hours after you drove by (according to the time on your wristwatch in the video). So I was anxiously waiting for nothing 😀 I have a pristine W204 C63 Performance Pack Facelift with (almost) the same engine and I absolutely adore it, so the SLS is my grail car (next to the Carrera GT of course. Did you know by the way that the engines of both these cars come from the same chief engineer and share many similarities?). Anyway, thanks for this amazing video. And please make the post before the drive next time 😂
Amazing car !! But, in my opinion, the standard SLS has a little better sound. He is more roaring, but the Black Series is more interesting downshifts.
