    So I have been carrying the Big Idea Design bolt action pen for about four months now it has been my EDC for the last 4 months. I agree that this version of the pen is way to expensive for so little bonus. I backed the KS and spent $140 for the regular and the mini combined. The reason I love this pen so much is that it can literally fit over 900+ different refills. Which for me fits for my needs because I know I can literally pull any ink refill and have it fit with no problem. The one thing I love about EDC is you can carry what works for you and be totally happy with it.
    As always great video and I do appreciate your opinions and insights.

      It’s an OK pen but big idea Design has their prices all messed up. They are more expensive than all of the US made companies.

    I usually like your vids but I’m gonna have to disagree, now I do agree that version is overpriced but the normal bolt actions from big I are really good and I think they are slightly better than most simply for adjustability

  • @turnbasedtoddy7664
    @turnbasedtoddy7664 7 місяців тому +1

    I have to agree with you on their prices. I think big idea design prices are way off simply because they are made overseas when you can get a US made pen for less. If their pens were in the $60-$70 range, I think that would better suit them.

  • @migueloxamendi4284

    I've got to disagree. You missed the most important difference between the Big Idea Designs bolt and other pens: the pen adjusts to fit a wide range of refill sizes and shapes. The tactile turn is limited to the G2/Parker style refills.
    The collaboration is more expensive than the current $100, which is the same price as the Tactile Turn bolt action pen. YMMV if the upcharge for the unique etching and orange accents are worth the upcharge.

    • @turnbasedtoddy7664

      You missed the most important difference. One is made in China and one is made in America. The tactile turn has more titanium in it, is arguably better finished, and is made in America and still cost less than the big idea design. BID is a good brand but their prices are way off. Also how many people actually change what type of refill they use all that often? Most people have one or two that they stick with forever.

    I have 3-4 big idea design pens, and I have a titanium Tactile turn timascus bolt action pen which was around 120-130 the quality and feel of tactile is amazing, I have their magnacut rockwall too, another amazing piece. I'd spend 130$ with tactile 10/10 times before 150 on big idea design

    I'll stick with a 12 pack of Pilot G2's or a metal Zebra. Sharpies are good. Someones always wanting my pens, I'll give em away & share knowing I can restock easily. We use the red ink G2's all the time. Pilot makes limited edition metal G2's (I don't give those up). Ya gotta keep ur own special pen for yourself & a not so special buddy pen you don't mind losing along with a Sharpie in a pocket organizer.

    I've never owned a bolt action pen. At prices like that, this battalion member never will. I have two EDC pens: a Hoffman-Richter tactical pen that writes nicely, takes fairly common refills, and could likely gouge quite a trough in someone's head; and a Bic 3-color+pencil "Mom-pen" (I call them that; Mom was a teacher and used a 4-color version) that is great for lists, diagrams, and anything else where multiple colors are useful.

      Refyne EP1 in stainless steel costs 40$ which is still a lot compared to disposable pens, but I think it's a great price for a bolt action. You can get black PVD coating, which looks amazing. The quality is there, the price really shows that others are a total rip off.

    Great video. I do have the Big Idea Design Pocket Pro pen and the Mini Click pen. I really like those. But I'm considering the Tactile Turn pen as well, along with the other pens you displayed, like the Bastion Bolt Action. I also have the Urban Survival Gear Tiscribe Go Mini in titanium. That's an excellent pen. Probably my favorite of the pens I own.

    To each his own. I have the Big Idea Carryology bolt action you show here and the tactile turn. Personally I much prefer the light weight and slightly small size of the Big Idea. I got it for 10% off with coupon code. So maybe it was slightly more expensive, but again... Everyone has a different opinion and preference. That's why there are so many different styles 🤷🏼‍♂️. Still love your vids sir.

This pen will eat any cartridges you through at it let’s see the seamless one do that hahaha. Anyways opinions are why we have variety so keep putting out the vids.

  • @bighouse9524
    @bighouse9524 2 роки тому +8

    Why don’t you like it though lol? Because it’s short and light? That’s it? Titanium is supposed to be light. You shouldn’t have balled out on the limited edition and got a brass version. And if you want it longer just add one of the the multitude of long refills that it can take unlike the rest of the pens you have on the table there that only takes one kind of refill. This is my first review I have watched of yours and I must say this is bad advice. You are turning people away from a great product without giving a real reason as to why you don’t like it.

    In terms of writing, I think the solution is that you can put in any type of refill of your preference. I usually don't even bother about the included refill on any pen review because everyone has their own preference of refills.

    Those are some Gucci writing implements. I prefer the Pilot G-2 because it writes well enough and I won't be upset when I lose it. Bought a o-light bolt action pen with a flashlight built in and gave it away 30 seconds after I got it. It just seems like too much trouble looking for refills and having to babysit them.

    I carry Zebra tactical pens in my edc and evacuation kits . It pressurizes regular cartridges each time you click the pen. I am pretty sure it would have won the contest against the Fisher Space Pen years ago because it doesn't need a gas filled cartridge. I actually remember when NASA had the contest for the pen and I bought the original one long time ago. Those are really nice-looking pens but out of my price range.

    Everything they make is waaaay overpriced, and gimmick driven. Titanium isn't a new metal, and it doesn't cost anything to run an automatic lathe. Titanium is neither precious, nor rare, and they aren't engineers at skunkworks building the SR-71 in 1959, they are a bunch of dorks making a damn pen. Damn, I hate that company. Their big idea is to rip you off.
