I was fortunate to take Iyengar Yoga for several years and then the pandemic happened and classes were closed. I have been trying to find an instructor I could easily understand and follow. Thank you so much, I am starting to feel the power, strength and calmness in my body that only yoga brings.
Hi Kim, when the time is right the teacher appears. Nice to meet you and so pleased you are feeling the effects through the body/mind. Yoga is always our opportunity to be with ourselves in a reflective way. Enjoy your practice! 🙏🏻
Thank You very much. As a mentor teacher (Junior-2) I am in a constant search for examples to show. There are tons of videos but your is clear and well balanced 🙌🏼 Greetings from Moscow / Russia
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! It is rare to find clearness of practice and teaching these days. Beginner classes are always great even for more advanced practitioners... Namaskar 🙏🏻
🙏🏻 the truth is we are always beginners. When we’re open to hearing and seeing from a new perspective there is so much available we don’t know we don’t know. Thanks for joining me and sharing your thoughts. It’s good for everyone!
Such excellent instruction! I haven't gone into a ton of your videos but I'm hoping that they won't typically nclude a music background. I really like customizing my yoga practice with music that I'm feeling in the moment.
I’ve been a student of Iyengar at my local studio for 18 years and have missed it so much since the pandemic. Finding your channel this week has made me so happy. Your teaching style plus the Iyengar method are what I love the most. Time to get into a pose and stay there, feel it. I’ve decided to start with the beginning classes and move on. I hope you continue to create more classes. Thank you so much.
Thanks again Ester! I have been teaching on line since the beginning of the pandemic and will continue to reach out to to help our fellow students have a place to do their practice and quiet their mind. Happy to hear from you! xx
So nice parighasana version I imagining is a hybrid between parsvakonasan a and parighasana Also this setubandha chair inversion is so yummy Really the props are my favorite candy They make practice possible soft and gentle Thank you Cathy for creating those diamonds in our everyday life Namaste Athens Greece
Hi Lola, yes both poses work to inform each other. Love your poetry in practice. Yes, nice to have the props help us be there. Where the depth of yoga takes place. Namaste
Hi Kathy, I did Iyengar Yoga for Beginners Part 1 and 2 on my Day 1 and Day 2 since I got to know your UA-cam. I really enjoyed it and find it very educational and good for ordinary people like me who loves doing yoga but want to learn properly for my own body. However after doing part 1 on the 1st day, I got upperback muscle ( right side) below scapulla,un comfortable, like over stretched kind of feeling. Not sure what I did wrong.
Hi there, difficult to know what you did that caused that. Please tell me more about yourself, your body condition, any chronic conditions, operations, general challenges in mobility and strength.Have you been practicing prior or a beginner. Often when one begins, things like this may present so let me know more and we can sort it out. 🙏🏻❤️
Thank you Kathy! I've completed part I and II now. Very addictive, I really enjoy your clear delivery and easy to follow instructions. The twists on the chair feel fantastic.
Thanks for the feedback! I'm thinking about another class for beginners but haven't decided on the topic yet. perhaps for stiff, not so flexible beginners. What's your thought? Let me know what you think would be helpful after this series. 😊
I'm not very stiff, although my upper back shows typical deskjockey issues. I would love something focused on improving blood circulation. I like the upside down poses, twists and everything that gets the blood moving.
@@DesaYogiIyengarYoga This beginners series right here is for stiff, inflexible beginners already. What about a beginning series to work towards Hanumanasana which to me isn't about the pose but about the life that happens on and off the mat when it's able to be reached and held well. I know of a rather large community of inflexible people who would love to learn and practice it. For me it's the back leg work in Parsvottanasana and getting the hips even..
@@DanielleDeutschTV Hi Daniella, I love your enthusiasm! Parsvottasasana is a beginner pose and absolutely essential to learn the action of the hip and both front and back legs. First and foremost having a strong standing pose practice will help one to be prepared when the time comes. As we often use support in Iyengar when needed, practicing toward this geometry becomes easier. Hanumanasana is not a beginner's pose and I do see your point. We all want to move forward in our practice. Knowing what actions and poses prepare our bodies for more difficult poses is essential to the Iyengar sequencing and systematic approach. All bodies are different and must be honoured all along the way. Please look for me to address this in future classes. Namaste, :)
Thanks for the great sessions. I’ve been doing Iyengar yoga for about a year, a few times a week, but find I still have a lot of difficulty with the sitting poses. I have very limited mobility when stretching forward. Forget about touching the toes. Frustrating, but perhaps it’s just a practice-makes-perfect situation.
Hi Kyle, when I started 30 years ago I was so still I couldn't even sit up straight. I understand how it can be frustrating 😊 Actually, next week we are publishing a beginner class for beginners who are stiff. Stay tuned ♥️
I am getting back into hatha yoga after my C- section and L5 - S1 disc bulge, I am just wondering if most asanas are safe for me. I have been following your beginner classes. I am very keen to pursue a full course.
Hi Sakshi, thanks for your note. When was your c-section and disc bulge? You say you have been doing some classes without any problems…. That’s great. Tell me where the bulge is to the side front or back. Make space, elongating and getting circulation is always good. Please just tell me a bit more in case there are certain positions to be more careful with. Then I can guide you more exactly. Keep up the good work. You also must build strength through the back to help with support. ♥️♥️🙏🏻
If you want to learn the basics of Iyengar Yoga, this is the 18-lesson course I've created for beginners, seasoned practitioners to go back to the basics, and teachers to get inspirations. app.namastream.com/desa-yogi/product/41092/about
Happy you reached out with your comment. Try adding more height under both sitting bones, while making room on the side for your calf and foot to fold back. Maybe you have still ankles, a past injury or the knees are stiff. No problem, just raise yourself up on several folded blankets, blocks, bolster or a combination of those until you are in a comfortable seated position.
The black line translasion on the film is covering you'r moovments. So you can see nnothing you are dooing so its hard to follow, its too fast. Besides that, i really liked you teaching yoga
Hi thank you for your feedback. I've turned off the "play by default" of subtitles. And you can turn off the subtitles by clicking the "cc" in the lower right corner. But I think you might be referring to having to have translated subtitles on while practicing? My editor is helping me find a solution. As for the pace. Thanks for the feedback I'll definitely be mindful of that.
If you want to practice Iyengar Yoga in a systematic way at your own pace, you can check out my online programs here 👉🏽 desayogi.podia.com/

Hi Anika, thanks for your comments. The only time I have used music was due to background disturbance. You will find 99% without music.
Enjoy 🙏🏻
