@@Cormano980 I don't know how you review a game in a genre that you're supposed to be qualified/competent to review and have not heard of it. This is basic gaming history of the genre he is reviewing. The last game in the Heroes franchise was only 2015 - it's not that old. The broader franchise has been around since 1986 - we're talking gaming roots here. Honestly, I think a gaming journalist reviewing a specific genre of games should be knowledgeable about the history of said genre. They are supposed to be experts, maybe not in PLAYING the game but at least in the knowledge of it. This person has neither. I don't know how you review a spiritual successor to a game franchise while not even knowing about the franchise the game is succeeding. It's like reviewing Pillars of Eternity and not mentioning Baldur's Gate, or reviewing Bloodstained and not mentioning Castlevania, or reviewing Yooka-Laylee and not mentioning Banjo-Kazooie, or reviewing Mighty No. 9 and not mentioning Mega Man, or reviewing The Messenger and not mentioning Ninja Gaidan, and on and on.

What is good or bad about them? Do units earn experience? Can they be upgraded? Does terrain affect combat? Is there flanking? Can one army reinforce another?
🙃🙃🙃 Was thinking the same when watching this. I appreciate that it's difficult to make review videos, but the video was just spending time talking and saying nothing of substance
how do those tactical battles work Every unit has an abilty, and every unit generates mana for spellcasting, but the amount of spell options and how powerful they are depends on their weilder. Do units earn experience? No. The weilder that controls the units does gain experience though, and when it goes up in levels it makes all of the units it's controlling stronger. Can they be upgraded? Yes, with gold and occasional other resources, if you have the required building. Does terrain affect combat? Yes. There's impassable terrain and elevation. Higher units deal more damage, take less damage, and have a longer ranger than lower units. Is there flanking? Also yes. As well as zones of control and attack of oppurtunity. Can one army reinforce another? Yes, with the caveat that maximum army size can be exremely limited until you upgrade weilder's command skills.

Heroes of Might and Magic rip off, however with somehow much worse graphics, how is this possible, if it was with no 18bit graphics I might have give it a go.

Actually, the graphics level is pre- HOMM1. I like pixel art for what it is, but Songs of Conquest I find is so blocky it makes the map so hard to read and spoils the gameplay. Just too pixelated for its own good. Also, there seems far less variety in unit types compared to HOMM series. Fewer factions, too, when I thought the whole point of pixel art was that you could design more units way faster than in 3D.
