Just a tip if you don't want to see the movement range all the time: when you hold Alt (which highlights items on the map) you will also see your movement range. Super useful!
This is a fantastic game! I never played the might and magic games and yet I still love it. I think there is a lot to like about Songs of Conquest. Thanks for the tips there were a couple of things I didn't realise. One tip I'd like to add is that building multiple marketplaces gives both a discount on buying and a bonus to selling materials. There was nothing which suggested this in the tooltips, though it might be in the codex and I never noticed. But it certainly is an easy one to miss, so I thought I'd mention it :)
Gold is King though, with enough markets you can buy any other resource without much trouble, specially late game when money isn't a problem after occupying an enemy town.
Just downloaded the game from Steam and pleasantly surprised that it's working on my Mac (Big Sur os)! Just started the opening campaign and found your into video to be super helpful. You've earned a new sub... and looking forward to watching more as I learn the game! Cheers!
Thanks for your insight, it´s really enjoyable. To be honest i´m stuck in the second campaign right now and wanted to look up some practical tips, which you provided, so thanks a bunch.
Time stamps make it so easy to use this video as you go through the game, thank you so much. As far as the game I'm super surprised at how much effort is they put in. I had a great time with my first few skirmishes and I hope they do well enough to add expansions in the future.
One thing I wished you mentioned was "Town upgrades" and how they are done and what the limits are. For instance, can any settlement be upgraded to a level 5 city (the one shown most of the time in this video)? Other than that, very helpful video, good work!
So helpful, I wish you could tell more about things we are collecting how to understand it better and what matters most Stage 4 of 1st campaign is so hard still failing to succed after hours and hours trying my best to beat it
Ironically, Heroes IV is my favourite of the series. It is gorgeous, I like fielding the generals in battle, I adore the art and love the music, and the multifaceted magic system is very much to my taste. With hidden spells and classes depending on your heroes specializations. Heroes II is my second favourite, that old school pixel art, the bright colours, the fantasy music. It was nostalgic even when I played it for the first time, I love nearly all of the old game in so many ways. Heroes III however is in that weird spot of graphics and artstyle I struggle with, I find the factions unbalanced as hell, and while there are so many different units they are all sort of the same. This game however doesn't quite feel like Heroes III for me, the artstyle is far better, the factions are far more distinct. And as my favourites are Warlock/Dungeon/Chaos I think I'll go with Arleon. They seem to me be a Knight/Warlock or Life/Chaos faction, as the fey are less D&D faeries and more vengeful celtic spirits feasting on human flesh. It also gives the rest of the faction a nice tone, the mounted knights are less paladin and more Mordred the betrayer.
After several hours in, i wanna mention that game gets really boring on a global map. As it now the best way to play is a duel, because AI tends to send swarms of wielders at our base. There is also a certain tempo we have to follow. If we fail to keep up with this tempo we will lose. Which also means i fail to see a reason to build techology upgrades buldings, because game will end faster, than effect of upgrades would become useful. Other than that, the game is great, i hope for more factions though, Arleon is fun, but Fay theme kinda ruins it for me. Loth is cool, but really straight forward. Rana is just an instant no. Barya... ok i guess. I hope the developr would reconsider this behavior of constant pressure by AI, because it gets old and boring really fast.
Rana an instant..no???.. they’re the only faction I really love. I think the need for research varies by playstyle - for Rana it’s absolutely necessary to increase unit caps in order to have viable armies
What I love about this game is how the different units really feels different with special abilities etc. however the game is less accessible than homm due to this as well as the magic system. Having so many «cogs» that work together makes the game hard when you start out but makes it soo much more fun to play in the long run.
If you've played HOMM3 and HOMM2 you're 84.9% in. If you've also played King's Bounty you're +10% on top of that. The only thing really apart from other games "of the same ilk" is the magic system. You can cast everything from the start. You just don't have the essence(s) generation to do it. Which means spells are much more accessible, but kind of weaker ... until they are OP. Game's pretty good in QoL department. They took some of HOMM3 popular moding QoL ideas and implemented them. Also the AI isn't terrible. Auto battle is useful in saving time and if you position your troops correctly for the auto battle that improves the odds of not losing troops unnecessarily. Also good advices in the video. Though [Alt] is the only key you need.
Does tearing down buildings to make space for others become a tactically important aspect someway down the road? I feel like f.e. deconstructing a quarry which I "only" build to be able to recruit Armored Riders, to make space for a Rally Point, is a thing to consider later in the game.
Will be playing this and the new Caster of Magic Warlords this season. The Dynamic duo . I assume the talk here of "rushing dragons" or "upgrading your existing army" will be much more even once players become better at the game. I assume if your really going ham like some homm iii players do in PVP you could bypass the slow creep to super powerful and just go right to the goods early and then leverage that power to then go back and upgrade your other standard troops. So excited to snag this one up and start playing the 1st campaign tonight!
Is there no option to restart a level from the initial state? I'm stuck on mission 3 of the first campaign and I got attacked by two factions at once and it just ends my campaign. All of my saves have it so that these two enemies are right on top of me :(
Is there a way in the settings to turn the antialising off for the pixels? I would play if graphics were sharper honestly. When I watch this video my eyes bleed.
You need to be very stupid or careless about the game if you dont touch campaign at all. Doesn't matter if it's HoMM, SoC or any other game that has a campaign.
it's a reverse racist game - there's no adequate european male heroes at all I remember that in heroes of might magic 3 there was a perfect balance between males and females, races etc. But here when I try to find a hero which can represent my personality I find none (only old guy or a fat guy). There are no positive male characters in campaign at all, no choicesl - you must play female character which has african girlfriend, why so ? is it LGBT/SJW game ? The main auditory for such game are males (mostly Europeans) - have you ever been to Heroes of Might and Magic, Age of Wonders or Disciples community - females there are rare guests and are remembered as legends for decades, and primarly consists of Poland, Germany, Post-USSR countries.
The devs are Swedes so it's to be expected that the game will be ultra politicly correct and lgbtdfjos++-+. It's pretty annoying and they shouldn't have tried that hard because it's in your face.
Just letting you know, I was not planning on buying the game until I read your comment as I don’t have a lot of time to play. But the fact that y’all are so mad about this made me want to support them even more :) thank you for the game recommendation! 🖤💅🏻🏳️🌈

oh wow I didn't know there was a co-op beta! This game is going to end up being a masterpiece.
Also talk of community mod support... This game will last me for years I think...
Will I be able to play through the campaign in coop?
This is fantastic news!
I’m mildly skeptical but I think it has an insane amount of potential

This is might and magic but just the good parts.
Has anyone found a good way to quickly toggle between settlements? I have a hard time remembering where they are on the map each turn.

Yes there is..just choose new game and you can choose from the latest campaign
Maybe a dubbel click feature could be implemented, as an opption, to not skipp the text but skipp the movement?
Some things you Will Learn when you play the songs And some you Will Learn by playing multi
I’m the opposite, I’ve never ever played a skirmish in any Heroes game yet played 1000+ hours of alllll the campaigns

You should have stayed playing as the tutorial campaign faction. Unfortunately there's a campaign spoiler here regarding the Barony of Loth.
Never use an apostrophe to pluralize anything, ever. The plural form of RPG is simply RPGs.
Shortcut for cityscroll is ctrl-tab. So inconvenient.
