I'm so happy to see this loco after seeing so many teasers about it. I don't even care that it's not available to the general community - I'm just glad to see it. And you are so right: the fact that Caledonia Works had so little source material for this loco and still managed to produce something so stunning and realistic despite it never existing in real life speaks volumes to his skill as a modeler. You should both be proud of this loco - you for having the idea and envisioning it (I don't consider myself a "Tankie" since I don't watch the Thomas & Friends TV series but I do still enjoy reading the original Railway Series books by the Rev. W. Awdry and as much as I love Awdry's work he NEVER made an original loco and even if he did I doubt it would have ever held a candle to this wonderful loco and it's realistically crafted history - you even had a whole rebuild worked into the story!) and Caledonia Works for making it a reality. I look forward to seeing this loco more in the future and seeing just what kind of character he'll have in the series and how he'll get along with everyone on the DR.
This engine is superb! Such craftsmanship! It has an excellent sound board to it too. I sure wish my models had something like that 😆👍 It is not for pubic ownership digitally, but could it at all be built as a one off physical model in OO gauge or possibly even O gauge? (I can’t build it anytime soon but I was just curious if I was allowed to?)
Dark DJ Productions Then I shall craft one. I lack the components for now but it is such a great engine I thought I’d see if I could add it to my build list. I’m one for alternate history, you see. I’ve been planning to scratch build Leader classes and 2-8-2 locomotives to fit the narrative of my locomotive works. When I get around to building 1202 it probably will have custom cut frames and other parts if I can’t splice them from something else.
Inspired by the Mountain Class engines at Romney Hythe & Dymchurch miniature guage line but mostly the brainchild of Anthony Sims for the design we see here.isnt he magnificent?
I just had a thought - where this loco is larger than a Raven A2 are there any British turntables in TS that are capable of turning 1202 around or will you have to use turntables from the US to turn it around? Or do you plan on having 1202 face one way and just run him backwards and forwards down the line?
With Rick(1202) at his longest i just about fits on a British turntable. however, due to the collision boxes on the turntables in game it won't turn. So tom has said that in universe he does fit, just that it can never be shown unfortunatley
The model looks epic dude. Your brain-child and Chris' handiwork have come together brilliantly. There is one question I'd like to ask. If you reply, I shall ask it. Otherwise I shall leave it. (And no, it's not going to be "Can I buy/have it?")
This engine look impressive this is the first br mountain class i ever see,is like the engine have be built in Calédonie Steam work in secret first Time then the engine was équipe whet tug boat Whistler .
Dark: The model is not for sale
Everyone: Can I buy it?
Looking forward to Rick's arrival in the series :)
Rick can be purchased from me for, like, £2,000,000.

Rick/DR1202 vs Barry, anyone?

I hope you're planning some big industry to connect the railway to with the new expansion to justify all these heavy freight locos...

I said it before and I'll say it again, the whistle sounds just like the steamboat Natchez in New Orleans.
i think it's actually the same sound effect
Just joined the Patreon group for this. Keep up the amazing work lads!
Thank you!
Anytime. #DarkRailwayForever
A really amazing locomotive
Rick is so massive that he causes frame drops.
what will barry say when he finds out he's not the biggest anymore?
I thought Brian was the biggest ;)
@@mattevans4377 you've mistaken biggest for fattest :p
'Ah for fook sake' I'd imagine
is it going to feacture in the future dark railway series as id love to see an episode of it with barry and his funny attitude
well it was built in 1980, so as soon as we reach that point he'll deffo be a part of the railway

If someone were wanting to kit bash a model of this engine in 00 or 0 scale, I would be supremely impressed!

Big fella. Very big fella.
also what is the TE on 1202 (in present rebuilt form)
50,000 lbs of tractive effort
pretty powerful then
hella powerful
indeed, Rick is a very chonky boi
Rick is such a unit
What is the cardenien class?
You should be a locomotive designer.
That’s a amazing!
Where did you get the idea from?
A random idea or inspired?

Are you still going to include this train in the drs?
Yes.

If YanPictures or other locomotive builder users saw this I wonder if he’d make Rick in SFM
would i be allowed to make a model of it for my 3d printer for my model railway?
i can sent you one when its done if you want to
If you really want to, sure.
Good luck dude!
Epic.

you didn't really explain why we can't purchase it though?
Because it was a private commision for him.
really Video good
Rick look like a GSR class 800
He does a bit because of the boiler and smokebox, doesn't he?
What is this game for
Was there a model made of the original, pre-rebuild design? Or was that just an edited picture?
How much money did ya spend to commission your masterpiece to the maker?
What's her top speed? 50mph?
65 or 70ish
@@DDJP Ahh I thought the smaller drivers would have an effect but it seems not.
Smaller driving wheels are better for tractive force and for climbing hills, starting heavy trains, whilst larger drivers are for speed.
@@DDJP Sorry I should have been more clear. I thought the drivers looked small but I guess Rick is just that chonky lol.

He would likely give Barry a run for his money
DR1202 is much more powerful. His tractive effort is around 54,500 pounds of force.
