Just like the NER A2s, the biggest problem was using inside bearings on the back axel. Being under the huge firebox, they tended to overheat. Most of the chassis and front end are traced from a Star Class. The Tender holds the same 3500 Gallons as a normal Churchward Tender but, the design team thought it looked a bit silly so designed a longer one.
After the Great Bear was withdrawn in 1924 the tender was used for some of the 4-4-0 counties and , later , saints . After that I don’t know what happened to the tender , it either was withdrawn or rebuilt
What a wonderful model! I've never been a big GWR fan, but I've always liked The Great Bear because of her size and uniqueness. Same reason why I particularly like the Lickey Inclines Big Bertha or even your Rick. Though I will say I half expected you to just call her a fat fuck with how you kept calling her chunky XD

It was documented that 111 had on one occasion travelled as far as Newton Abort, but no further into the west country.
