I like how open minded she is. She is open minded enough to look into other religions, the dao de jing is a taoist classic and even most Taoists in Malaysian know the existence of this classic. But she still is true to her own religion. She was such an intelligent woman. Her films forces you to see things from a different perspective. Its so sad that many Malaysian dont even give local films a chance which are sometimes so much better than overseas films.
I love how she's casually shared some ideas from the quran and wisdom from the prophet SAW to everyone with different religious background :) this act is a great example of a true muslim
Her last sentence gave me goosebumps!! It's damn true what she's saying. Muslim army fight to defend our religious and sacrifice themselves with no reward, yet they are so humble and never felt great or show off their fight for a big talk. They are so pure and had never claim any recognition from our prophet at all. It's totally different with people nowadays. They do small things and highly demand for recognition. Too greedy for the title.. suddenly i miss her so much and came here to listen her awesome advice.. 😢
its kinda pararel with a philosofical statement i read somewhere "its it the virtue of a thinker to take a step back and see thing from a wider point of view". soory couldnt recall the source
I miss her so much, even though I never met her, and I'm just a guy who lives in Sweden. She was, or is, such a wonderful human being, and the world is a lesser place without her. Her films have inspired me in so many ways, all from my everyday life to my writing. I miss you, Yasmin! Thank you for everything!
I had that one chance to say 'Hi' to her once at a mamak, but was too intimidated to do so by her aura of greatness. Now, I regret not doing so till today.
I wish she is still alive to see how much change has happened in Malaysia. Miss you, yasmin. Malaysia is so blessed to have you as one of her citizens.
Yasmin, you will always be the best. In the short time you've been with us, I thank you for sharing brilliant moments which have touched me and my family. You made it real and you made us love life. I will miss you, Yasmin.
I would strongly recommend young people to listen to her of course speaking without reading the notes .. she exclude charm, intelligent and humor the important ingredients of part of speech.
Leysha is a big star today ⭐️! Blessed to work with her when I was doing a cameo role in Keluarga Baha Don Season 3!! Thanks Yasmin for seeing the charisma in Leysha!!! ♥️
Pesanan terakhir tentang kebaikan di hati... Hati yang baik akan buat tiap sesuatu dari dalam & dari luar jadi manfaat pada diri sendiri & orang lain... Terbaik al-marhumah Yasmin Ahmad😊
This vid came across my suggestion after 12 years. I just love how true her words are, how widely she see and observe. Thanks for inspiring me, in your movie, and even with your own words.
My life is getting sweeter and sweeter when seeing we have a lot of super² good Malaysians in TEDx. Indian.. Chinese.. Oh.. Life is going so beautiful. 😍😍
Sigh, really a rare gem she was as a fellow artist. And a very enlightening advice too. Sometimes art is not about making all this fantastical fiction that "oohs" and "aaahs" people. Sometimes art is about retelling the important things that's happening around us now.
Yasmin was on the same stage as I was some 12years ago.The topic for us was something like this "How important is Advertisment in Business?" She took to stage before myself. She was invited to share her experience n talent ,why that all her every advertisement created by her makes the product sales hit high? I was surprised by her act n presentation from the moment she stood speaking to the invited guests n participants during that event. Here's what she delivered in her speech if I remembered all. "Yes I had been good making successful advertisements . I will only say about advertisement just for 5mins. I m no more producing advertiments in the future! Successful advertisements are readily making the people draws their money from their pockets to buy the products no matter good or bad products!" I really salute to her honesty as a talented genius artist !Yasmin I missed you so much.I admire your talents .RIP.I love you .
What a wonderful woman, truly an inspiration to all aspiring young artists out there. Her loss is a great one to the film industry. May she rest in peace :)
Thank you for uploading this. I realllly do miss her, she is sooo humble and sooo funny, spontaneos... I am malay and my hubby is chinese, juz like her....when she said her husband is Apek, i smile coz i used to say that too... :) Al-Fatiha kak Yasmin, semoga rohmu di cucuri rahmat.....
Only after she left us did I know how deep and soulful Yasmin was. Its no wonder Allah has taken her much too soon. Innalillahi wainna ilaihi rojiuun. May Allah put her in Jannah amongst the Righteous. Aamiin.
Al-Fatiha, my prayers goes out with unconditional love. Thank you for sharing your love, your soul, your essence of life to us. We love u more and forever.
Tuberose for you Yasmin. I should have said how much I respected you and your films and thank you for sharing the same space at the mamak stall. I just felt so small next to you. Rest In Peace.
And it's 2018 (already 6 years after I wrote my comments above, now with wife and my 2 kids) comes to rewatch this Yasmin Ahmad speech to motivates me.. As long as this video gives positive energy to people InsyaAllah your "Pahala/ Amal Jariyyah" is always on Yasmin Ahmad! Amin YRA!

No Yasmin is still yet to come. I use her speech for my self motivation. To be bigger and responsible.

I imagine Yasmin Ahmad n Mamat Khalid brainstorming new films up there somewhere. With song lyrics written by Loloq. Now wouldn't that be a riot!
