"Your money is not yours until you spend it". What a motto. First one gotta earn it. For most people, this will consume their whole lifetime just to get by.
For some who may think only those who have money can retire n travel, aim for ten countries instead of 100 like yusuf, it is still a beautiful goal to set instead of doing nothing about it. Set goals and go asean first. Then go somewhere further as finance n health allows. He said about his interest is travel. He also mentioned about not to be too attached with work n retired too old. Some of ur interest may not cost as much as his traveling. Campervan pun jadilah😂.. Be positive and set goals.
i wish i met Yusuf 40 years ago to learn about early retirement. though managed to travel to only 50 countries including Antarctica with Yusuf last Dec. this man is such an inspiration.
Great to finally see the charismatic Yusuf on TEDx!! I was working for Shell Malaysia too for 19 years and finally retired last year, partly under Yusuf’s influence 🤣🤣 Yusuf once chaired a committee in Shell to investigate the life expectancy of Shell staff who retired at the government-mandated age, the outcome of the internal investigation is probably what opened his mind & heart - that the average Shell retirees lived up to 8 years only after the fact 😢
Yes, that event drove home the inverse corelation between year of retirement and length of life after retirement. The later you retire, the shorter your lifespan after retirement, and thus, the earlier you retire, the longer your lifespan. But that's another story for another time.
This video popped up on my feed and I love everything he said. So so insightful and I feel so refreshed with his perspective. In my mid 40s now and can’t wait to prepare for my second phase of life
Wow! Uncle Yusuf, love your speech, so inspiring. But again, some investments are not having the same graphs like Amazon, i think thats life, and just by listening to your sharing is so mesmerized, you are a man of great stories and looking forward to more stories from you 😊 thank you.
He is inspiring but witty at the same time and the most important thing is, I have learned a few new things today. Definitely need to do some adjustments in my life.
Most of India is poor but yet they are happy imagine what happens if they had lot of money. Yet there are people who work all their lives with good energy and health because work keeps them rich.
A man of many adventures and achievements. If more Malay Malaysian are achievers in their respective field like our friend here, Malaysia will really be ‘boleh’.

Nobody know "LIFE IS SHORT" until an illnesses occur or towards end of life. Not everybody is as lucky as you as now you are telling people your history. A long of people living mouth to mouth and day to day.😮😮
😇💓 what more can I say...💞 I learnt it from people in my life..who worked hard...but had to leave ( Dr Michael Simon John Butterworth@Mohd Isa Abdullah) as He had planned. Everyone has their story. Yours Sir is so interesting and I salute you! very inspiring ❤🔥
All about money… he can do what he did because he has the money to do so. Most of us will just live unremarkable dull lives with the kind of money we have
Not true. I was just an honest salaried man working an ordinary day job for 30 years. 😇. But I dont drink Highbucks coffee. I passed the Marshmallow test. And there are so many ways to travel for free. You just need to look harder.
Yes. I have one trip to the Falklands and South Georgia this October 2024, and one to Antarctica in Dec 2024. Contact me for details on how you can join us.
I think he retired too late to be able to gain much wisdom from life, apart from dispersing financial advice. Or maybe he traveled too much, leaving little time to examine life, a stark contrast to Socrates who never traveled outside of Athens. 😂
Kejadah apa plak tulisan cina mewakili bahasa kebangsaan Malaysia? Nak tarik audien Malaysia baca atau tengok sepatutnya maklumkan pada administration TED Bahasa Kebangsaan Malaysia bukan guna tulisan Cina.
Its easy to say and do all that he said when you have loads of $$$ in the bank. For the average man on the street who has to grapple with daily life, struggling to make ends meet, even to exist is already a challenge in itself.. 🫣🤔

Everybody thinks its all about money. Its NOT. Money helps of course, but you need to be a little clever.
Mind to share the expenses breakdown on the trip?
Live life, dont just exist!
Thank you for sharing.

But, i dont get the spent your child’s inheritence part…
Hahaha, that means no need to leave them your earnings, spend it on yourself … for when you die, it would have become their inheritance.

What you said is the absolute truth. Many of us would like to do many things but we live mouth to mouth on a daily basis
Luck is a myth. You need to make your own luck. But you have to pass the Marshmallow test.
Totally in agreement with you, make your own luck and Insyaallah it will work out.@@YusufHashim
@@YusufHashimcan you please explain what is this marshmallow test?
Hi Yusof,
Good talk.

It is not true. He invested some of his income and diverse his portfolio probably since he was young. We could too if we did it in our 20s.
life is short to be negativity
Can you include me in your travels

😂So what if you travel all over the world, or travel the universe????
British climber George Mallory famously said, "Because it's there," when he was asked why he climbed Everest. 😊

You just need to rise above the average. Only you can make it happen.
He is born plain like us too. Why not just take advice and improvise along with our life journey? Duh.
