What would you want to be included in a new Superman game? What would make it perfect in your mind? As always, thanks for watching and all of your support!
This game is a MUST play on Xbox 360. The 360 version is significantly more polished than the PS2 version, and fixes a lot of the issues that the other versions have.
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp yes i can also vouch it is much better on 360! The graphics have more fidelity and flare, and the combat and physics feel better as well.
@@Pahricida its not. But the final boss is a tornado. And the game has no story. You just robots and aliens all the time. Until you come across a boss. And then you fight robots and aliens again
Nothing will ever be as bad as Superman 64. Superman Returns is dare I say fun, until you realize you are limited to fighting the same robots and Aliens over and over again.
this game has the best flight control scheme and controls of any game still to this day. the control layout for a superman game was perfected here. this game is the perfect template for a superman game just needs a massive budget and time. if the next superman game doesnt use these flight controls and power control layout its already a failure. they did an amazing job with no budget and time, one of the best control schemes ever.
The flight controls were fun. The rest of the game was good but repetitive. It just needed more variety and Metropolis needed to be more detailed and "alive".
What I don't get is how we haven't had a new version of this in this generation of consoles. Sure, I could beat up someone in Injustice, but this is what I think we all really want. Let us fly!
i have the 360 version its alot better looking and its the only good and only superman game. only problem was you vouldnt just chill and fly around you hade to manage the citys hp bar non stop
i purchased a xbox360 in 2022 And ordered the game offline jus to play this. Superman is my favorite superhero ‘ he has god Like abilities what’s not to like. it’s the only openworld superman game so i still enjoyed playing it
Rinse and repeat isn't unique to this game. GTA Online managed to become a larger than life phenomenon by having players replaying the same basic mission structure over and over again. No matter what the DLC is based on, the missions are the same. Purchase a business, meet the new character(s), log into a computer from your office, select a mission, drive to location, kill a bunch of dudes, retrieve an item, bring it back to your office, receive payment. What's even more insulting is many of the same locations are used over and over again despite the game having a decent size map with several locations that have never been part of a DLC. Superman Returns was an ambitious attempt to deliver the closest thing to an open world Superman game. Unfortunately it suffered from a lot of problems that prevented it from being the definitive Superman game it could have been.
6 HOURS?!?! this is a 5 hour game... Fight the same bosses 4-5 times?! you fight the same boss twice for everyone, possibly 3 times but 4-5 times? Hell no
Worst boss fight in gaming history that I’ve played - Metallo. ONLY way to hurt him is throwing cars which get knocked out of your hand or exploded before you can even reach him WITH NO CHILL. it’s like speeding on a highway with a spoon balancing an egg out of your window. Worst than Dark Souls.
@@batmanvsuperman_ Metallo is super easy though... throw a car, speed fly behind a building so he can't zap you. rinse and repeat, that's it lol. he's more focused on destroying buildings than fighting Superman.
@@BeefnStewGames He’s SUPPOSED to be super easy. Every car in the area gets destroyed before you can reach it or in your hand at best. Soon as you find one intact, enemies target you and blow it up. It’s like running carrying a house of cards
@@batmanvsuperman_ he doesn't destroy cars that are behind buildings, cars in the general area he's in, sure but not behind the buildings he's attacking. not only that but light poles also do the same amount of damage when thrown at Metallo lol

Great discussion. I agree that there were a lot of great ideas here and I'm grateful that we have at least one free roaming Superman game, but the game just feels totally unfinished. Combat wasn't fun, the city health bar gets really monotonous and it all just feels empty. I suspect this game might have had its production halted early. I'd love to see a more developed version of it.
Thanks for watching! And agreed, would love to see a more fleshed out and complete version. Apparently the 360 version of this game is superior so I may need to check that out
@@PixelShaun Ah I played both back in the day and owned the 360 version and you're not missing much imo. Graphics were definitely a bit better and sharper but it was the same boring game imo.
This game had great flight mechanics on the 360 back in the day. It’s just a shame the original concept got swept under the rug. I remember seeing conceptual art that had some elements of the film but with an expanded story that included Braniac and Metallo in addition to Lex Luthor as the villains. From what I recall WB ultimately nixed the idea and the game was significantly watered down as a result.
I remember seeing an early preview for this game in EGM or something and being really excited we might get a great Superman game, like Spider-Man 2 had been. Obviously we still could, now seems like a great time! 👍
It is funny that this game is more fitting for SnyderVerse Superman than for Superman Returns one. Also I love sort of ying yang of it with Superman Shadow of Apocalips, a zig for every zag. Balanced power level vs you are so strong there is health bar for an entire city (and if you never stop playing you Will lose in the end because it doesn't restore and you can in no way repair it!) and you can actually never die only briefly knocked out. Also Superman Returns REALLY sells why being Superman is only fun for first 5 minutes, especially Superman with super senses that enable him to hear entire huge city-island. Sure, the other reason is also because it is an older game where they just couldn't make gameplay as addictive as Arkham Knight devs or modern GTA (yeah, all of you are fans of old 3D GTA games but run right now GTA III or SA (without any mods and cheats) and then GTA IV and V, be honest with yourself) or MGS V could.
I can’t help but love the idea of the City health bar, maybe if it had more polish it would’ve been fantastic. An idea I have is similar to yours, have it only on a few levels, but I also think it could work(with a lot of polish) as its own separate mode. Imagine like a sandbox mode where you have to defend the city from ever increasing threats(maybe it starts off as Lex doing something, then maybe a Zod or Brainiac invasion, and finally a Darkseid invasion) almost like a Superhero horde mode, maybe the health depleting doesnt mean a game over and more leads to a more dangerous city to live in for people, to show that Superman isn’t doing a good job, and maybe you as Superman can help increase the health by idk fixing destroyed buildings or something, that way it feels like you’re actively helping the city be better. Also maybe add some local crime gangs Infamous style that Superman has to deal with, maybe they’re given tech by Lex in order to give Superman more trouble.
Had it on the Xbox 360 when I was a kid and I had a lot of fun with it. Recently grabbed a copy off Ebay and played it again for the first time in over a decade. I'd say it holds up very well for a 2006 game.
The only thing good about this game is the flying. You could fly at different levels of speed. It felt powerful and you could break the sound barrier. That's about the only thing they got right
I threw my controller at my tv and broke it because of this game, I came back to it later on and finally beat it but man, that was a good tv now that I look back at it
The Xbox 360 version is superior to this one, BUT... its still inferior to all of the Batman Arkham games and to a degree, even the Green Lantern game, to say nothing of Spiderman 2. Younreally do get to fly about as Supes and do super things, having all his abilities fully powered up, sonyou do feel pretty danged powerful. Metropolis is massive on the 360, but the overall lack of things to do makes it suffer a lot, as does its final boss (a tornado. Not kidding. ) 6.5/10.
Honestly I like Superman Returns in Xbox 360 but I thought they would advance and make better Superman games but no... I remember playing the Christopher Reeves music while playing the game, the control weren't great more bulky the storyline was rushed I guess to meet deadlines and the city was empty, the threats of aliens every 15 sec got boring and mediocre but for the flight, fly though metropolis helping civilians we Kool I got mixed feelings but over all I give Superman Returns on 360 a 7 sorry as a fan of Superman I won't lie and say I didn't enjoy the game. But damn what they can do today just makes me wonder why a new game still hasn't come out. Lol we all wait for a Superman game like GTA VI 😂
good but kinda boring all you do is fly around and wait for a side objective until you get to the story missions and if u fail one objective you gotta redo the whole chapter lmaoo
Si se inspiraran en Dragon Ball Sparking Zero o DC Universe Online a lo mejor podría salir un buen juego de Superman.
