- How to set up the docking station for your Dyson V11™or V15™ cordless vacuum
The docking station allows you to conveniently store and recharge your machine between uses. It also provides storage for two tools.
Step 1. Drill two holes as per the recommended height in the instruction manual.
Step 2. Secure the backplate using the appropriate fixings.
Step 3. Position the jack plug on the front casing.
Step 4. Make sure the charging cable is secured neatly behind the front casing.
Step 5. Firmly push the jack cover down to secure the jack plug.
Step 6. Clip the front casing onto the backplate and push to firmly secure.

I know I am kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good site to watch new series online ?
@Jax Samir I use Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
@Wells Jaxton Yea, have been using FlixZone for since march myself =)
@Wells Jaxton Thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it !
@Jax Samir happy to help =)
For anybody wondering the instructions show a install height of 47 1/4" or 120cm which is measured from the floor to the bottom screw of the base station. This height does mean the dyson is not in contact with the floor while charging.
Thank you
Thank you sir !
Thx! Seems like they could’ve just said this in the video.
Thank you. Watched a video tell me to read instructions....why would I come here in the first place if I had the option..
You're my new hero...thank you!
To drill a hole for the little "grey plastic things" (their words... not mine) use a 1/4 inch drill bit. This number converts to a 6.3 mm drill bit or in some countries it's an "E" size.
Thank you. One of the most important pieces of information nowhere to be found in the instructions or video.
THANK YOU!!,i've been looking for drill size for hours
Thanks from me as well!
Thanks - i’ve been searching everywhere for that!
I’m actually thumbs downing the video because they don’t have this information.

I hope Dyson to provide another video showing how to remove the front plate from the back plate. I see some explanation from Dyson's reply about the way of removal, but practically it's not easy. My feeling is that the designer didn't properly consider the situation that we move the position of docking station. I think It's almost designed for permanent installation.
I have same problem, its almost not possible to seperate these parts.
I used my guitar pick to place it between the back plate and the front plate. And then, I successifully removed the front plate from back plate.
I did it with patience and a small flathead
Hello friends. I used a wooden painters stick. I wedged it in between the back plate and docking station lightly tapping on the bottom of the stick until it could not go any further. Then I lightly tapped on the bottom of the station to lift it up and off the back plate.
Anyone seeing this, if you place two blunt thin objects (a dinner knife works fine) where the two sockets are, then you can pull lightly away until the backplate unclips

It is a shame the leaflet instruction is nowhere on your website. I spend hours trying to find the recommended height.
What was the recommend height ?
"Our mission is simple. Solve the problems others ignore" -James Dyson
Well you ignored to make an instruction manual that makes sense or doesn't omit key items. And you ignored to build a website that provides information. Dyson comes in short for a $700 vacuum.
I didn't even get a manual for the docking station, and this video is a poor substitute.
My best recommendation for dock: Use a marker to mark where to drill the holes.
Literally the most unhelpful video I’ve ever watched...
@Matt Toyne This is not their best. They make incredible vacuums, I'm sure they could make a better installation video. Come on. You don't need to do a lot of things but some people would still like to learn how to do them.
Pretty self explanatory
you’re kinda slow aren’t you
Great about the height from the floor, thanks. By the way, thingies do not work too well on a plasterboard partition wall. Go and buy suitable hollow wall fittings.
some advice: mount only on a stud, the vacuum and accessories need the added support!
Thanks bro… I was actually wondering about the same. Will install on a stud…
What is a stud??
@ vertical wood support in a wall. Provides stability for items placed on wall.
@@johnmachter40 This type of house construction is very popular in the US, but not as much in Europe. Here, we prefer building with stone, such as ceramic blocks and similar materials.

If for any reason you need to say change the charger or location, how do you get the docking station off the wall? Or am I missing something.
I’m searching for an answer to this before I mount it.

Is it safe to put the vacuum cleaner in this dock while it will be charged all day long ? Thanks
Dhanie Irawan I believe so dyson have this dock so its ready to be used whenever you need it so you can continuously keep it on here
Normally its bad for any type of lithium battery to be charged constantly or let sit on more than 80% of charge for prolonged amount of time.
I have pressed that cap on the front casing by accident before putting in the jack plug 0:37. Now the cap is locked and cannot be opened. How do I open that cap? It seems that it will break if I pry open it.
Hi Yanso, thank you for interacting with us. Please send us a video of the issue you're having with the machine.
@@dyson Thanks for your reply. I finally managed to pry open that jack cover after watching the video "How to replace the charging cable". I was just too afraid of breaking it and didn't apply enough force to pry it open.
Tried to find the exact dimensions of the unit, floor "dok" but these are not available on the website or in the detailed manual. Recommend you add "dimensions" on the web description.
This is Dyson we’re talking about. They don’t put anything useful on their website. They’re going for the “clean” look.
How high did you instal the charging port from the ground? Is the Dyson hanging? Thanks!
Following
Recommends 120cm
How do you open the cover for the jack plug though?
For anyone reading this- this isn't intended to be done. You'll need something thin and pokey to try to pry it open from the inside. There is two tabs that'll have to be pressed open to release this.
@@randomfrequencythanks
Do you actually need to secure it to the wall or can you just plug it in leaning against a wall?
I do it like that
But what if you are renting and you can’t just drill into walls? Is there a less invasive way?
Does double face work for this? I am wondering too.
Just drill and after you leave paint over the holes
thank you..these instructional videos are a good send..I hate the instructions..lol
For mounting Is the 47 1/4" an arbitrary number or is there a specific reason it says to mount it at that height?
Did you ever find our the answer to this question?
why do they skip from measuring tape to screwing, what about the drilling?
In cheap plywood or plasterboard walls you dont need drilling
Is it bad for the battery to be constantly charged / sitting charged at 100%?
The battery is designed to be left plugged in, so it's always ready to use. If you have an additional battery, we recommend fully charging it soon after purchase, and alternating batteries regularly to prolong battery health.
@dyson thanks
So you give no instruction on how to open the little hatch that the cord jack fits Into. You just skip to her putting the cord into the base and snapping it closed.
I can't open mine either!
Sürekli şarj da olması pil ömrü nü azaltır mi?
The whole point of this search was to identify if the device is hanging or resting on the floor, with or without head attachments 😅😂
The dock is designed to allow the machine to be suspended when stored - it doesn't need to rest on the floor. The exact height for installation depends on your needs and situation. The machine can be stored fully assembled with the wand and preferred cleaner head attached.
Do you have to make sure u drill into the stud of the wall or anywhere in the drywall ?
stud if you got it is best, but it comes with drywall anchors if you don't have a stud conveniently available.
Poor! You don’t show drilling holes for anchor. The size drill bit needed. How high to place on wall.
It's a catch 22, either they show a bloke drilling the holes and fixing the dock or they show a 4 hour video involving filling and redecorating techniques.
Matt Toyne If you’ve somehow lost the manual you end up with this video. Which tells you absolutely nothing useful unfortunately ;)

What's the recommended height? Mine didn't come with any installing instructions.
Hi there, thanks for contacting us. There is no recommended height to mount your docking station, we'd say mount it where it'll be easy and convenient for you to access your machine when you need it.
Please let us know if you may need any further assistance or information.
@@dyson yes..your instructions for these machines are non existent or crap.
Our mounting unit didn’t come with screws. What size should I buy?
Dominica H, different sizes will be available for different types of screws. The general rule of thumb is to use a screw that's large enough that the head doesn't pass through the slot in the docking station, but the thread does. How do you take it off the wall if you move out?
you can't, you need to leave it for the new tenant and buy a shark... or get a man in your life who can use a screwdriver to take the screws out and move it to the next house.. if you can't figure this out, you're screwed... literally.
Good if your V10 came with a docking station leaflet, ours didn't 🤨
How to remove the backplate

Depends on your type of walls, which there are many
Is it the same docking station as the V10?
Hi there, thanks for your comment. We appreciate your interest in our Dyson products. The V11 docking station would a similar design as the V10. However the two would not be compatible when charging, as the V11 has a click in battery, whereas the V10 has a screw in battery.
If you have any additional questions or require advice, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your support!
@@dyson what do you mean not be compatible? I currently have the V10 and it's wall mount. If I buy the v11 can I just use the old mount? If the placement of the charging port is the same I don't see a problem
The design of the V11™ click in battery docking station has a different design and the V10™ machine would not fit into to it as it should. If you have any additional questions or require advice, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Link to purchase this mount?
I was a mechanic/machinist/product designer for 25 years.
My girlfriend snapped the 2 mounting halves of her new V10 together and
it took us 20 min to split them apart for mounting.
I don’t dare mount this to the wall as I think I’ll have to break it to remove
when we move out.
If I don’t find a way to remove this from the wall within the next 20 minutes
it’s getting returned.
This is a horribly designed mount!
It’s irredeemably bad. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve nearly pulled this right out of the drywall. I had to reorient it onto a stud, because for some stupid reason I thought anchors would be sufficient for this damn thing. It’s so easy to accidentally damage this mount with the amount of leverage you have if you don’t fully slide it up and off first.
I ended up putting in two screws _above_ the mount so it couldn’t lurch upwards when taking out the machine.
@@razzledazzle84921 You would still be putting putting screws on the axle of rotation. It’s not so much upward force, but more so lateral force away from the wall and/or rotational force.
@@HyperionBadgerwhat are anchors?
How do you remove the front plate from the back plate to get at the screws to take it off the wall and move it, or to start back at square one if you've accidentally clicked it together before installing?
I was told that someone from the company would come and help me with the removal and reinstallation when I move from my apartment.
I just unpacked mine V11 and came up with an solution, you have to flex outwards the two pads on the top that swivels the dock assembly, when flexing them pull the front dock part towards the floor, that should unlatch otherwise unaccessible big hook inside and the front part should come off, leaving the back part on the wall giving access to the mounting screws.
How to I undo the jack?
How do you uninstall the dock from the wall? I can't pop the AC cap to pull the AC adaptor out of the dock. (Can you do a video?)
Barry Strauss, for this wall mounted docking station, try inserting a small flat head screwdriver into the slot at the front of the flap to pop it up out of the locked position. If you're unable to locate a screwdriver of that size, look for alternative household objects with a similar shape.
If you're still experiencing issues, feel free to contact the Dyson helpline in your country directly, email or send us a private message via Facebook or Twitter: @ AskDyson.
Best wishes.
@@dyson I don't have this issue, but I can see the need to perhaps replace the charging cord in the future so this is good information. Additionally, how would one best disassemble the two pieces to the dock? For instance if I wanted to move the dock to a different location. The locking clip in the middle doesn't seem to allow for any screwdriver access.

I wanted to see what it looked like when assembled on the wall - and the site I'm buying it from doesn't even have pictures :(
How do you charge the extra battery?
That's a good question, Megz.
You could switch the click-in batteries over as required, giving the flat battery a chance to charge in the Dyson V11™ while it's in the docking station. Alternatively, if your charger's not installed in the dock you can plug the cable directly into the battery whether it's on its own or attached to the machine.
We hope this helps!

Hi, you should be able to use the same hole.

does anyone have a clue why ours keeps popping out? We push it firmly to secure but when lifting the vacuum out it opens. Perhaps ours is mounted too high as we reused the holes from the older V8 model.

Why not make a dock that holds all the attachments?
Depending on the exact model and variant you own, the tools included with your Dyson vacuum will vary - in addition to any others you might choose to purchase separately. Our wall docking stations generally hold two tools, but our new free-standing Floor Dok™ Multi includes space for your Dyson V12™ or V15™ vacuum, plus up to 5 tools. Vist Dyson.com to find out more!
Man, I'm at this vid to AVOID the manual, don't tell me to check that when I chose to watch this. At lease LINK the manual in the description? Cool ASMR tho-
Putting mine INSIDE our broom closet, so I can NOT install at that height as I won't be able to remove it from the wall bracket.
I had a V7 which worked there, but I lowered it to 42" height so I could get it in and out of the mount in the cabinet.
Dyson may want us to display our vacuums out in the open but I have zero interest. It's a tool, not decor.
Dyson makes "instruction" manuals that make Lego's manuals look "wordy".
Have I to drill this nail on the wall for me to fix the station?
Hi there.
Our docking stations don't come with screws as different wall types will require different screws. We recommend visiting your local hardware store to find screws suitable for the wall you wish to put the docking station on. Once you've measured out the correct height for installation, depending on the type of screw, a hole may need to be drilled.
If you're unsure of the process, we recommend contacting a local tradesman to help out with the installation.

@@emilaby5 You need a 1/4" drill bit. Dyson doesn't even show the girl mounting the drywall anchors in this video (poor form on Dyson's part), which you *could* get away with if you don't plan on attaching anything other than the vacuum to the mount. Once the holes for the anchors are drilled, drive them flush against the wall using a hammer, then the long black screws should go in quite easily. Good luck, amigo!

No instructions in the box for the wall mount. Took me ages to track this video down. Feel sorry for those who are less internet savvy. Poor communications Dyson!
the old one was way better
We have no room for our v8 so we put the dock on the floor
The mounting instructions state to hang the docking station 47 1/4" above the floor. It seems to me that mounting the docking station that high off the floor, gives the unit the appearance of just hanging there. Has anyone mounted the docking station lower? It seems to me that mounting the docking station at about 36 1/2" would look a lot better. Does anyone have input or experience regarding the mounting of the docking station lower than the 47 1/4" as prescribed in the instructions.
Did you ever find out the answer to this question? Can it be mounted lower touching the floor?
just hang it how it suits you better. I had to hang little lower so my plugs can reach the socket.
Like you guys are extra, its a docking station if you didnt have one the vacuum would be touching the floor anyway so it doesn’t matter if its touching the floor a little. Not gonna kill the machine.
I mounted it so the unit is just touching the floor with the main attachment. Seems to work fine so far.

I installed the wall mount for my Dyson V11 Torque Drive vacuum using just the screws and not the anchors. However, there is no stud behind the wall and while I am able to mount the canister and a small tool, the top of the mount is just a tad away from the wall. I am concerned about whether this will hold. Has anyone else installed a wall mount without the anchors/stud and was the wall mount able to adhere to the wall and not break away?
I did and have had my vacuum for about 8 months now and use my vacuum very often so it’s constantly on and off the base and I’ve had zero issues.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Someone explain how to take the thing apart so you can get it mounted. Jesus freakin' wept.
Ok, I'll do it. Grasp it firmly around the middle and simply pull it apart. When you realize there's a snap catch in there it doesn't seem like you should but that's it. I had tried squeezing the hinges but that didn't work. It takes a bit of effort but don't be afraid.
Didn't show the only most important thing.
Useless video. Doesn’t show the way the finished unit should look while hanging or how to figure out how far off the floor it should go. Those are the only two things anyone will want to know.
All of those items are in the instruction manual when you buy the item.
