Sad they're all gone except for Max Baer.Guess he was ready to move on but would've been good seeing him one more time as Jethro.
He actually did play Jethro one more time in the 1993 reunion and mockumentary “The Legend of the Beverly Hillbillies.” That was a good production that also included Buddy Ebsen and Donna Douglas, as well as the actors who played Sonny Drysdale and Dash Riprock, reprising their roles.
I saw an interview with him years ago and they asked why he didn't appear in the reunion show. He said he couldn't think of anything less funny than a 40 year old Jethro.
kinda surprised that Buddy Ebsen, Donna Douglas and Nancy Kulp came along with this. On the other hand a paying part is good for one's personal wealth. Still a fun watch for us fans of the Beverly Hillbillies.
IT IS OKAY TO WATCH ONCE MAYBE BUT I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT WATCH IT TWICE
I've been wanting to see this for the longest. I want to see how truly bad it is claimed to be.
Im 64 yrs old and watched Beverly Hillbillies when they were new. I have never seen this film before. Wow. I wonder what year it was made? It doesn't seem too bad to me...typical BH comedy. Just too much of Werner Klemperer. Thanks for the upload. I can't believe I've never even known this existed. Imogine Coca as Granny's ma?!? She's hilarious! Sounds just like Granny, it's eerie!
It all true
The movie came out in 1981. Werner Klemperer played a Mr. Drysdale type of character.
This is the best
I watched this movie to see how very bad this movie was and it was not as good as I hoped it would be. I love the cute animals that they showed at the zoo and the monkey pushing the buttons. They should have left this show alone. They can not replace the old show especially Granny. There will never be another Granny but I Irene Ryan.
Wow. Colonel Klink survived WW2 and is on the Hillbillies. 🤣
The pretty secretary was Linda KAY Henning. Hee das produced the original "The Beverly hillbillies". She also played in another of her daddy's productions, "Petticoat Junction" as the youngest Bradley girl. She was the voice of Jethro's sister jethrene on the Beverly hillbillies.
On Wikipedia bio of this movie they used Linda's middle name and added an e at the end because her dad was worried that he would be accused of nepotism. Kay was her actual middle name.
FYI- HER FIRST marriage was to Mike Minor (Steve Elliott from Petticoat Junction). They married a year after their TV wedding. The union lasted 5 years and it would be almost 20 more years before she would remarry.
She was my absolute favorite on PJ.
What about Heather Locklear as the 21 yr old maid.
The pretty secretary on the Original TV show was actually Sharon Tate.
I just loved this show it was really great to see most of the original cast except for Max Baer who wasn't on here it was said he didn't want to be Jethro again because he was typed cast but this was still a pretty good movie just to see what happened to the family after they struck it rich it was great to see Linda Henning again and I really loved the statue that looks just like Granny whoever made it did a great job
Seconded. I miss Max Baer, thiugh his replacement is surprisingly good. And while I miss the laugh track, the fact so many jokes still land is telling.
I know people hate Fake Jethro but he was at least passable. Granny's Maw is loud, unlikable and just not funny and she is all over the second half of the movie. And trying to work in the Dukes of Hazzard stuff was just odd. The line about Jethro 'still growing' was funny, though. Did Jed move to Pixley, LOL?
The character of Granny's Maw was great but either the actress or the way the character was portrayed was all wrong. Also, she needed a name. Granny's Maw just didn't cut it.
Substitutes like “Fake Jethro” and “Fake Jan” just can’t win. He was hated before anyone even saw him. He did a fair job of imitating Max Baer Jr’s Jethro.
Watching reruns of both Hillbillies & Petticoat Junction recently, I realize this was basically a reunion of both shows with both Linda Henning & Charles Lane there although in different characters
Mr Bedloe... Uncle Joe Kept him from taking the cannonball.
I tried, but i just couldn't get into it without the amazing Irene Ryan and the wonderful Max Baer.
Many jokes do work, some definitely don't. Max refused to return, and Irene had passed on a few years earlier. Raymond had died shortly before this as well. The movie just couldn't be the same, but
There never WAS a gas shortage. Just greedy people.
Pushing alternative energy
Greedy people pushing Alternative Energy using newly printed government tax dollars. Their hand is in the till.
Original cast members Irene Ryan (Granny) had died in 1973 and Raymond Bailey (Milburn Drysdale) died in 1980, and Max Baer Jr. (the original Jethro) declined to participate.
The guy playing Jethro must have studied Max's demeanour closely because he has it down pat! Sadly, there is no Bio for him
He was Bigfoot, in Sid & Marty Krofft's "Bigfoot and Wildboy".
Ray Young was born on May 9, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri. He died on July 6, 1999 in Los Angeles, California

Irene Ryan as Granny was irreplaceable..this was still a good movie
So Hollywood was the original Sin City ??.. 🧐Makes alot of sense right about now .. 💯
As silly as the show is I'm glad I stayed to the end, what a great surprise to see who was playing with the great Earl Scruggs, fiddle player John Hartford and guitar player Rodney Dillard, John Hartford was an amazing musician, song writer and river boat captain on the Mississippi river,he penned the song, along with many many more, Gentle on my Mind,a song that Glenn Campbell had huge success with, I could go on forever about John but y'all can look him up he was amazing, Rodney was also a great musician that did some collaboration with John along with Rodney brother Doug, Doug and Rodney Dillard were also part of the Darling family band on the Andy Griffith show
I agree. Some of the best talent of the time and ..maybe..for all time.
They want to save fuel ⛽️ riding around in limousines taking ✈️ jet airplanes !
The government waste was replicated perfectly in the film.
I loved buddy as Barnby jones
Feels like Jethro's secretary saying she babysat for Ellie's kids is a callback to when The Clampetts visited Hooterville and Betty Jo who is the same actress Linda Kaye Henning also plays the secretary let Ellie babysit her little one.
Ty
What a great show
Funny Mr. Drysdale wasn’t even mentioned in this movie including Mrs. Drysdale
Wasn't what I was excepting at all This was really quite silly. It was good seeing Jed, Elly Mae and Jane.
Well doggie.
Waited to hear klink say Hogan
what a waste of characters, plot, and writers.
To each their own. I had fun with it. Be positive... you'll live a healthier life. Besides...if you didn't like it, why did you watch it?
@@FrankiesFancy People who ask that question fail to realize that a person has to watch something to be able to make an informed decision about the quality, etc., One does not just dismiss it after failing to watch it.
CD needs a monocle , and this needed better writers
wow Miss Jane is really beautiful in this show. a few KGS did wonders for her
The end credits should've had the more conventional "flash" effect like most other shows/tv-movies from that time.
Can't watch it. More commercials than the regular TV show.
I know he wasn't Max Baer, but I thought Ray Young did a good job. This was the first time I saw him, outside his "Bigfoot & Wildboy" outfit.
Very strange Jed Clampett and miss Heatherway haven't aged a day in their lives so strange. After six decades
One of many times we were supposedly running out of oil, still hasn't happened, but the scam has made billions of dollars for the big players.
My first time seeing anything without Granny..☹️
Forget it. Without granny 👵 (Irene Ryan) it doesn't work.
I just nowdays ónly love Elly Mays critters just imagine growing up like Elly surrounded by CRITTERS
CD IS COL KLINK
Heather Locklear as one of the "old ladies". lol
Colonel Klink
I only gave this a thumbs up because it was wonderful to see alot of the original cast Jed and Ms Hathaway were ok . Whoever played Jethro actually was not too bad either. Nice to see Elly Mae. Great to see Shorty and Jeds friend the blacksmith. The beginning had me interested . Moonshine as an alternate fuel.. Instead of Jeds Grandmother in law. Would have been better to have Jeds Aunt. This movie got to dumb after. Klink did not fit into this movie at all. Now you put Drysdale in where Klink was and it atleast would have made it interesting... Whatever happened to Jeds millions. Truly disappointing movie that could have been a great sendoff or continuation.
This movie was about granny's tonic but yet no granny.
Irene Ryan (granny) had already passed on when this movie was made
I remember the series having a laugh track. None to be found in this movie?
The pretty secretary on the Original tv show was actually Sharon Tate.
These reunion shows were almost always terrible. The one exception I would make would be Gilligan's Island and that's just because they could actually show them being rescued.
Actress playing maw Imogene Coca from National Lampoon's Family Vacation.
I assume Irene ryan passed already why was max baer wasn’t Jeffro
Max Baer was angry because he was type cast as a bumbling baffoon. He just started not too long before his directing career and didn't want to get back into the character. Irene Ryan died in 1973 (8 years earlier) as did Raymond Bailey one year before this movie. He wouldn't be able to do this movie anyways as in the tail end of the television show, he was showing signs of alzheimers.
Yeah that's so nut funny anymore
Wish Max Bare had reprised his roll as Jetro and instead of Granny's Maw. Made her a sister or cousin
Well, I thought I was gonna watch this. I can't stomach the opening.
Heather Locklear as the 21 yr old maid.
ironically, nancy kulp (mss jane) and buddy ebsen (jed) didn't get along in real life. she ran for political office and he opposed her.
I feel bad to make negative comments since I did enjoy the original series. I have to agree with quite a few of the other comments already posted but what was with all the yelling? I was always a fan of Imogene Coca but in this case I was embarrassed for her. As for Werner Klemperer, he must have needed the money. I easily understand Max Baer Jr.'s absence, he became a respected actor, director and producer and had shed his Jethro persona/stigma.
Like many television movie reunions (i.e. I Still Dream Of Jeannie, Mary and Rhoda), mediocre at best. Buddy Epson seems slightly older but Donna Douglass hasn't aged one bit. Even at the tail end of her life, though she is showing her age, still was as beautiful as her 60s television show counterpart. According to IMDB, Granny's Maw was mentioned as gone to her reward in season 7, episode 8 titled The Great Cook Off so maybe Granny's Maw should have been billed as Granny's Granny's. Might have over extended the joke but not more than Granny's Maw.
The Green Acres reunion movie was even worse. I'll just stick to watching the reruns. So much more enjoyable
The Green Acres reunion wasn't very good, but I consider this the worst of all.
Campy.
To many commercials
19:03
For some reason no one can play Jethro but Maxx, in the movie the guy was bad, anyway this wasn't good, far from the original show
Far to many adds, I haven't seen the start of the yet and typing this in bye garbage
this was awful it lacked the warmth and love of the original the replacement actors could not compare to the original miss jane tried to carry the show i loved her character but basically the Beverly HillBillies cast did cameos
Dumba's movie I ever saw. Wasted 15 minutes fast forwarding.
Boy I bet they spent every bit of the $5,000 budget they had
No Irene Ryan,no Harriot Mcgibbins no entertainment..bad writing.
Not even going to view this ,,,,,
It seems like this show is a complete flop and i have no intentions of wasting my time watching it any longer........
Most of these reunion movies were at best mediocre This one was lousy
What a waste of good film.
A complete failure! Dull, boring, crappy acting and above all really bad scripting.
Buddy Ebsen was still the same excellent. Donna Douglas aged a lot. It's ridiculous to not have her and Jethro with spouses and kids. My fav part of the original was the feud between Mrs Drysdale and the Clampetts. Now a storyline along those lines may have made this film watchable.
Too blurry to watch
No Irene Ryan,no Harriot Mcgibbins no entertainment..bad writing.
