  • I was given 3 very nice HP laptops to repair, all with the same fault - someone that took the original SSD drives damaged the M.2 connectors. In this video I'm sharing my process of restoring one of the laptops to a working condition :)

Great, but Can I Know Where Do I get the electronic components?

@@ProdevsCodingChannel I try to source from DigiKey first. If they don't have it, I use my donor boards, and if I can't find it there I go to AliExpress.

I tend to just buy a m.2 to usb c external ssd adapter or a pcie card

What if the laptop only has 1 SSD but there's also a slot for SSD 2 without a connector, can you add another connector to the motherboard on the SSD2?

Well that would depend on the rest of the circuitry. Is this just wired 1:1 to the other slot for alternative chassis configuration or is it a completely electronically independent PCIE bus? Will BIOS make use of it? Hard to tell. Nothing stops you from trying I guess:)

I think I will let you know. Gonna try to do that with Acer Spin 1

the pins for my ssd connector broke and HP is trying to say i will need a new board. but can it be replaced with a new connector by soldering and save me the $400?

Yes, easily. Don't spend that kind of money just because the connector is broken. New connector (or even a used one) plus the labour would be less than £50.

@@DIYRepairHour does any m.2 connector work? got one that looks to be a match, 4 pins on the end and several on the other

@@RepostedCentral you need to source a connector that points the same direction. Because you can have left or right facing ones, and those are not interchangeable.

Sir i have another ssd 2 empty which mean there is no connector its inneed to be solder, now my question is can i solder a new m.2 connector and solder the pin and add the new m.2 ssd 2 1tb, will it read coz i as manufactures says storage can expand only to 1 tb but in ssd 1 slot i have 500gb, will it ready my new 1tb or will it become 1.5 tb?
