I say trash it (for parts), I recently worked on liquid damaged ECM for subaru, it all looked pretty clean, looked recoverable but no luck. Liquid damage is tricky, that's why nobody wants to buy flooded cars 🤣 A lot of value in this video, thanks man!
I am very interested in a GPU core swap. But if the card you are working on now is indeed repairable, your search for a new core starts over. I think it would be more efficient to attempt a repair of this card first.
I don't know if it's working, it certainly measures fine. That's the idea. I have a super strong PCB cleaning solution - that card would be a nice test for it.
I recently subbed as I’m interested in GPU repairs, I hope you’ll manage to fix it. Greetings from the sister island - Jersey. BTW I’m Polish too! Keep the content flowing! 😁
Channel Islands FTW 😁 If you need any hard to find parts don't hesitate to contact me, I have managed to gather a lot of donor PCBs :) Dzięki za oglądanie:)
Restore might be less labour intensive, especially if what failed from the water damage only needs a few components replaced, remember most Graphic cards now have water damage protection because more and more cards are water cooled, Question is... Does this card have this protection?
I will try to find a good middle ground. As you see the card measures fine. It may just work fine after cleaning. On the other hand I'm eager to do my first core swap.
Well @@DIYRepairHour You could always do both, By getting this card fully operational and then followed by the core swap with this here Core knowing it is definitely a good working Core.
Yes I know I need a better recording setup. Either a camera that can show more of my desk so I could fit the meter on screen, or one of those multimeters that can send readings to my PC.
oh no you miss understood I am not complaining. I want to learn more and I could not see your meter. Especially your settings. My motherboard died and wont start. Been told its the north birdge. I dont have money to send it away for repairs.@@DIYRepairHour
I want to swap the core too. Assuming I didn't lose it somewhere I should have a stencil for it. On the other hand taking the core from a working card is a waste 😞
Hello, I also repair, currently I have 2 1080 that I bought a long time ago to repair but I never had time one of them has a Good GPU chip and the memories but a hole in the pcb the other has the pcb in good condition but with a driver that put a couple of mosfets on short and due to my limited experience at that time I was never able to find a replacement. For this second one I would not bet on the GPU chip. If you are interested and dedicate a video to them, I don't want money, just the shipping.By the way, I live in Spain, I don't know how far away you live.
Hi, I would love to make a dedicated video on them! I live in Guernsey Channel Islands, postage from Spain should be around the same as to UK. Please contact me - patrykpawleta@gmail.com - so we can arrange everything :) THANK YOU!

Part two coming out tomorrow :)
But I won't spoil anything :P

You do not show the Multimeter or results on the screen. This would be awesome if you share that screen also.

I'd like to see you (try)swap the core, I had 1 short lived success story 🤣 I watched thecoder totally cremate a ps5 apu last night, lol
