Amen! However, since I'm older than all of you and grew up in Catholic South Louisiana, I was proud of my Catholic heritage!!! All the more reason to start including the study of the Catholic colonies eventually incorporated into the United States for a deeper, more nuanced understanding of the American Catholic Church. Because the Louisiana colony was a political football - tossed between France and Spain - families had to become more resilient in learning how to pass on the Faith. Far from perfect, to be sure. But a lot wiser when understanding the visible defects in the clergy...Pere Antoine, the expulsion of the Jesuits... etc. A lot to be learned here, especially in light of today's scandals and the role of the laity in preserving the Faith "first in our own homes."
And thank you for sharing Dr. Rowland's thoughts on your platform. It was so "familiar."

In the 34th minute there is talk of a "dreary moralism" and no vertical. I wonder what he is talking about, like what are some examples of homily themes or homily sentences that are moralism. Genuine question.

Maybe Larry Chapp could invite Joseph Minich to talk about his book Bulwarks of unbelief?

I appreciate you guys. Agree and disagree and also don’t see that as important. Ultimately I agree with Milbank, but really frankly the apostle of Love Isaac the Syrian. If we do not Love God then we cannot love our neighbor, if we do not love our neighbor we do not love God.
