I know it has been a year since you've done that job but I'm guessing since you replaced the vvt solenoids I assume they were both plugged up? I'm asking because my exact same engine and vehicle as the one your working on has a tick even though I've kept the maintenance up on the vehicle I'm thinking it's the same issue with my engine. What are your thoughts ?

The vvt I beleave were replaced due to a check engine lite not a noise. If you have upper head ticks lifter or rover arms would be a suspect

with my Dodge Avenger 2012 - 2.4, I have check engine, with code P0340, the car is running with max 3000 RPM with a little non smooth gear change, I replace the 3 sensors, both camshaft position sensors and the crankshaft sensor, also i replace the Throttle body and reprogram all of them, all of that after checking the wiring and fuse box also the ECU.
really getting tiered of the cost of checking and replacing parts.
what could be the problem, is it due the VVT solenoid or timing belt ??

You don't have a timing belt it's a timing chain. Did you use mopar parts or aftermarket?

@vacaneto that's likely your issue chrysler computer systems usually don't go well with aftermarket sensors that need a vary specific resistance and reading voltages use mopar ones

Friend has the same car getting a p000b code Bank 1 Camshaft 2 Position Slow Response. Keeps up on maintenance but from the looks of it possibly needs to replace exhaust vvt?

Yeah I’m getting the same.. I drive Uber n take care of this car regularly.. hopefully I can get the vvt part install n pass this emission test. Lmk if u n your friend fixes it

How’d you get the gunk off the motor?

gunk where? inside the engine? you cant its already to the point where damage has been done to the engine due to lack of maintained oil
