- Spoiler, we did end up winning in another great match by holding down the Hill in Tourmaline Desert.
But it didn't matter, no matter the outcome.. I was going to upload this video either way, just because you have got to see how much work went into this one teammate's Cataphract. Truly an epic job! Well done! The beginning of the match actually consisted of mostly taking photo ops. I even got a few in myself!!

Of all mechs to be drippy as hell... a Cataphract, a mech that ain't really mentioned a lot in the grand scheme of the MWO metas. That's a gigachad move alone.
Yea it was definitely a sight to behold. I never would have expected it... But there it was..
Some of us still remember when the Ilya Muromets was dominant and CTFs were meta... miss 'em, they're fun 'mechs.

Yea MWO is honestly been around for a bit but it's PC exclusive.
You should see Something I like to call my " Black Death" Cataphract.

I run this exact build on the BH, all pulse lasers to take advantage of the 5% heat quirk. It's got shorter range than the meta laser vomit with ermeds, but it's still a lot of fun and powerful.
Yea and honestly I haven't changed this build to this day. It's still solid and runs perfectly fine no matter the meta

Yea I love this mech. I think it was there single best selling pack if I recall.
But let's be honest. Timberwolf. Enough said. It also helped that the BH variant is an great mech too!

It's arguably the best f2p game out there right now..
And the last two years or so they have really been putting more into it. It's a great time to return

@@scarfazed Yea and I'm pumped because Clans have needed the Stone Rhino for so long. They need their super tanky Assault Mech that can actually hang with the IS tankys 🤣

They really need to add melee (or should I say... mêlée) to MWO.
Yes it would change the dynamic considerably, but overall I think it would be appreciated.
It would let assaults deal with lights hugging you and make the Hatchetman actually do what it was meant to.
But good luck getting melee added to such an old engine.

They kinda had it before. Then Dragonbowling happened to a Dev(or was it Russ?). Then it was removed.
Because that assault isn't gonna kick that pesky Light. That pesky Light is gonna Charge/DFA that assault from behind.

One of the most fun aspects of this game is the ability to tune your mechs to your playing style, both in appearance and in function. I usually spend a lot of time working out the heat vs speed vs weapons, jump jets, stealth... so many skills you can use to tune. Paint jobs, decals, patterns. If you have never played this game and are a 1st person shooter fan... try it. Even after 7 years, this is still my #1 game to play. If you get in with a good group, one that knows how to work as a team, you can dominate the battlefield. Teamwork really increases the 'fun factor' of the game too. BTW, Question for the guy making this... your weapons sound different. I had heard about a file hack that does that. Do you have it? What is it called?
I agree on all points. This game still holds up too graphically. It's also arguably the best f2p model left in the industry.
It's my go to pvp game. Period.
I have played this more than any other game ever and I go back to playing games on my PCJr. It shows its age but still holds up.
@@kennethfharkin I have probably as well these last few years. It's f2p business model is so good and honestly it just seems like the devs want you to play and have fun
@@houseforqall I buy a couple mechpacks a year simply to support the game and play around with something new from time to time. In the end though I always drift back to my mechbay full of 75 ton Marauders.
@@kennethfharkin I'm the same way. The legendary Mechs are a neat and new dynamic for the game for both mechanics and monetization.

Great game. Also curious about your mods. Which sound mod did you use? And I also discovered that the missile effects(batch missiles with track smoke) which is very different from mine. Is that also a mod or some game configure file tweaks?
So during this video this was ChonkyGuns mod.
I currently don't use it because of the new HAG weapons and Binary lasers etc I don't think have been updated for it.
I don't use any other mods to enhance graphics. I run the game at 1440p maximum everything and MSAA AA as well.
Inside Nvidia control panel I have a few things cranked up but no actual mods

WOW! have they improved the cockpits since I last played! (Also, the sound effects seem properly re-worked into a MW2-theme modernization.)
I had a giggle @ the Elementals riding your Timber Wolf but, the Cataphract wins the day.
Haha yea the cockpits and a lot has been tweaked up. However the sounds you hear are probably because I'm using a sound mod called ChonkyGuns.
Sound mods are totally acceptable in MWO officially
@@houseforqall Hats off to the mod's creator. IMO, It really gives it the 'bigass thumpy-stompy' feeling that MW2 tried to convey with the limited audio fidelity.

Absolutely! One thing that MWO doesn't get enough credit for is it's sound design. It still rivals so many games these days in just raw punch and immersion.
What sound mod are you using? Been searching for it a while now.

ermeds work better with lpls. similiar range and almost same burn time and cooldown. using 5erml+2lpl in my hbr, alpha is devastating and can be done up to 3 times without overheating
Very true, Im using the pulse lasers around though to take advantage of the Bh's quirks
It's stuff like this that makes me want to play this so badly. I need to just find some people to help me learn one day

However, there is no match making based on input device so you will be up against players using mouse and kb. Which is by far the superior input

Hate to break it to you but that mech is not set up for close range, it's more of a mid/long range laser mech.
