I am surprised ,they don't use , UHMW for things like that It is slick,tough and heat resistant. We used it where we had a lot of wear on metal vibrator/ drag conveyor's. Has always liked and shared. All my best

The customer provided this material, but maybe I’ll suggest something better next time!

@@MaineMachinist Thank you for the reply. We would get the UHMW in 4/10 foot sheets. We cut it to size with a Skillsaw . And used screw's that were made where the head would break off. to attach it to the metal beds. I found a place on Ebay that sells round stock. Not a bad price back a couple of years ago. I was well surprised the first time nylon grabbed my drill and dragged my quill. I didn’t make that mistake twice!

Absolutely. It will pull so hard sometimes you can’t back the quill out!
I will mention that unlocking the tailstock can be tricky. If you do it wrong, it’ll suck the drill chuck all the way into the work!

I run coolant when drilling that stuff you can drill all the way it stays cool..
