I didn't guess but I perhaps should have done since the last time I turned nylon was for a loo seat hinge pin. I found that the sharper inserts intended for aluminium cut this stuff nicely, not so much of a burr.

I think it was me that mentioned rust off the wood. Such a simple solution. Also, we yearly change out the gear oil from the lathe and mill. A light coating of that would have the same affect. Cheers Alan👍

G'day Alan. Nice bit of turning with your nylon. Good to see a workshop doing constructive repairs, Imagine doing your business going sideways. 😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Well done for a Dynamic Finish

Hi Alan, watching you make these with such precision and accuracy I was sure you were making some parts for NASA or BAE Systems. Lol 😁 Cheers Nobby

    Hello Allan
You can bore a hole in the backend of the wood and insert led or cheaper stuff like a steelbar in there to act as a counterweight. Cheers

I find CCGT inserts to be good for turning Nylon. Same shape as CCMT but with high rake & polished top surface.

you are using carbide on nylon? Man, Get some HSS it grinds so much sharper and you get a way better finish and it doesn't spring away from the tool like it will with carbide.
