the reason these intros are much shorter than the other games you have seen so far is due to the arcade like style mhgu had, if you want to see more cinematic monster intros i highly recommend watch the intros for monster hunter 4 ultimate instead the high quality cutscenes are reserved for the main story monsters: Astalos, Mizutsune, Gammoth, Glavenus and Valstrax
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I appreciate the response, I’ll make sure to give you some lore when you eventually get round to mh4u as it’s my all time favourite game and the monster ecology from this franchise is truly fascinating
I've said before and I'll say it again, you two are some of the top reasons why ilI love your channel and many other reaction channels. That's the whole point, I always want to know what other people are thinking about on the subject and their perspectives on the media given to them. Whether it's a game, new game, an older movie, newer movie, etc, I like to think we all like the same things but for different many reasons. I just like to know other thoughts on the subjects and talk about stuff I missed or overlooked and etc. Like for example you two love "Thunder Puppy" in the Monster Hunter games and media. It is a very cool and awesome designed animal/monster. It along with many other monsters are great to awesome looking and really fun to hunt or capture in some parts of the games. Or a monstie in stories 1 or 2, point is these monsters are just the tip of the iceberg to sell and get the games and media out there. Like Pokemon with their never ending growing monster roster, it is always worthwhile to look into and play
Clouldn't agree more Empress' Throne is one of the greaters reveals in the whole franchise. That and the final Ahtal-Ka's "weapon of cloice" look extremely imposing. Definitely worth checking out
So for some context Monster Hunter Generations was released on the 3DS to celebrate the current four generations of the series. It has four flagship monsters that each represented a generation of the franchise. Astalos the electric dragonfly Flying Wyvern represents first gen and has a rivalry with Rathalos, a true Flagship of the first generation. Gammoth the ice mammoth Fanged Beast has a rivalry with Tigrex, one of the Flagships of second gen, the same generation that introduced mammalian monsters like Rajang and Bulldrome Mizutsune the bubble fox Leviathan is repping third gen and has a rivalry with Zinogre or as you know him, Thunder Puppy. Third gen also introduced the Leviathan class monsters. Glavenus the thousand degree knife dinosaur Brute Wyvern is repping Fourth Gen. He doesn’t have a direct rival like the others as he represents the hunters them selves and the future of the series and how it only gets more crazy from here, but he does have a weird hate relationship with Rathian, the first ever monster who finished being designed and is on the logo of Monster Hunter 1. Together these four Flagships were known as the Fated Four, each representing one of the four core elements of Thunder, Ice, Water, and Fire. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate released in Japan on the 3DS and later on the Switch internationally. It is the anniversary game and their idea was to grab as many old monsters as possible and shovel them all into one massive game. This game actually has the Flagships, Valstrax and Bloodbath Diablos. Valstrax is the rocket powered Elder Dragon, using oxygen and dragon element to create combustion explosions to blast out of its six wing tips to shield flight. It is counterparts with Bloodbath Diablos, a Deviant form of Diablos. Deviants are the guys you saw near the end of the video with the extra long names, like Thunderlord Zinogre. They’re singular individuals of a species with some kind of wicked change resulting in altered biology, fighting styles, and overall cranked up aggression and difficulty. These range from birth mutations causing thighs like thunder organs to grow much larger than normal to monsters who have survived many encounters with hunters and became more dangerous through experience and age. Bloodbath Diablos is a Diablos who survived a hunter attack as a youngling, mangling its horn and tail in the process. It managed to survive and grow those things back all twisted and gnarled and this grew up with pure hatred, attacking anything in its sight and rolling in the blood coated sand to cover its shell, hence its name. Out of fury it can then heat up its body so much the blood boils into steam on its shell which it uses in combat. For some reason he wasn’t in this video, but Valstrax and Bloodbath Diablos together make the duo of The Unrivalled Two. Put the two groups together and you cover all six main damage types in Monster Hunter, Thunder, Ice, Water, Fire, Dragon, and Raw/Non Element and that’s really cool.
Capcom's recently published on the official mh channel a video with the top 20 monsters (voted by the community). It might be a cool mh video to watch/react! You'll definitely recognize some monsters!!
Glavenus and Valstrax had longer cinematic cutscenes in part because they were the mascot monsters for the game (Glavenus for MH Generations basegame, and Valstrax for MH Generations Ultimate). Najarala's cutscene ended before you could see its full size (it is actually one of the longest by body/tail length despite being only a "mid tier" species); Najarala actually does have four legs, but barely uses them. Nakarkos and Ahtal-Ka's intros only gave you half the story, you'll need to lookup a video of the actual fight to see the rest.
Mizutsune (the bubble wyvern) is still one of my all time favorites because getting hit by the bubbles in-game actually makes your character slip and slide around the map!
If you want some more Monster Hunter, Oceaniz's videos are REALLY great to learn some more about it. They're pretty much nature documentaries set in-universe. A good one to check out first would be "The Flying Wyvern - The Monsters of Monster Hunter | Ecology Documentary"
5:17 Fun fact: An idea one of the village elders had when handing you the quest to hunt a Gammoth was to try to tame it to bring tourism into the area. Of course, story-wise, the plan falls through because it ends up being _way_ too dangerous already without your hunter having to go through hoops to capture it (yes, I captured it in the gameplay, but the dialogue turns out to be the same regardless), but I like that even the devs picked Gammoth out of the four - Glavenus, Astalos, Gammoth, and Mizutsune are all part of a quartet of sorts - to be the most likely to tame. And I can't help but wonder what would have happened if an already elite hunter who could have (canonically) captured that Gammoth took that quest that day...
The intros here are far shorter, but are still kinda sweet! The animated ones are fantastic. Can you react to both the Monster Hunter 10th Anniversary Size Comparison and the 15th Anniversary videos? They’re both really cool
Fun fact: All Gammoth are females. They are the matriarchs of popo herds (smaller but still fluffy mammoth-like creatures) and are absolutely massive. In contrast, every Mizutsune we fight in game is male, as being in heat makes the males ultra aggressive
if you guys ever react to the monster themes, you should definitely check out Khezu's first! such a crazy and epic theme for such an ugly monster...but we love him all the more because of it 😂❤
nakarkos is a elder dragon cuttle fish monster that uses the bones of its victims as armor thats way you think it has 2 heads it are in fact its arms coverd in bones the monsters after it are deviants these monsters have evolved after encounter with hunters and ahtal ka the final boss is not feared of its apperence or strenth but by its inteligence its smart to operate a mech that it uses it in battle against this mantis monster
Aww, huh I honestly thought they were more monster intros. Definitely some monsters didn't show though like Rustrazor, Deviljho(Pickle), barioth, barroth, rajang, boltreaver astalos, soulseer mizutsune, elderfrost gammoth, and many many others.
They should’ve shown the second version of nakarkos its hard to see but the dragon heads are tenticles and the main body is underneath the huge skull its actually like a cuttlefish another one of my favorite super large monster
I know that a lot of people have already said that, but I think you should react to Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate cutscenes. Even if the game is just a little bit older, the cutscenes are just fantastic
"Imagine you're in the desert and see that thing coming at you." Oh my friends, you haven't seen how Ahtal-ka comes at you, that intro there is because we went after her. Look up her boss fight and you'll see how it is that she comes after you.
All things considered, this is my favorite Monster Hunter title. Rise is super fun with all the jumping and grappling you can do and Freedom Unite was formerly the most content but this title is like a celebration of Monster Hunter as a whole and is just all around a blast with the various combat styles and hunter arts.
Hope you guys check out the Monster Hunter 4 ultimate intros, it was the first game to do proper intro cutscenes for the monster cast and imo still did it best. You should also check out the CG game intros and ecology videos from the earlier games.
Gammoth (ice mammoth) is so cool. I really hope they return this monster in Monster Hunter Wilds. Also, Ahtal-Ka (sand golden mantis) is the final boss of Generations. The fight is really interesting. A shame we never saw this creature in other game again. Well, we can only hope to see it in the future, it is one of my favourite monsters.
Whenever you plan to do another monster hunter reaction, i would say that you can react to The Monster Hunter Worlds turf wars which i don't think you reacted to. But also you can react to Monster Hunter Worlds all monster novas/signature moves, is a bit of a shorter video but should be entertaining.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Oh yeah but those are monster hunter RISE turf wars. Monster hunter World has some unique turf wars that aren't in Rise so it might be worth checking them out.
I would love to watch your reaction to all the monster hunter opening cinematics. I think you will find them somewhat interesting due to how different they can be.
Just a thing on two of those monsters (or I'm gonna get carried away and this comment is gonna end up way too long): -the Bulldrome (Pumbaa) was a pain in the butt. It's not a particularly challenging monster or anything it's just... he charges... all the time! Half of the time while fighting it it's spent running after this Porky Pig on steroids charging in a random direction. -Yian Garuga. I remember it on the first MH for PSP: it was a NIGHTMARE! Seriously: incredibly fast, wide array of moves, can poison, can deafen you with incredibly loud screams, resisted to almost every element you could put on your weapon and an incredibly tough armor able to shrug off anything but the hits from the sharpest weapons. Mechanically wise it's basically a mix between Yian Kut-Ku and Rathian, but the results were definetly something else.
Glavenus is the only monster to almost dethrone the Brachydios for me. I only got into Generations a few months ago, and I need to get into High Rank, but I loved Glavenus so much.
Most of the intros for this game aren’t as good as the games that came before or after but they are definitely still a great introduction to the monsters! I hope you guys enjoyed seeing all these great and creative designs! :D
I had monster generations on my 3DS and then later on they made it compatible for the switch so you could transfer your gameplay data. If you're noob do not play generation ultimate I learned the hard way and I never finished the game.
Hm, very nice ones. I wonder what’s next, say have you done all of the Intros for the Games themselves yet? Say, how about doing the Top Ten Fire Bosses by joshscorcher at some point?
if you think these monsters are cool, you should react to their fights, cause a lot of them are very creative and some are just "HOW THE F AM I STILL ALIVE AFTER THAT HIT!?!?"
Despite MHGU being my favorite out of the entire franchise, I would NOT recommend it to a newcomer. The sheer amount of content compared to other titles can very easily intimidate new players into feeling overwhelmed, potentially causing them to back out of ever giving the series another chance. I should know, I learned the hard way years ago by encouraging some friends to try it. They backed off after about 20-30 hours in at most. (Though I did succeed in convincing a few into liking the Stories spin-off who weren’t too crazy about the main series mechanics.)
Imo in trying to pursue a 'lets throw everything into one game' approach, they ended up making the monsters feel less special, especially the fact that there will be newcomers experiencing some of these new monsters for the first time, especially the previous flagships, in such an anti climactic way
The reaction to Khezu could not be more comedically appropriate
Agreed
