- Hello! This "Quick Tip" Tutorial shows how to replace a watch battery on a Timex Ironman Watch. This video should work for any Timex Ironman Digital watch (or other Timex watches).
I suggest following along with the video as you replace the battery. Good luck and feel free to ask questions. I usually respond within a week or so. -RM - Навчання та стиль
Thanks for the video! I was stumped until you showed how to unclip the battery holder clips. On old battery, the indigo stopped working, even though other functions still worked. Old battery voltage was drained down to 1.3 V. New battery clocks in at 2.27 V, and glows like a champ!
Thanks for posting this video. Saved me a lot of time and "head scratching" as I was trying to remove the battery holder without breaking the thin metal. Worked like a charm the first time!
Clear, consise, "professional". Very impressed.
I could not have replaced the battery on my Timex ironman today without you! I cannot understand how you could have gotten any thumbs down at all for this video. I tried to watch another video where the person did not explain anything and it was too difficult to follow. If I could follow your video and get this watch battery replaced anybody can. :-) Thank you so much for doing this!
Thank you so much! Excellent tutorial...your little helper at the end is sweet.
I'm finally having to replace my battery and couldn't figure out how to get past the sticker with the clips. Thanks for a great video!
This process worked on the Timex Expedition T49659 too.
This looks so simple! A jeweler who replaces batteries all the time stopped when he got inside because he didn't know how to loosen the clips. So now I can do it myself.
Just an awesome video! It helped me replace my battery on my iron man watch without having to buy a new one. Thanks!
Thank you for the tutorial. I had figured everything out except the clips. I now have a functioning watch.
Just found your video, had already got back off the watch, but couldn't work out how to release the clips holding the battery in. Your instructions made it clear just what to do. Job completed and watch working fine. Many thanks.
Thank you! Couldn't figure out how to get the battery out so I found you to help. Good job!! You were very clear and I was able to follow the whole process. :-)
I like what Mark Lazarus said. I would also like to add that your video was made very well! I was able to see everything and you explained everything in detail. Your audio was clear and the background music was not distracting. Thanks for saving me $20!
Thank you very much. You're comment means a lot. Its good to get feedback. Take care.
Yep, nice job of explaining, hitting all the high points, what you have to look out for and when the lights should come back on. Thanks
I agree with the last comment. I watched another video and it was worthless. With yours I was able to change the battery easily. Thanks for posting!
Just used your vid to replace my IronMan battery. Thank you!!
Thank you for creating this ez to follow battery replacement video, It worked. 2 thumbs up!
Rich, thank you so much for the precise & correct the first time directions. I've had 4 women's Ironman watches over the years & this was the odd one. I'm so glad I googled UA-cam how to change a woman's Ironman watch battery & this was the first video. Keep up the awesome videos please! :-)
Thanks a ton. Couldn't figure out how to get the battery plate off. Safety pin worked right away as you showed.
Thanks for the tutorial 👍🏼. Just trying to get the battery out of my older ironman. The strap broke, so time to retire it. This wil help with changing the battery in my new one. Very helpful.
Thanks for the great demo. It really helped me do this repair.
Thanks so much... followed all ur instructions. Great results!
excellent description, especially the comment on the speaker :)
thanks!
Great video. This and a $2.00 battery saved me $500 on an Apple Watch, which tempted me after my Ironman went blank. Thanks!
Very helpful video. Perfect explanation and it worked like a charm. Thanks!
Timex got so good at making these things. I cannot tell you how many batteries my watch has used up. :-)
hey thanks! the clip business over the battery was really not easy to see how to pop off but with a pin and what you said it worked right away!
Very helpful. Thanks for the tutorial!
Hey Rich - thanks a million for this video. Headed to Walgreens to get batteries for ALL my Timex Ironman watches that I can now "reuse"!!
That's awesome. They seem to last forever. Good luck changing it! I'm glad I could help you out.
Much appreciated - quite a service you have provided. I was getting desperate.
David Collings You're welcome! Glad to help out.
That was excellent. Good job dude!
Glad to know about the red 'seal'..... I just opened the watch and didn't know what that was all about..... now I can safely proceed.... Thanks.
Rich - thanks - appreciate the info. Nicely done and helpful as I'm about to fix my Ironman watch.
Thanks so much for sharing and taking the time to help all of us out who want to do it ourselves!!!
You're welcome. Glad to help out. These Timex watches seem to last forever.
Hey Rich, I appreciate your video. Watchman wanted $25 to replace battery. He said battery was $5, so you have saved me $20, and give me the satisfaction of DIY. Will be doing my partners soon too :)
That's awesome. Glad I could help out. My wife is still using her's since I made this video.
Thanks for posting. I was completely baffled as to how to undo the clip that held the battery.
Thank you! This was a life saver!
Great video. Looks like my Timex Men's T48042 Expedition Digital Chrono. I wish I'd watched this first :)
BRILLIANT demonstration/explanation of how to replace this battery - the people who gave thumbs down are total a-holes! I'd give you a hundred thumbs UP if I could but I guess one will have to do.
Thankyou!!! you saved my watch
Good instructions! Thank you!
Thank you worked like charm.
Thank you, Rich!
So useful... thank you!
Thanks Rich
Very helpful
Very informative...thanks for posting
thanks, great video. Very useful
Worked for me, thanks!
Thank you!! Mine has one battery clip and one TINY screw instead of the 2nd battery clip so it was a little different and my sticker was white not red. But without this video I was STUMPED. Thank you, thank you :)
Thank you This is excellent. Success.
Thanks for the video sir, I recently changed my battery on my timex ironman 30 lap w/ indiglo day model.
I changed the battery, but it has no sound.
So I turned the back case the other way around, that the spring thing contacts the white thing like speakers, but still no sound.
Well, it turns out that the lock clip on the battery itself is not on the same position as it should be. because I recently removed the battery including the battery lock clip..
So I turned it to the opposite position, the sound worked again.
Thanks again
Thanks! very helpful...
great video. thanks
Excellent! Thx
Thanks bunches !
thank you so much!!!!
Yay! This was so helpful! save me a ton $!$
Good video
thanks a million rich
Thanks!
Cool, thanks, I was wondering what was meant by 'unclip'
Followed your process steps. While clicking the battery back into position I pressed against the LED screen with my thumb. The digital time didn't read. Alternatively a black and blue brush stroke appeared and hasn't disappeared. Do you think pressing against the face with my thumb is responsible? Rob
Hi thanks for the video. Its a great help. Do you have a video on how to replace the straps? Thanks in advance :)
Thanks
Thank you! I changed the battery EASILY watching your vid! Question: Do you know how to change the band? Mine broke and I called Timex and was told the band can't be changed and for $25 I could buy a whole new replacement watch from Timex. BTW, Timex would not even sell me a replacement band. Thanks a million!
Gracias kompa ....
agh, thanks dude!
There are different types of rubbing alcohol. Use the 91% Isopropyl type for cleaning small parts and tape heads. A 16oz. bottle of this stuff is way far cheaper than those tiny bottles of the same thing in other stores. FYI: Finger nail polish remover and Acetone are the same thing too.
what about the note there inside in the red label that says to reset the vdd? whats that?
I changed Times Marathon battery with new one just as you did. Digits still not working. How to “short reset pad”?
You don't want to use rubbing alcohol on the gasket it will dry it out. They are coated in silicon grease to preserve them and to keep water out. Also you shouldn't take the whole module/movement out since some digital watches like Casio's have springs for the alarms that can fall out, the button pushers can come off track, and what you did by touching and put finger prints on the LCD screen.
Oh and Rolex doesn't make watches with batteries if you see a new one it's a fake.
I was joking with the Rolex, it has an auto-wind feature that resets when I move my hand.. the watch will eventually stop if taken off though.
0:12 "I appreciate you guys WATCHing" ... heh...
... heh...
HEY! No cheap puns allowed, not under my watch.
I replace my battery (see below) but the watch won't come back on. How do I RESET it?
I wish I'd seen this before I tried to replace my battery. I couldn't figure out how to remove the battery clips so I disasambled the whole watch. When I replaced the battery, the watch won't come on.
I have one, I recently change the battery, but I dont know how I could put the real time. Please could you help me please?
Ok vid, but you didn't address "shorting out" the watch. Please include that step.
FYI: DO NOT use rubbing alcohol on the rubber seal/gasket as alcohol will dry it out. Use silicone instead.
I need help changing the battery out of my tw5m41400 timex watch. I tried these steps and it didn’t work
Great Tutorial. I was watching your video while replacing the battery however, upon replacement of the new battery the time on the watch reports the following: CR8 01 EE:EE 00 Instead of reporting the actual time. Any advice?
I removed the battery and reinserted it and it works now.
Thank you. Has the Timex police come knocking at your door because the drop in sales this video has created?
Issue is the screwdriver. I already had a watch repair set. Issue is, the screw drivers it comes with can't work with the Ironman watch. Bought new batteries before realizing this
hi, just done it and with your video, it was so easy but, now the alarm isn't working, I can put the beeps on and off but nothing that I can do to turn on the alarm.
You got any clue?
+Andre Pouliot Ok, I got it to work but, since I don't have the manual anymore, I can't remember how to turn off the flashing light when the alarm goes on.
Changed battery just like the video.
However, as soon as I tightened the screws at the back the watch stops working.
Does anyone have any advice about this problem?
Same problem after several tries. If I back off a couple of the screws slightly, everything works, but I'm worried it won't be waterproof unless the screws are tighter. Also, didn't understand the direction to short the posts to reset.
Can you do a Rolex battery replacement? :-P Nice job on the video, very informative! :-)
You are a copycat with Bella at the end of the video, no pun intended ;-)
I know! You gave me the idea. haha.
You probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a way to get back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot the login password. I would love any help you can offer me!
@Finn Javier instablaster :)
@Eli Ronan Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm trying it out now.
Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Eli Ronan It worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account !
I have my husbands watch apart and on the sticker over the battery it says "after battery replacement short posts to reset" What the heck does that mean?
SODuUkUFilehistory
Erma McGinn This is my best guess, but perhaps you need to short the posts together (so touch them together with a metal instrument). This probably resets the watch back to factory settings.
@@RichsMethods Guess? Probably? These terms do no give me a whole lot of confidence in your expertise. I came to this video to see what an expert thinks if I really need to reset the watch. Suggest you go search UA-cam for "How to Short Pads to Reset Timex Ironman Triathlon after Battery Insertion".
I changed my battery with no problems, but now my watch is stuck in Demo mode and i can't get out. Googled it - nothing. Help!!!
I have a different model of Ironman watch and the sticker says "after battery insertion - short AC pad and battery to reset". Here are instructions for resetting the watch (hope this helps): www.4bc.org/instruc/timex/timex.html
What battery do you use?
I used an Energizer button cell.
CR 2016
You just dated the hell out of your wife and yourself by admitting you still wear a timex watch. lol. Glad to see a new video though!
lol!
You have a cute kitty
Thanks! She's all right, I guess:)
RichsMethods How old is she
katlikestuna Five years old, around 7 and half pounds. She's a little runt.
RichsMethods haha shes pretty fat and when are u uploading again
katlikestuna I'm hoping to do a video every month! *Fingers Crossed*
Electric Timex cell battery vintage men gold rectangle shape
4 sites same guy!!!!
wife? what was HIS name?
Save yourself some self promotion and useless drivel. skip to 1:00. You're welcome.
That's why my watches are mechanical or solar powered and they can be as accurate as quartz but no need to replace batteries. Batteries are expensive and bad for the environment. I don't know why in the 21st century people still buy battery powered watches.
I have new Timex indiglo expedition, this watch has no name but on back
Thanks
no it does not work for other Timex watches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really, that's odd? Are you sure there isn't a short in the watch itself? That's a bummer it didn't work.
Just an awesome video! It helped me replace my battery on my iron man watch without having to buy a new one. Thanks!
Very helpful!!! Thank you!!
Thanks
You're welcome!
