Hopefully revoked. I can see if she didn't know or wasn't trained but as nurses, privacy training is beaten into our heads constantly. Everyone says "lack of training." Sometimes people are who they are and this is no different. She blatantly did this to get views and she WANTED to go viral. That's not a lack of training; that's excessive not giving fuqs.

Would you believe that is possible she'll not lose her license. She'll probably be either reprimanded or temporarily suspended but even drug addict nurses who steal their patients narcotics don't always get revoked. It's just not that easy.

As a neonatal nurse, I'm flabbergasted that anyone had the audacity to take photographs of a patient and post them on social media with inappropriate captions. Serious lack of good judgement here.
Oh my gosh how disrespectful like this baby had a choice. Her job is to work and save their life. To have compassion for everyone. This is horrible and she needs to loose her license and be fired and be sued. Disgusting 🤮 person this could’ve been her child.

Young, black, made it to be a nurse but obviously lacking the character & heart to work in that profession. There are many young nurses like her...motivated by the paycheck & prestige of their title and don't truly understand the level of service tied to it.
Wow. The fact that this is so obviously wrong. Everything in a hospital is private, completely private! Everyone knows that no photos, videos, audio or any other form of unauthorized recordings are illegal. They should prosecute her for this and follow up by updating the privacy law to have posted placards to all staff, patients and all other visitors to not to make any media of the sort stated above without permission by the hospital with exception of family photos of sentimental value.

Most hospitals have social media use policies along those lines. You can bet the staff there will probably get extra training on privacy and social media usage.

Yes, I think most EVIL people are sane. I think they know right from wrong and just don't care about others. I think they know there are consequences to whatever evil thing they decide to do and they maneuver in ways to completely reduce if not eliminate those negative consequences. I think a sociopath is an illness but I also do NOT think all sociopaths do evil actions. @@lisamorrison7535 Definitely some good and some bad but UNLIKE cops, nurses DO hold each other accountable. We take it upon ourselves to turn in a colleague with questionable practices. We do we NOT get penalized by higher ups for turning in a colleague and THAT'S why we have some good some bad. Officers, not so much. I don't consider anyone who sits and watches another abuse someone in their custody and say nothing as "good." Those cops are neglectful where the others are abusive, nothing good about either of them. About the cellphone in patient areas isn't a rule at least no where I've ever worked. After divorcing, I am a single mother. If there's an emergency, I need my caregivers to be able to reach ME. If my facility made such a rule, I'd give report and go home. If that's not an option then than rule doesn't apply to me.

I would think that violates HIPAA, but patients aren't identified. I've seen memes on social media where people joke about a patients condition. That should be wrong in a job that is supposed to be about caring. In the age of social media, that is the first thing medical/nursing students should be taught is not to post this stuff on social media. I get that some patients can be difficult, but as a medical professional that is just wrong.
It sounds like she posted actual pictures of the baby, which makes it identifiable.
She basically threw her entire career away. HIPAA does NOT PLAY. She won't be a nurse anymore, and rightfully so. I just hope the baby lives a healthy and happy life.

My son was born with the same thing in 2001. Gastroschisis is very serious. My son was in the hospital for 3 month fighting for his life. This was one of the scariest things ive ever delt with. Praise be to the most high that my son is 20 now and perfectly healthy but to think back on when id have to go home (3 hrs away) every night not knowing if he would still be there when the nicu opened back up in the morning was hell on earth. This woman no girl should never be allowed to work in health care again not to mention pay a fine for violating HIPPA laws. I hope this family sues her. How would she feel if this baby ends up not making it? What a poor excuse for a human. We wont even talk about how the hell she is a nurse and lacks simple grammar skills. Exactly, which is why ppl comparing us to police is downright comical. When a nurse is caught, it's almost always due to a reporting colleague. We have no "wht lines" nor some overpowered renegade force sworn to secrecy.

As a nursing student myself, stuff like this makes me sooooo sick!! Definitely not a nurse to look up to!! I already know her former classmates and professors are embarrassed and disgusted. Posting the photos was wrong AND I feel for the nurse who did it. There must be many traumatic stresses for nurses dealing with the need to process the complex emotions of being faced with such things. Have the figured out why the child was born with such a condition?

Legally and ethically there is a very big difference between sharing your food pictures and sharing private and protected information without consent.

In the US the government can't tell you what to do with your medical information, but they can and have told medical personnel what they can and can't do with other people's medical information. No it's not. I've been a nurse 22 years. I'm licensed in 6 states and I'm completely unencumbered. I've never even been investigated. I'm STILL working as nurse today in pediatric home health. I'm getting ready to get my 2nd bachelor's to work my way up to nurse practitioner. I've had to say something to nurses OF ALL RACES about hippa violations but certain nurses who violate hippa get verbally reprimanded and it goes away. Some nurses are just stupid but the media highlights some more than others giving society a false sense of security in saying they only want a certain demographic of nurse.
